Chapter 30.2
A person should know themselves. Zhu Xinyue didn’t believe she could change this era with her current abilities or contend with those large enterprises.
Opening her office software, she began to draft a business plan.
First, set a small goal: earn a billion.
Once she started focusing on making money, Zhu Xinyue entered a state of concentration, forgetting about time and even having her lunch in her room.
As the sun set, the light in the room gradually dimmed.
With her laptop screen still bright, Zhu Xinyue reviewed and categorized the variety shows and films that Brother Hu had sent her, making decisions after careful consideration.
[Brother Hu: Are you sure about filming this variety show? It’s just a small online variety show. The regular guests are called seniors in a flattering way, but in a negative light, they’re has-beens. It might not gain much popularity online.]
[Zhu Xinyue: I think it has potential.]
[Brother Hu: …Alright, at least its filming period isn’t long.]
The online variety show Zhu Xinyue selected was a slow-paced business-themed show called “One Moment, One Scene,” with a former Asian superstar who hadn’t acted in a long time as a regular guest.
When this show first aired, due to a lack of funds, they couldn’t afford publicity, relying solely on the spontaneous promotion from the actor’s old fans. The initial episodes featured relatively unknown guest stars from the actor’s circle of friends, including directors, producers, and faded singers…
It wasn’t until the second-to-last episode when a fan’s daughter made a video to promote the actor. Originally intended simply to recommend the actor, she ended up watching every episode from the beginning, laughing and crying, and realized it was a treasure trove of a show. Her recommendation video went viral, reaching millions of views in a short time.
With marketing channels and other media catching on, the show became a hit. After that, they immediately decided to film a second season, with advertising sponsorship exceeding one hundred million, and even Jin Qingyuan appeared in the second season.
Rather than participating as a performer and receiving a fee, why not provide a helping hand and invest directly in the variety show, laying a long-term foundation.
After a long day’s work, Zhu Xinyue stretched and closed her laptop, heading downstairs for dinner.
Lost in her thoughts about how to raise more startup capital, she pondered whether to take out a bank loan…
“Miss Zhu, the boss is on his way back. Would you like to have your meal now?” The personal chef had been with Zhu Xinyue for several years, even preparing meals for her when she was recuperating from her injury.
“In that case, I’ll wait…” Before Zhu Xinyue could finish her sentence, a tall figure appeared at the entrance of the dining room.
“Let’s dine now.” Instead of heading to his usual seat at the head of the long table, Ji Linyu walked over and pulled out the chair beside Zhu Xinyue, sitting to her right.
Zhu Xinyue stared at the platinum watch on his wrist.
He had returned quite early today. It was only a few hours since he left.
Her gaze burned, and it was difficult for Ji Linyu to ignore.
“Do you want this watch?” he asked.
Zhu Xinyue thought he was asking whether she wanted to use his watch to check the time.
“Mm.” She didn’t have her phone with her and wasn’t in the habit of wearing watches.
Ji Linyu took off his watch.
Zhu Xinyue held out her palm, ready to accept his watch.
Instead of placing the watch in her palm, Jin Linyu grasped her hand, pulling it closer to him.
The black alligator leather strap wrapped around her delicate wrist, the warmth of his body lingering on the inner surface of the dial, causing her fingertips to tremble slightly.
Zhu Xinyue looked up at Ji Linyu, hurriedly explaining, “That’s not what I meant…”
Even though she had never owned this watch before, she had heard of the brand. Even their cheapest watches were worth as much as a house. Not to mention the limited edition collector’s items Ji Linyu favored.
It was far too precious for her now.
“That’s what I meant.” Ji Linyu put the watch on her, holding her fingertips in his hand, turning her hand over.
The dial was still too large for her, but next time he would buy her a women’s model, he’d now gained experience.
Zhu Xinyue stared at Ji Linyu for quite a while.
With his eyes lowered, his thumb resting on her hand, he seemed to be measuring the size of her fingers.
The servants and the chef team had already set up their utensils and left the dining room.
As the door closed behind them, the dining room fell quiet again, so quiet that Zhu Xinyue could hear herself swallowing.
“Ji Linyu,” Zhu Xinyue couldn’t help herself, feeling a little sour and envious, “you’re so rich.”
Such an expensive gift with just a wave of his hand.
Ji Linyu raised his eyes to meet hers, pausing at her ring finger.
“Do you like it?” He didn’t care about the value of the gift, only if she liked it or not.
“I like it.” Zhu Xinyue curved her fingers as if to grasp his hand, then quickly relaxed, allowing him to hold her hand.
She responded quickly and without hesitation. It was unclear whether she was being perfunctory or telling the truth.
Ji Linyu pressed down on her ring finger slightly harder, as if punishing her for her thoughtlessness.
He said meaningfully, “I was asking about the person.”
To complete his sentence—do you like rich people?
Or… do you like him?

If making a billion is Zhu Xinyue’s small goal, then I can only imagine what a large goal looks like, lol. On a side note, I just love how Ji Linyu is being more assertive in his actions to show his feelings for Zhu Xinyue, but she’s the type that’ll keep on denying the signs unless he confesses, so hopefully he does so soon.
Thanks for the chapter! 😀
