I Confessed to the Male Lead’s Brother by Mistake
I Confessed to the Male Lead’s Brother by Mistake Chapter 38 [END]

Chapter 38

It is an open secret that Zhu Xinyue and Ji Linyu are in a relationship.

It started when they went to see a midnight screening of “Peach Blossom Spring” together after its release.

The movie was released during the May Day Golden Week, and every screening was packed. It was very difficult to get tickets, so Zhu Xinyue and Ji Linyu agreed to watch the film after the Golden Week ended.

Movies are best watched in theaters for the atmosphere.

Zhu Xinyue still didn’t have a clear idea of how big her popularity was before she went out, but Brother Hu reminded her before she left not to let fans recognize her and affect the normal work and life of ordinary people. It’s better to disguise yourself during this time.

So when Zhu Xinyue went out, she wore a duckbill cap and a mask.

Boss Ji belongs to the behind-the-scenes crew, and he is low-key. Even without any disguise, besides people who pay special attention to his industry, other people will only have one impression of him at most—a handsome guy.

There was a drama and film blogger who had watched “Peach Blossom Spring” three times. She held up her phone to record a short video, intending to tell her fans that “Peach Blossom Spring” was so popular that even the midnight screening had many audiences. As she was filming, the camera was unconsciously attracted to a man with a figure comparable to that of an international supermodel.

This handsome guy has tried his best to cooperate with his girlfriend by dressing less business-like, just a simple casual shirt with the hem tucked into black casual trousers. He has broad shoulders and a narrow waist, and his arms have smooth muscle lines. He holds a popcorn bucket in his left hand and a bottle of mineral water in his right hand casually, quietly waiting for his girlfriend to take the ice cola handed to her by the staff.

When his girlfriend took a step back and almost bumped into a passerby who was trying to cut in line, he put his right arm around his girlfriend’s waist and pulled her towards him.

The girlfriend was afraid of spilling the ice cola in her hand, so she raised the cup with the ice cola still dripping from the wall. The hem of her short clothes was lifted up, revealing a faintly visible vest line.

“Water……” Her ice cola hand kept dripping down, dripping onto the handsome man’s arm and her legs.

The handsome guy brought her out of the queue and walked to the waiting area.

The blogger generously left the camera to this eye-catching couple, wanting to see what they would do next.

The handsome guy put what he had in his hand on the table next to him and took out a pack of tissues from his pocket. When his girlfriend took out the tissue to wipe her hands, he took the ice cola from her hand, carefully wiped off the water seeping from the wall of the cup, then wrapped the wall of the cup with the tissue, and then handed her the ice cola with the dry outer wall.

The girlfriend tilts the straw of the ice cola to him, he takes a sip, and then holds out his palm, naturally taking the rubbish passed by her girlfriend, together with the tissue used to wipe the cup wall, and throws it into the nearby trash can.

The two actions are tacit and natural, and no words are spoken throughout the process, only eye contact has completed all actions.

The blogger always felt that the girlfriend’s figure was a bit familiar, and the appearance of the handsome man seemed to have been seen somewhere.

Coincidentally, the position where the blogger watched “Peach Blossom Spring” for the fourth time was right behind this young couple.

The blogger has seen “Peach Blossom Spring” several times. The reaction of the audience is in her grasp. Therefore, she pays more attention to the young couple in front. Her intuition tells her that these two people must be the people she knows.

The joyous laugh point of the first half of the movie has passed, and the audience’s reaction has been enthusiastic, and the second half has brewed the audience’s tear point.

“The first tear-jerker is Qingyu’s line before her death, ‘I haven’t reported to Second Elder yet…'”

Every time the blogger sees this part, she sheds tears. It’s not only because Qingyu’s death was tragic and heroic, but also because she knows the subsequent plot: Second Elder used Qingyu’s sword umbrella to commit suicide, sacrificing himself to the formation, and both were buried in Peach Blossom Spring.

This sword umbrella only appeared twice.

Once when Qingyu died, and once when the Second Elder died.

If Qingyu knew that the Second Elder she protected used her sword to commit suicide because of her death in Peach Blossom Spring, when others asked her if she wanted to leave the island, would she have persevered without looking back, instead of leaving behind the protection formation for the person she wanted to protect?

