CHAPTER 39 (PART 3)
He Feng still hadn’t recognized her. He didn’t even dare to look at her directly, his neck flushing red as he chuckled, “So you’re hijacking my ride?”
Jiang Su pulled his car keys out and struck him with her elbow, hitting his collarbone and slamming him hard against the seat.
Then she pulled out a prop knife designed to look real.
She pressed the blade against He Feng’s neck.
Thinking it was real, He Feng broke out in goosebumps, his body instantly going cold. “Who the hell are you? Damn! Show crew! Call the cops! No, no—calm down…”
Almost at the same moment—
A loud thud sounded from above as if someone had stomped hard on the car roof.
The taxi’s metal frame wasn’t strong enough, and a shallow dent appeared—right above He Feng’s head.
He Feng completely panicked. “Shit, shit! Is this a robbery or what? Stop hitting my head!”
Even the viewers outside the screen were momentarily stunned.
[What’s going on?]
[Is this a new trick from the show crew?]
Outside, the cameraman stiffened. He mumbled, “I think… someone actually got killed.”
Jiang Su raised an eyebrow slightly and immediately stepped out of the car.
Behind the taxi, a black BMW and a stretch limo were parked, both with their doors open.
A man in his forties lay sprawled in front of the BMW, his limbs twitching and trembling, blood slowly pooling beneath him.
Another small-built man was clutching a large bag while wildly waving a knife, sprinting forward. The plaza’s security guards immediately pursued him with batons. It was clear that the one who stomped on the car roof earlier was him.
Screams rang out as some bystanders fled in panic.
But many others, emboldened, pulled out their phones and moved closer to record videos.
The scene was descending into chaos.
Jiang Su briefly furrowed her brows and tossed the microphone in her hand to the cameraman.
She kicked off her high heels and climbed onto the car roof.
Because of this sudden incident, the entire row of cars had come to a stop.
Jiang Su remained unfazed. She stepped onto the car roofs, leaping swiftly across them, closing in on the small-built man.
[Holy shit! Don’t go! That guy’s an actual criminal!]
[Is this part of the show or real life?]
[Jiang Su getting overhyped and actually believing it? A woman’s strength can’t overpower a man’s. The male guests in the show have always gone easy on her.]
Cheng Yue stared at the footage, his expression dark and irritated.
The chaotic barrage of comments on the screen only made him more frustrated.
Fixing his eyes on Jiang Su, he immediately made a phone call.
Call the police. Call an ambulance.
The plaza hosted frequent events, with tall streetlights wrapped in decorative banners and promotional flags.
Jiang Su’s eyes flicked upward, spotting one of the banners.
She grabbed it and kicked off from a utility pole.
Like a stunt wire performer, she flew diagonally through the air.
This time, she didn’t look like a butterfly.
She looked like an eagle.
Sharp. Lethal.
Behind the screen, Cheng Yue’s heart clenched tightly, his gaze turning ice-cold in an instant.
His secretary beside him didn’t even dare to breathe too loudly.
On-screen, the small-built man ran with all his might, not daring to look back.
And then, suddenly, an overwhelming force slammed into his back, as if intending to shatter his very organs—
He fell forward, face-first.
The impact sent him skidding half a meter across the ground.
The large bag he had been holding was also flung out of his grip, its contents spilling everywhere—revealing a stack of folders.
Jiang Su had kicked him down.
[Damn!]
[I’m speechless. That kick looked brutal.]
Jiang Su staggered slightly but quickly steadied herself.
She stood there for a few seconds, watching as the man attempted to get up—he planted his hands on the ground, trying multiple times—
But in the end, he couldn’t.
She moved around to the front of the man.
Watching as he coughed violently, spitting out a tooth stained with blood.
Only then did Jiang Su finally turn away in satisfaction, walking back barefoot.
The people around her were stunned.
It wasn’t until the security guards caught up, tackled the man, and restrained him that the onlookers snapped out of their daze. Applause erupted, and phones were pulled out as they began filming Jiang Su again.
“Wow, that was incredible!”
“Is she a retired soldier?”
“Wait, was that real or just a movie scene?”
“Hold on, let me post this on my feed!”
Jiang Su left their chatter behind, heading toward her cameraman.
The cameraman, panting from running to keep up with her, finally managed to squeeze out two words:
“…Holy shit.”
Off-camera, Cheng Yue’s face was darker than ever, but suddenly, a scoff escaped his throat. That scoff slowly turned into a chuckle.
His laughter was low, deep, and genuine—so much so that his secretary, who had never heard him laugh like this before, was momentarily stunned.
In the distance, sirens blared.
Police cars and ambulances arrived on the scene.
Nurses and doctors rushed toward the injured man with a stretcher, while the plaza’s cleaning crew, holding brooms and hoses, moved toward the BMW.
The police walked past, not yet realizing that Jiang Su was the one who had taken down the suspect. Their focus was entirely on the scene of the attempted robbery, sweeping past her without a second glance.
It was only now that the crowd fully registered the gravity of the situation—this wasn’t some staged event for a movie or TV show. It was an actual violent robbery attempt.
But the sound of sirens reassured them. Instead of dispersing, the crowd grew larger, more people gathering to watch the drama unfold.
