“Do you know what to do if the puppy gets hurt?” Tang Bin asked the two bodyguard brothers.

The two brothers exchanged a glance. “…Take it to the veterinary hospital?”

“Of course, take it to the veterinary hospital!” Tang Bin said.

“Alright, got it.” Tang Bin replied.

As he spoke, he was about to carry the puppy into the car, but the two bodyguards hurriedly stopped him.

“Young Master, if the dog needs to go to the hospital, we should be the ones to take it. Please put it down, be careful, it might bite you.”

“…It’s fine,” Tang Bin said, refusing to let go of the puppy.

His fingers gently rubbed the soft fur of the puppy, and he found that the puppy’s body was warm and fluffy. Aside from a faint smell of blood, there was no other noticeable scent. It seemed to contradict the puppy’s dirty appearance.

He was worried that if he handled it too much, he might hurt the puppy further, especially since he didn’t know how it was injured or where. So he rejected the bodyguard’s suggestion and simply said, “You drive, I’ll hold it.”

The new car that Luo Yuntian had given him was a small sports car with only two seats, clearly not big enough for three men.

So, Tang Bin decided to leave his own car by the roadside and hop into the bodyguards’ car, heading straight for the nearest veterinary hospital.

The puppy he was holding seemed to understand their words. It didn’t struggle or move, just obediently stayed in Tang Bin’s arms as he carried it to the car.

At first, it was panting and its body was stiff, not daring to relax. But after a while, it seemed to run out of strength. It lay still on Tang Bin’s lap, only its small body trembling uncontrollably, indicating that it was still alive.

Tang Bin quickly checked it over and found that, aside from the frightening scar on its back, there didn’t seem to be any major injuries. He felt slightly relieved. Though the wound looked gruesome, it appeared to be a superficial injury, and as long as it stayed still, it shouldn’t bleed anymore.

“This dog is a tough one,” the bodyguard sitting in the front passenger seat said.

“Why do you say that?” Tang Bin asked.

“Well…” The bodyguard was taken aback that the young master had spoken to him. He was shocked and momentarily speechless.

Earlier, he had noticed the young master’s cold expression soften, and unable to resist his tendency to chatter, he spoke up.

If it had been in the past, the young master would’ve most likely just given him a glare, signaling him to stay quiet…

No, wait, if it had been in the past, how would the young master have personally carried a wild dog?

But since the young master had asked, the bodyguard explained, “Usually, when an animal suffers such a severe injury, it just keeps struggling. But the more it struggles, the more likely the wound will tear open, and it will end up exhausting itself to death. Especially this one… is this a husky?”

The bodyguard glanced back to confirm.

But when he looked, he was startled. Just as he said the word “husky,” the dog in the young master’s arms suddenly propped up its front legs.

Although it was just a puppy with soft fur, looking clumsy and cute, even when it bared its teeth, it wasn’t that intimidating.

But that look in its eyes was truly fierce…

So much so that the bodyguard was startled and had to remind the young master once again to be careful not to get bitten by the dog.

If the young master were to get bitten, both he and the driver beside him would be out of a job.

When Tang Bin left the hospital, holding the dog wrapped in bandages and wearing an Elizabethan collar, he received a call from Luo Yuntian.

He checked the time—it was exactly half past twelve.

“Dad…”

“Ah, Baby, where are you now?” Luo Yuntian’s voice came through the phone, warm and patient. “Your mother is worried about you. She wants to know when you’re coming home, and insisted I call and ask.”

“Oh, I’ll be home soon.” Tang Bin looked down at the puppy in his arms. After all the treatment and check-ups, the little dog was probably exhausted. It was now lying on its legs, not moving at all, not even glancing at him.

Tang Bin gave the puppy’s paw another gentle pinch. “I’ll be home soon. Tell Mom not to worry about me, and she should go to sleep.”

“Alright then.”

After settling into the back seat of the car, the bodyguard automatically closed the door for him.