The relationship between these two can be described as master and disciple affection, or even familial love. When the director filmed their subplot, he did so with great restraint, which made this pair particularly compelling.

Regardless of the emotion, the ending was still hard to accept.

The blogger couldn’t help but shed tears again, and when she wiped her tears, she saw the young couple in front of her also wiping their tears.

But it seemed that the handsome guy’s eyes were red because the blogger heard his girlfriend patting his hand while quietly comforting him, “It’s okay, it’s just a movie.”

Huh? This voice sounds familiar.

The theater was too dim for the blogger to see clearly who was sitting in front of her, but she had just heard this voice and had just seen her shedding tears, so she suddenly realized.

Oh my god! The blogger keenly realized that she was witnessing a gossip-worthy moment, so she took out her phone and messaged her best friend, who is a die-hard fan of Zhu Xinyue.

[Blogger: Bao! I ran into Zhu Xinyue and her boyfriend at the movies!]

[Best Friend: ??? Oh my god! Is it true?!]

[Blogger: Don’t worry, the brother-in-law is very handsome, and he seems familiar, like I’ve seen him somewhere.]

Her best friend immediately sent a graduation photo of Ji Linyu.

[Blogger: It’s him! (Sends video)]

[Best Friend: Sob sob sob! I have no regrets now!]

Just as the blogger finished sharing this big gossip with her best friend, she looked up again and saw that the young couple in front had already left the theater early.

The short video she took before the movie started had been shared online.

Zhu Xinyue wore a baseball cap and mask, concealing her face, but Ji Linyu didn’t hide at all, so he was recognized quickly.

Trending hashtags with “Ji Linyu’s brother-in-law” quickly climbed the charts.

#Ji Linyu’s Brother-in-Law

#Zhu Xinyue’s Mysterious Boyfriend

#Zhu Xinyue Ji Linyu

As Zhu Xinyue’s popularity increased, the order of the trending hashtags changed.

Zhu Xinyue and Ji Linyu returned to Lishan and were about to rest when they received notifications from the trending charts, one to pick up the agent’s call and the other from the PR department.

After watching the blurry video, possibly due to the distance and the ordinary mobile device used by the other party, she glanced at the direction of the comments.

[What? Is it strange that Zhu Xinyue has a boyfriend? Didn’t she say she wasn’t single from the beginning?]

[Not strange at all, what’s strange is that the other party is the President of Jinhuan Group!]

[Is it a boyfriend or a sponsor, that’s the real question.]

Perhaps because the Zhu family couldn’t bear to see this, Zhu Shilang carried the big sword and smashed a common black.

[@Zhu Shilang: Does my sister still need a sponsor? //@Hei: Is it a boyfriend or a sponsor, that’s the real question.]

The trending topic exploded.

#Zhu Xinyue Zhuchang Group

Zhu Xinyue had just hung up the call with Brother Hu, and then answered calls from Zhu Shilang and Zhu Hengnian.

“Xiaoyue, I heard from Linyu that you are dating with the intention of marriage.” Zhu Hengnian’s tone seemed particularly happy. It was unclear whether it was because Zhu Xinyue had found a good partner or because her partner was Ji Linyu of Jinhuan Group.

“When do you plan to make it public?” Zhu Shilang asked again.

Zhu Xinyue: “When will we get married, and when will we make it public?”

Or in other words, when to make it public and when to get married.

“Okay!” Zhu Hengnian just responded yes when he heard her say “get married”.

Zhu Shilang understood the hidden meaning in her words, because he had asked Ji Linyu before and Ji Linyu had said the same thing.

These two people are exactly alike.

After this period of time, Zhu Shilang also got to know Zhu Xinyue’s character. She had her own pride and her ideas had matured a lot. Seeing that she was doing well in the entertainment industry, others began to call him “Zhu Xinyue’s brother” when they saw him.

Zhu Shilang should be relieved.

She has grown up.

No longer a little girl who needs the protection of her family.

After hanging up the call from the Zhu family, Zhu Xinyue received the long-lost system notification tone.

“Congratulations, you have completed the wish to reconcile with the Zhu family, and the reward has been distributed.”

This time the reward distribution was quick, and there were no side effects. Zhu Xinyue’s vision became extremely clear when she opened and closed her eyes.

Since revealing her family background, public opinion in the comments has changed.

[Just passing by.]

[Looks match, perfect couple!]