Jiang Su, not one to linger around law enforcement, quickly picked up her pace, scanning her surroundings as she walked.
The more chaotic a place, the more vigilant one needed to be.
Her gaze first landed on Wang Ji, who was standing there slack-jawed.
Then, next to him, she spotted a vaguely familiar face—
Ah. The second female lead from that xianxia drama crew?
Oh? What a perfect opportunity to take them all down at once.
She hadn’t expected that this incident would conveniently draw in every bystander who loved watching a spectacle.
Jiang Su began walking in their direction.
Meanwhile, the livestream chat was still reeling.
[Jiang Su is absolutely ruthless, yet she has such an innocent-looking face.]
[She’s still thinking about capturing Wang Ji and the others at a time like this???]
[LMAO, Wang Ji and Fang Ziyi are just standing there watching the show…]
But as Jiang Su walked, she suddenly paused.
At that moment, Yan Li, along with his secretary and bodyguards, stood near the BMW, watching as the injured man was loaded into the ambulance.
The secretary, voice trembling, said, “I’ll go retrieve the documents.”
Yan Li nodded.
The bodyguards let out a breath of relief.
“…That guy didn’t seem professional at all. Probably just some lowlife who saw us in a luxury car and assumed the bag held jewelry or cash, so he tried to snatch it.”
Yan Li hummed in agreement.
Jiang Su changed directions, heading toward Yan Li.
The scene was still chaotic.
A crowd, a mix of different people.
Having just witnessed an attempted armed robbery, security guards, bystanders, the victims, and even the newly arrived police officers were all focused entirely on the “robber.”
For an assassin, this was the perfect environment to strike.
Jiang Su’s cameraman was still trying to keep up.
“You’re seriously amazing. Aren’t you afraid at all?”
“The show’s transport will be here soon. Let’s go to the hospital for a check-up first—”
Before he could finish his sentence—
Standing beside the BMW, Yan Li suddenly sensed something and lifted his gaze toward Jiang Su.
But he didn’t recognize her.
Instead, his body instinctively tensed, shifting into a defensive posture, his brows knitting together in suspicion.
His bodyguard, standing nearby, also stiffened and clenched his fists.
Behind them, a cleaning worker who had been hosing down the blood suddenly lifted the hose higher.
Everything happened at the same time.
Jiang Su tilted her head slightly.
Oh.
Who did this so-called assassin think they were trying to show off in front of her?
She turned, leapt onto the roof of a taxi, then sprang onto the BMW, launching herself down to push Yan Li aside. In the same fluid motion, she twisted midair and delivered a powerful kick.
The force sent Yan Li stumbling, drenching the lower half of his pants as the hose sprayed water everywhere.
The bodyguards’ expressions twisted with shock, but before they could react—
Jiang Su had already tackled the “cleaning worker” to the ground.
She was soaked from head to toe.
But the prop knife in her hand was now pressed against the man’s throat.
“Don’t move,” she murmured. “Shh.”
She had executed this move thousands of times before. Even now, it felt like second nature.
And the “cleaning worker” clearly knew the drill too—he instantly froze.
…His employer never mentioned that the target had hired a professional assassin as well!
“Over here! Now!” The bodyguard barked, and the others immediately swarmed in, pinning the fake cleaning worker down. But their nerves were still rattled—so much so that they didn’t completely lower their guard against Jiang Su either.
They kept her surrounded as well.
Jiang Su exhaled sharply, growing irritated.
Why were both the security personnel and the assassins in this world so pathetic and dumb?
She stood up.
Yan Li shrugged off his suit jacket and handed it to her.
“Who exactly are you?” he asked.
Meanwhile, the livestream chat was in chaos.
[…This is real. This isn’t just for the show. Yan Li isn’t someone the production team could afford to hire.]
[This looks like an actual action movie scene! I’m shaking—how did Jiang Su even realize that guy was suspicious?! I seriously didn’t expect this—first the fake robber, and now an actual hitman?]
[Wasn’t that just a robbery? There was a real assassin??? Holy shit, I’m scared.][I take back everything—I have never seen anything like this before. Jiang Su is truly terrifying.]
Off-screen, Cheng Yue clenched his fingers tightly, exhaling a low, stunned, “Fuck.”
She was absolutely fearless.
Cool beyond belief.
The camera captured Jiang Su accepting Yan Li’s coat without hesitation. She addressed the bodyguard with a detached tone, “Are you dumb? That was a prop knife. I didn’t have anything on me, just a microphone.”
Then, she turned back to Yan Li.
“You said you knew me, didn’t you?” she asked, removing the short-haired wig.
A cascade of jet-black hair fell, enhancing the striking beauty of her features.
In Cheng Yue’s chest, his heart pounded, as if a fierce wave had suddenly surged through, shattering all the constraints and shackles in its path.
And then, a beam of light pierced through.
Yan Li, on the other hand, was momentarily stunned.
Yet, he still didn’t recognize her.
Jiang Su was not pleased.
She had missed Wang Ji and another guest—two walking bars of gold. If she had sold them, she could’ve made at least twenty thousand.
With her wig in hand, she turned and walked out lazily, tossing out a name without looking back—
“Jiang Su.”
