I Heard I Have a Boyfriend
I Heard I Have a Boyfriend chapter 2

“Are you… really my boyfriend?”

“Yeah,” Lu Lin remained expressionless, neither blushing nor skipping a heartbeat. “How do you feel?”

He leaned extremely close, and Shi Sheng tilted his head slightly, his nose brushing against Lu Lin’s cheek, and began to ponder seriously with his fingers intertwined.

“How long have we known each other?”

“Ten years.” Three years of high school, four years of university, and several years of work.

Shi Sheng asked again, “Then, how long have we been dating?”

“Uh…” Lu Lin toyed with the quilt, raised his eyebrows, “Seven years.”

The uncertain look on his face made Shi Sheng frown. “Are you lying to me?”

“Am I after your looks or your money?”

“…It’s not impossible.” Shi Sheng met Lu Lin’s seemingly smiling yet not smiling eyes, shrunk his head, unable to decide what he was thinking for a moment.

Waking up and forgetting everything, suddenly a same-sex person stands in front of him claiming to be his boyfriend.

He could believe it if he said he was a good buddy, but a boyfriend…

Seven years, doesn’t that mean they’ve done everything together, good and bad? Shi Sheng’s eyes flickered back and forth. How could he trust the words of a stranger about such a major matter?

Feeling uneasy, he suddenly leaned over and kissed Lu Lin’s mouth.

As the warm touch pressed against him, Lu Lin’s pupils trembled. Shi Sheng raised his head to meet his gaze, and at that moment, a person’s eyes couldn’t lie.

A little lip contact didn’t matter; what mattered was not trusting the wrong person.

“Look at your reaction. It seems we haven’t reached this level after seven years?” Shi Sheng licked his lips, looking like a sly fox. “You’re really a fraud.”

Lu Lin: “…”

The room fell silent, and Lu Lin finally smiled. Although this kid had lost his memory, his brain was still sharp.

He whispered softly, “Actually, it’s been seven days.”

Shi Sheng: ??

“After your birthday seven days ago, I took you home, and you said you liked me.” Lu Lin looked up, raised his eyebrows. “It’s true.”

“And then?”

“And then, we got together.”

Shi Sheng took out his ID card from his wallet. His birthday was indeed seven days ago, but he raised his face in confusion, devoid of any memories.

The growing unease in his heart felt like the entire world was isolating him. Shi Sheng’s eyes wandered around, feeling breathless and anxious.

“Why… can’t I remember anything…”

Lu Lin wanted to reach out and comfort him, but in the end, he just squatted down, grabbed his hand, and patiently looked at him.

“Trust me, I’ll help you remember slowly, okay?”

Shi Sheng hesitated, looking at him, and nodded slowly. “Okay…”

The phone rang, and Lu Lin swiped the screen with his fingertip to answer the call. After listening for a moment, his brows furrowed. “Hmm, alright, I’ll be back soon.”

He was about to leave, and Shi Sheng eavesdropped on the conversation. It seemed that Lu Lin had taken leave and needed to return to deal with some matters at the fire station.

Shi Sheng’s emotions had already calmed down. Knowing that he had a legitimate job increased his credibility.

Curling up on the bed, he looked at Lu Lin. “What do you do?”

“I’m a firefighter.” Lu Lin hung up the phone with a calm expression and met his gaze, trying to relax his demeanor to appear like a friendly neighbor.

“Are you going to fight fires now?”

“…We’re not just fighting fires; we also protect, be it cats, dogs, or the not-so-bright people like you,” he lowered his head, tapping Shi Sheng’s nose, “Your colleagues from the studio will probably come to visit you later. Call me if you need anything. Can we have dinner at 7 pm?”

“…” This person seemed considerate, adding another point to his credibility. But Shi Sheng rubbed his stomach, “Seems like I can’t.”

Seeing this, Lu Lin brought over the big bag of snacks bought by Lu Yin, put his phone back in his pocket, and said, “I’ll order takeaway for you later. I’ll use your phone number. Remember not to put it on silent.”

“Then I want sweet and sour spare ribs, pork knuckles, and Dongpo pork.”

“Meat? You’ll have porridge.”

Shi Sheng puffed up his cheeks, expressing his dissatisfaction.

“When you’re out of the hospital, you can eat whatever you want. I really have to go,” Lu Lin pulled up the blanket to cover him, “Lu Yin will come later, and someone will be with you.”

“…Alright.”

It seemed like he was really familiar with this guy.

Lu Lin saw that Shi Sheng had curled up under the blanket without moving, so he turned and walked towards the door. Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks, and turned to find Shi Sheng looking ata him with clear black and white eyes, peeking out from under the covers.

“You’re not going to leave and not come back, are you?”

“What are you talking about?” Lu Lin was slightly taken aback.

Shi Sheng gripped the blanket, with a hint of anxiety in his eyes. He pursed his lips and, in this unfamiliar place surrounded by strangers, Lu Lin was the only person he felt comfortable with.

He turned away, voice hoarse, and said, “I’m just a bit scared.”

Lu Lin squatted down again, and patted his head. “Be careful when you nap in the afternoon, don’t press on the IV line. I’ll be back at 7 in the evening.”

“Okay.”

Shi Sheng reluctantly let go of his hand and watched as Lu Lin tucked him in.

As for Lu Lin being a firefighter, it didn’t seem too surprising. However, the fact that he was his boyfriend made Shi Sheng bury himself in thought under the blanket, still unable to determine his own orientation.

Lu Lin walked to the door, turned his head back again to look at the raised blanket, and a smile appeared in his eyes.

After all, it was a blessing from heaven to be able to see him again.

Earlier he had received a call from Shi Sheng, so he casually pressed the speakerphone button. Instead, a unfamiliar female voice came through:

“Hello? Hello? May I ask if you are Mr. Shi Sheng’s relative or friend?”

“What’s going on?” He was chatting with colleagues, holding a biscuit, thinking it was another prank by Shi Sheng. However, the voice on the other end of the phone paused for a moment before continuing.

“Well, sir, he was in an accident and was brought to our hospital. Could you come over?”

“His head was severely injured, and he’s currently in critical condition…”

A buzzing sound had filled Lu Lin’s ears, like a heavy hammer striking down. His smile froze on his face, and he stared blankly, stunned.

“Are you still there? If you’re unable to come, can you contact other relatives of the patient?”

“Hello?”

After a long time, he heard his own voice, but it seemed like the voice wasn’t coming from his mouth, it was hoarse and rough, his throat choked.

“Where is he?”

“At Fuyi Hospital.”

He rushed out of the door like the wind, hearing his colleagues shout behind him. “Lu Lin! Lu Lin, slow down!”

Few people knew, and Shi Sheng didn’t remember, but Lu Lin’s mother had died in a car accident during his senior year of high school. For a long time afterward, every time he saw a passing truck, his fingertips would tremble involuntarily.

He descended the stairs, put on his helmet, and rode his motorcycle, heading straight out of the command center towards the hospital.

Luckily, this time the grim reaper wasn’t so heartless. When Shi Sheng was pushed out of the operating room, Lu Lin, sweaty, stopped in the corridor, gasping for air and pulling his lips apart.

“…As long as he’s alive.”