“Young Master, your car…”

“Just go straight home,” Tang Bin said.

Although Luo Yuntian mentioned that Madam Luo asked when he would return, it was clear from his tone that they were all waiting for him.

Tang Bin couldn’t bear to have the elders waiting, so he decided it would be better to go home directly.

“Yes. But… should I bring the dog back as well?” The bodyguard cautiously asked.

In the past, he wouldn’t have dared to intervene or ask such a question.

But after spending most of the night with the young master in the veterinary hospital corridor, although the young master had kept his head down and remained mostly silent, there was something about tonight that made the bodyguard feel the young master was unusually calm and approachable.

“Take it back.” Tang Bin extended his finger and gently tapped the puppy on the head.

The puppy seemed to understand, as it hadn’t shown any reaction when its wounds were treated earlier, staying completely still without needing anesthesia or being restrained. Even when it was carried out and had the Elizabethan collar put on, it seemed completely detached from the world, indifferent to everything. But when it heard the bodyguard ask about what to do with it, the puppy suddenly perked up. Its little ears stood straight, and it even glanced at Tang Bin as if seeking approval.

Unfortunately, Tang Bin had never owned a pet before, and he was quite different from most people. This was his first time interacting with a furry animal, and he had rarely encountered them before.

So he didn’t notice that this dog was very different from ordinary dogs in many ways.

When they arrived home, the bright headlights illuminated the Luo family’s garden, and the car finally stopped in front of the grand Luo mansion.

The mansion housed three generations, including Madam Luo, so it was quite large.

With three floors, it resembled a castle.

Outside, a few lights were still on, and despite it being late at night, several windows glowed with light.

It seemed they heard the noise, as the mansion’s doors opened wide, both inside and outside. Luo Yuntian and Madam Luo, along with two maids, stepped out.

“Baby, you’re finally back!” Madam Luo, already without makeup and clearly ready for bed, was about to walk over to greet Tang Bin. But when she saw that he was holding a dog in his arms, she froze in place.

“This… where did this come from?”

Tang Bin answered honestly, “I found it on the road.”

Madam Luo exclaimed in shock, genuinely worried that her son might catch some disease. She hurried to take the dog from Tang Bin, but he instinctively stepped back.

“Wow, it’s got quite the temper.” Luo Yuntian reached out and, with lightning speed, scratched the puppy’s chin. Then, unsure if he was mistaken, he thought the dog seemed completely dazed.

“Haha, this little thing is actually pretty fun,” Luo Yuntian laughed, then looked at the dog again and asked, “Son, what’s your plan? Are you keeping it?”

“…” Tang Bin didn’t know. Maybe having a dog would cause trouble for the Luo family, especially since it seemed like Madam Luo didn’t like dogs.

Or maybe this little dog didn’t want to be kept by them. The little guy seemed to have quite a temper.

Tang Bin couldn’t answer that question, so he just said what he felt: “It’s injured. If we don’t take care of it now, it would be too cruel.”

“Then let’s keep it!” Luo Yuntian said, suddenly remembering that his wife didn’t like dogs, complaining about the shedding and the smell.

After enthusiastically agreeing, he carefully glanced at Madam Luo, fearing she might object.

Maybe it was because she was tired from the day, but her normally clear voice had softened and sounded almost pitiful, as if she were pleading.

She hadn’t liked keeping animals before, but now things were different. The yard at home was big enough to build several doghouses for this dog.

“Then let’s keep it,” she said.

She’d treat it as a celebration of her son’s coming of age.

“Alright, then it’s settled. Tomorrow, I’ll have someone order a doghouse,” Luo Yuntian said, smiling at the dog so widely that his eyes nearly disappeared, looking even happier than Tang Bin.

“Hey, shouldn’t we give it a name? This is… a husky, right?”

“Woof woof woof!” As soon as “husky” left Luo Yuntian’s mouth, the dog nestled in Tang Bin’s arms suddenly let out a sharp bark.