[Officially recognized couples are the best!]

[I knew the Linyu CP was real!]

It seems that their relationship is not a bad thing, and Zhu Xinyue’s fans have long been prepared and guessed it for a long time.

Ji Linyu always likes Zhu Xinyue’s posts for no reason, and even likes videos made by Zhu Xinyue’s fans and photos taken for her, as if he’s written “I like her” all over his face. Why else would Jinhuan have so many artists and Ji Linyu only likes Zhu Xinyue’s posts?

Now it’s the premiere period of “Peach Blossom Spring” and Zhu Xinyue doesn’t want her private life to affect this work. So, she decided to cool down the situation, had the trending topics toned down, and didn’t respond further to the matter.

“Linyu, will you blame me?” Zhu Xinyue straddled over Ji Linyu’s lap, cupping his cheeks in her palms, worried that he might be upset.

Although Ji Linyu was experiencing his first relationship, he was a mature adult who understood that handling things this way was wise.

Her career still had a long way to go, but the film’s premiere period was just a brief time. Whether they made their relationship public sooner or later didn’t matter; it wouldn’t affect their relationship.

That’s what Ji Linyu thought in his mind, but his actions were different.

He turned his face away, pretending to be angry, waiting for her to come and coax him.

Zhu Xinyue kissed the corner of Ji Linyu’s lips, hooked her arms around his neck, and said, “I’ll retire from acting after my contract expires.”

She had already saved up some money now, and the industries she invested in were about to take off. She needed to seize this rare opportunity, and her primary job as an actress might not be manageable.

Ji Linyu was somewhat surprised and asked, “You’re quitting acting?”

Zhu Xinyue originally became an actress to fulfill the original owner’s wish and to protect Ji Qingyuan’s career more closely. She selected scripts and roles that were similar to herself, always staying within her comfort zone. She didn’t have too high ambitions, unlike Liang Yuyu and the others who aimed to fulfill their dreams as actors.

“Not anymore. I used to find filming interesting at first, but over time, I just felt like, it’s just that.”

Zhu Xinyue treated acting as an ordinary job, but others didn’t see her as an ordinary person. A casual remark from her would be amplified and interpreted by the media, and marketing accounts would suck the value and traffic out of her like vampires. Anyone who got close to her would be turned upside down, and Ji Linyu had to endure the frustration of being her secret boyfriend.

“What do you want to do in the future?” Ji Linyu asked.

Zhu Xinyue thought for a moment and honestly said, “I don’t know what I want to do. I just know I don’t want to work.”

It sounded somewhat sad. In her more than 20 years of life, she lived without any pursuit, and her only pursuit was not wanting to work.

“I used to live for others, not knowing what I really wanted, just knowing what I didn’t want. But people live in this world, always out of their own control, so even though I know what I don’t want, I still have to do it.”

Before, for the sake of survival, she had to go to work. Now that she was financially free, she didn’t want to work anymore, but she didn’t know why she was living.

Ji Linyu looked into her confused yet clear eyes. Maybe because she was a little nearsighted, she always got close to him to see him.

This reminded him of the cat raised by his cousin’s family. Every time he returned to the Lu family, the tabby cat would jump up and get close, rubbing its wet nose against his nose.

Ji Linyu hugged her into his arms and gently patted her back.

Zhu Xinyue leaned against his chest, listening to his heavy and powerful heartbeat, one after another, comforting.

“People are not born knowing what they want. There are many days ahead. I’ll accompany you slowly to find out,” he said.

Zhu Xinyue’s heartbeat gradually synced with his.

As if in the vast universe, she finally found her own planet, attracting each other with him. Even if they collided with each other, it didn’t matter. Even if they turned into cosmic dust, it was the stardust that belonged to both of them.

Later on, what they made public was not their relationship, but news of their marriage.

I didn’t think that Zhu Xinyue would actually give up her acting career, but she’s always wanted to live a relaxing life, so I guess it’s not all the surprising. With her ability to calculate numbers pretty quickly, though, maybe she’ll pursue a career in that or just focus on being an investor, since she still has her “foresight” about future events.

On a side note, the ending of the novel seemed kind of lackluster, so hopefully the extra chapter will show their wedding and give a resolution to the original Zhu Xinyue who’s still in the hospital, especially since her situation wasn’t fully explained.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
