Chapter 29.1
Zhu Xinyue, who had a “beautiful dream”, was awakened by the sun.
Zhu Xinyue slowly opened her eyes, and sunlight entered her vision. She blinked, put her hands in front of her eyes, her slender fingers, the edges of her contours clearly visible, and through her fingers, she seemed to see the man sitting on the chair, one hand supporting his head, resting his eyes.
She can see now?!
Wow! Yesterday’s dream came true!
Suppressing her joy, Zhu Xinyue closed her eyes hard to confirm if she really could see.
Closing her eyes and opening them again, the man was still there with his eyes closed.
Although her vision had not completely recovered to normal, it was much better than her severe myopia before. Zhu Xinyue recognized Ji Linyu at a glance.
Did he come to the hospital early in the morning after returning late at night?
Zhu Xinyue was touched. She got out of bed quietly without disturbing the man on the chair and went to the bathroom to wash up.
She didn’t notice that the moment she woke up, Ji Linyu’s eyelashes trembled slightly, then returned to calm.
In the bathroom, Zhu Xinyue changed her clothes and carefully reorganized herself in the mirror.
Although I can’t see these days, I am healthy in other aspects of my body, and I don’t look haggard even without makeup, but my face is a little too pale.
Zhu Xinyue dipped her hands in water and combed her hair, which had become disheveled from sleep.
She had slept so well yesterday, all thanks to that dream. Thinking of the scenes in her dream, Zhu Xinyue couldn’t help but blush, quickly pressing her cheeks with cold hands to cool down.
If only this were true…
Biting her lower lip, Zhu Xinyue saw her blushing cheeks in the mirror, buried her head again, and splashed her face with cold water.
Calm down.
Think about how to tell Ji Linyu later that she could see again.
Zhu Xinyue held the sink with both hands, recalling what Ji Linyu once said: “I will not leave you until your eyes are healed.”
Hiss…Now that her eyes are healed, is he going to leave her?
This thought was like a bucket of cold water, extinguishing Zhu Xinyue’s newly rising excitement.
Supporting herself with heavy steps, Zhu Xinyue walked out of the bathroom and towards Ji Linyu who is sitting by the window.
There were only the two of them in the hospital room, the sunlight glaring, the curtain behind him half-drawn, perfectly blocking the sunlight shining on his upper body.
Zhu Xinyue’s steps towards Ji Linyu became lighter and lighter until she stood in front of him.
With his legs crossed and well-proportioned figure, he sat relaxed on the chair, eyes closed in sleep, like a sculpture placed in an art gallery for anyone to admire, completely defenseless against her.
Zhu Xinyue leaned forward, propping herself on the armrest of the chair, getting closer to him.
They were so close that she could count his eyelashes.
Since their first meeting, Zhu Xinyue felt that Ji Linyu perfectly matched her aesthetic preferences.
His features were profound, with a high nose bridge. Up close, she discovered a tiny mole on his nose, perfectly placed like the finishing touch in a painting.
His lips were exceptionally attractive, a shade of pink like strawberry jelly, in stark contrast to his usual expressionless demeanor.
Mr. Ji, who always appeared serious, had lips that looked very kissable.
Zhu Xinyue hesitated whether to take advantage of Mr. Ji being asleep and steal a kiss.
But it didn’t feel right, almost like being a hooligan.
She knew she had to differentiate between reality and dreams. She dares to be bolder when she dreams, but not in reality. She is timid.
Just as Zhu Xinyue was about to get up, she saw his eyelashes tremble unexpectedly, and she collided with a pair of ink-black eyes—clear and devoid of sleepiness.
It was as if she had been struck, frozen in place, forgetting even to breathe.
Ji Linyu’s lips curved slightly, calmly watching her, waiting for her explanation.
Zhu Xinyue’s mind raced, and she brought out her most exquisite acting skills, blinked her eyes, made them look lifeless, and began to act as if she were blind, naturally supporting herself on the sofa armrest as she stood up.
Ji Linyu squinted, his gaze fixed on her, trying to judge whether she truly couldn’t see or was pretending.
Zhu Xinyue’s gaze unfocused, she stumbled back and didn’t know what tripped her, losing her balance and leaning forward, her knee bumping into his, falling into Ji Linyu’s arms.
His pleasant scent instantly enveloped her.
Like the fragrance of grass when the spring breeze brushes past.
“… Ji, Ji Linyu, is it you?” She always kept in mind her blind persona, staring at his collar button, continuing to blankly gaze.
“Mm.” His tone was unreadable.
Zhu Xinyue felt guilty and whispered, “I didn’t mean to.”
Ji Linyu held her shoulders, creating distance between them, but his gaze remained fixed on her eyes.
Zhu Xinyue dared not meet his gaze, afraid of blowing her cover.
From above, his voice came, “I did it on purpose.”
Huh?
Zhu Xinyue almost lifted her head to look at him, but fortunately, she restrained herself, pinching her palm, supporting herself with the armrest of the chair as she stood up.
Ji Linyu lowered his eyes and watched her avoid his arm and find the armrest of the chair accurately, and smiled meaningfully.
Zhu Xinyue missed his smile, still pondering the meaning behind his earlier words.
“How do your eyes feel today?” Ji Linyu asked.
Zhu Xinyue sensed something unusual in his tone and cautiously replied, “Same as before.”
Before, meaning before she lost her sight. Technically not wrong, right?
Ji Linyu was on the verge of laughter because of her.
Just one night and she was already turning her back on him?
Okay, very good.
Zhu Xinyue saw his laptop and some work documents on the table, guessing he brought them to the hospital to take care of her. The hospital was far from the headquarters of Jinhuan Group and Lishan. It must have been exhausting for him to shuttle between the two places.
“Since the hospital can’t find anything, why don’t we go back to Lishan?” Zhu Xinyue asked.
Ji Linyu, seeing her determined to act clueless, was frustrated but had no way to deal with her.
It was his own fault. Who asked him to kiss her when she wasn’t fully conscious?
“Okay.” Ji Linyu stood up and walked to her side.
Zhu Xinyue instinctively held his arm, just as she had done before when he led the way.
Ji Linyu paused for a moment and looked down at the young girl in front of him – she looked at everything except him, pretending so convincingly.
“It’s windy.” Zhu Xinyue blurted out, regretting immediately. Would he see through her act? She felt her acting was quite decent, after all, she could be considered an actress.
Ji Linyu raised an eyebrow, turned around, facing her directly.
This action made Zhu Xinyue hesitate to grab his arm again, so she let her hand drop. She decided not to initiate contact this time. Otherwise, he might see through her.
She lowered her eyes and saw him reach out, and then…
He held her hand.
“This is more convenient, don’t you think?” he asked.

How frustrating, lol. Zhu Xinyue thinks their intimacy last night was all a dream and even fakes her blindness, while Ji Linyu pretends along with her, not telling her everything was real. I hope she blows her cover really soon and that Ji Linyu confesses his feelings because while I enjoy the ambiguous stage of their romance, I don’t want it to go on for too long, lol.
Thanks for the chapter! 😀
