Jiang Mocheng did not seek verification from others about what Bai Ying said. He is very confident in many things, and naturally, this extends to his love life.
If he had any doubts about her, he wouldn’t be with her. Since they are together, all concerns have vanished.
When the butler came to see Bai Ying a few days later and saw that she looked radiant, he smiled and said, “You seem to be in a good mood today.”
Bai Ying had felt the same way when she looked in the mirror that morning.
After truly breaking through that barrier and confirming her relationship with Jiang Mocheng, she gained a new understanding of him.
In the evenings, she would still learn pronunciation with him, but compared to the previous ambiguity, the atmosphere was now even thicker. Not long into their study, she would be held by him, sitting on his lap, kissing in a sticky mess.
This activity, at least, was a good exercise for lung capacity and tongue flexibility.
Bai Ying felt a tightness in her chest, reached for the beautiful cup, took a sip of water to moisten her throat, and then replied, “The weather is good, so my mood is good too.”
The city seemed to be warming up after the last snow melted. For the past week, it had been sunny, and she liked to lie lazily on the chaise lounge in her room, basking in the afternoon sun.
The butler’s smile grew even wider, “Indeed, in less than a month, the master should be home.”
Shen Jin had been gone for almost a month, and Bai Ying realized that her energy was indeed limited. Recently, she had been busy with romance and had not thought about him, who was still abroad.
“Did he call to say that?” she asked.
“There’s a flight booked.”
The butler revealed appropriately, “But there’s no exact news yet.”
Bai Ying fell into thought. Eventually, she would have to come clean with Shen Jin. It was funny to think about it; he had already made it very clear. The so-called coming clean was just her wanting to leave.
Still, she had to choose the most appropriate time. When the Qingming Festival came and she went to sweep the tomb for the old lady, she would say goodbye to him solemnly in front of the grave.
After a nap in the afternoon, she was energetic again deep into the night. She had recently adjusted her schedule and had become a night owl.
Before she even reached the door of the study, someone came out, stretched out their arms, and she raised the corners of her lips, rushed over, embraced him fully, and was then directly pulled into the room by him.
These past few days, he brought her something every time they met.
The way men fall in love, as if they can’t wait to empty their coffers, really scared her.
The day before yesterday, he brought her a wool coat, saying he had swapped shifts with someone to go to the department store to buy it. Yesterday, he brought her the most sought-after skincare products, and today was even more exaggerated; he directly gave her his wallet.
“I didn’t have time to withdraw money, so take some cash from here to use first.”
He said, “There’s also a card, the password is five zeros plus a nine.”
Bai Ying was stunned,”How much money is in the card?”
She glanced roughly, and there was also quite a bit of cash.
Jiang Mocheng didn’t remember how much money was in the card either; he had left in a hurry this time and tentatively mentioned a number.
Bai Ying, sitting on his lap, looked up at him in surprise, “How do you have so much money?”
He hesitated for a few seconds. These past few days, he had been considering whether to tell her the truth, but each time the words reached his lips, he swallowed them back.
It wasn’t that he didn’t trust her, but she was just too simple and naive. She seemed to have no defenses against people and didn’t pretend or hide her feelings. If he told her, she would certainly not speak of it, but others would definitely notice something.
Better to wait until after he leaves, then he would tell her everything.
He wrapped his arms around her waist and explained softly, “I earned it while working abroad.”
Bai Ying’s mood suddenly became very complicated, and she even felt that the card was too hot to handle.
What’s with this man, giving away his hard-earned money so easily to someone he hasn’t known for a month? She was interested in everything about him except for his wallet.
“I don’t want it.”
She pushed it back, put the card into the wallet, and then forcefully placed it into his coat pocket, wrapping her arms around his neck, saying with concern, “You worked so hard for this money, keep it for yourself, I don’t want your money.”
Jiang Mocheng sighed inwardly; anyone else might have eagerly accepted it, but she avoided it as if it were a hot potato.
“It’s nothing.”
He said, “We’re limited right now, just bear with it, it’ll get better later.
Keep this card, you can buy whatever you want with it.”
Bai Ying also complained inwardly, was it necessary to be so serious? Does he even have a brain? It’s only because she still had a shred of conscience that she didn’t accept it. If it were someone else, they would have taken everything and kicked him to the curb.
When taking Shen Jin’s money, she was at ease. After all, he was a cash cow, and she was just plucking a hair or two, not hurting anyone. Robbing the rich to help the poor, she felt entitled.
But taking this man’s money would be taking his life, a grave sin that would damage her virtue. What if she has bad luck later?
“If you try to give it to me again, I’ll get angry!”
Bai Ying said sternly, then softened her tone, persuading him, “I’m not after your money, whether you’re rich or not, it’s all the same to me. I only care about you as a person, do you understand?”
What man wouldn’t be moved by such words? Jiang Mocheng looked deeply at her, moved closer, their foreheads touching. He reached out to hold her, gently biting her lips, intimately grinding, deepening the kiss. No matter how many times they kissed, she still didn’t know how to breathe.
He chuckled, seeing her soft and clumsy appearance while struggling to breathe on his shoulder. He held her tighter, tenderly pecking her cheek.
“You’ll understand later.”
He understood that definitely wouldn’t take the money now. It couldn’t be helped, better to wait for later.
Bai Ying breathed a sigh of relief.
Recently, besides learning pronunciation, under her persistent questioning, Jiang Mocheng also had to take out the newspaper to look at the real estate news with her.
“Where is this?”
The city was too big, and although Bai Ying was a local, she hadn’t been everywhere. She pointed to an advertisement in a corner of the newspaper and asked him.
“Heqin.”
Jiang Mocheng, who was fond of her hair, was attentively stroking it, glanced at the newspaper indifferently, “An area to be developed.”
Bai Ying pondered, Shen Jin was clear about separating public and private matters, he wouldn’t bring up business matters in front of her, but she had heard him mention this place once, and now seeing it reminded her again.
“It’s so remote, yet people are building houses there?”
Jiang Mocheng chuckled, “Once it’s developed, you won’t even be able to buy it if you want to, those who are buying now have vision.”
He had talked with his sister-in-law, only a very few people knew that Heqin would be heavily developed in the future, and the Jiang family was also secretly making moves, preparing to take a large piece of land unnoticed. If they couldn’t get a big piece of the real estate pie, sipping some soup would be enough.
Bai Ying was now used to his occasional “profound insights”. The male classmates in her class also loved to do this, giving unsolicited advice without much knowledge.
She looked at the place, not because she believed Jiang Mocheng, but because she believed Shen Jin, Shen Jin wouldn’t mention such a remote place for no reason.
Should she buy a few sets here first?
Jiang Mocheng saw her frowning and seriously considering, and couldn’t help but laugh, forcing her to turn her head.
He reached out to pinch her face, “This has nothing to do with you, you’ll have plenty of houses to live in later.”
Bai Ying swatted his hand away, annoyed, “Annoying~”
She had made up her mind. Since she was buying houses with the intention of appreciation, her mindset was different. It was equivalent to investing and doing business, and of course, there would be risks.
Fortunately, the real estate market services were somewhat complete now, she could entrust many things to professionals.
…
Jiang Mocheng didn’t realize that he was indeed happy and content, waking up every day looking forward to the evening.
That day, he took the morning off, left the Shen residence, and planned to head straight to the mall. Last time he didn’t know her clothing size and picked something by feel, which fit her perfectly. Today he planned to buy more clothes — he really didn’t want to see her wearing thin clothes and shivering from the cold.
Lin Fei had been waiting outside early, seeing Jiang Mocheng’s figure, he joked with the driver, “The feng shui here at Shen Jin’s place is good, look, our General Jiang is really spirited.”
Then.
Lin Fei and the driver watched as Jiang Mocheng walked past the car, completely absorbed and oblivious, as if he hadn’t seen the car at all.
Lin Fei hurriedly opened the car door, calling out to him urgently, “Third Brother!”
Jiang Mocheng then turned around, frowning slightly as if puzzled why the other person was here.
“Third Brother, didn’t we agree to meet today last week?”
Lin Fei asked uncertainly, “Right?”
“…Yes.”
After Jiang Mocheng got into the car, his frown was deep enough to scare a child.
Lin Fei thought he had said something wrong or done something wrong, and kept quiet for a moment before tentatively asking, “So, Third Brother, any progress?”
Jiang Mocheng didn’t need to answer for Lin Fei to know there definitely wasn’t any.
He had been pessimistic from the start, not that it couldn’t be done, but Third Brother just wasn’t the person for this kind of thing. Third Brother himself despised Shen Jin, and didn’t approve of such behavior in his heart.
He had come over on a whim. Even if there were important documents in Shen Jin’s study waiting for him to take, he wouldn’t make the move.
Staying at the Shen residence was a waste of time!
Lin Fei was also afraid of using the wrong words, he pondered for a moment before speaking softly, “Shen Jin has gone abroad, the important documents are definitely not at the Shen residence, I’ve dealt with Shen Jin over the years, I really understand him.”
What kind of person is Shen Jin?
Even as an opponent, Lin Fei had to admit, this man really didn’t sweat the small stuff, ordinary matters simply didn’t concern him.
Without enough ability and breadth of mind, Shen Jin wouldn’t have gotten to where he is now.
“Even if the documents were really obtained,” Lin Fei paused, “he probably wouldn’t care too much.”
What could be left at the Shen residence now, even if his house was emptied, Shen Jin would still be able to laugh and talk as usual.
Anyway, he had thought for a month and couldn’t figure out, what could be taken that would make Shen Jin furious?
