In the afternoon, Shi Sheng sat in the cafe with Lu Yin, playing games and browsing B station.
Sheng took a sip of his cappuccino, glancing at Lu Yin’s record of 0-13 in the game, he remarked, “Your dad asked you to take me out, and this is what you chose?”
“Well, there’s nothing much fun around here, and we’ve played everything to death,” Lu Yin tossed her phone aside and leaned over to see Shi Sheng reading the comments on the video of the book recommendation from before.
She saw the title “Lowly UP Written into Original Work of Magical Daily Life” and burst into laughter.
She didn’t expect them to like this kind of protagonist with colorful hair, but they seemed to enjoy the part where he was tied up with a bunch of boxers flying around, along with some expressions that Shi Sheng didn’t understand.
“What does this mean, these sweating profusely emojis and speechless, do they think I recommended it too vulgarly and are disgusted with me?” Shi Sheng frowned unhappily.
“Not really,” Lu Yin was taken aback, leaning over to look and then disdainfully glancing at him, “This doesn’t mean speechless, it means sweating and sticking out your tongue because it’s too sensual.”
“What?”
Shi Sheng scrolled down to read the comments.
@Today: Shi Wusheng is so cute, I want to stir him up!!
@Dan Gai Sima: [Sticking out tongue emoji] [Sticking out tongue emoji] [Sticking out tongue emoji]
…
So it’s because it’s too sensual, not because they’re completely speechless?
Shi Sheng scratched his head and silently deleted his previous reply, which was full of anger, asking, “Is this interesting to you guys?” He almost scolded the cute fans, feeling guilty.
“This is getting a lot of traffic,” Lu Yin exclaimed, “I think you can do a few more episodes. Just talk about your and my brother’s stories, and a lot of people will watch.”
“Forget about that, but I’ve gained a lot of followers on Weibo. The studio has been using this as a gimmick to increase traffic, almost exposing all my secrets.”
Shi Sheng shook his head. The studio had been guiding the comments all along, saying that the protagonist in the novel was based on him in real life, and that he had a boyfriend who was a firefighter. The fans on Weibo were all rushing in because of him.
At noon, Feng Guoqiang asked the public relations department to organize a lottery, and the prizes also had to be related to them.
Shi Sheng rubbed his chin, and Li Ting, who was in charge of publicity, came over to ask him for ideas. What ideas could he have? He couldn’t give Lu Lin away as a prize.
Meanwhile, Lu Lin was just returning to the dormitory after showering, and he sent a photo of his abs to Shi Sheng in front of the mirror.
Shi Sheng was lost in thought, and when he saw Lu Lin’s message, he replied somewhat absentmindedly, casually clicking on the most recently used emoji and sending: [Sticking out tongue emoji] [Sticking out tongue emoji] [Sticking out tongue emoji]
Red53: …
Red53: So strange, look again.
Shi Sheng told him about the situation and asked for Lu Lin’s opinion.
After a while, Lu Lin sent a photo of his thermos, which had the logo of the Chinese fire rescue service and a shield emblem.
“What’s this for?”
“The Fire Department is selling cups, and I can sponsor them as a friend. Each one costs over a hundred, so it should be fine for the lottery,” he sent a few more pictures, “Fire safety promotional gifts and peripherals.”
“Wow, you guys even have peripherals.” Shi Sheng was amazed.
“Of course, fire safety propaganda requires gifts. Next time, I’ll grab some for you. If you’re late, the girls in the unit will snatch them all.”
“Great, I’ll go back to the PR department.” Shi Sheng clapped his hands. Whenever he had difficulties, he would ask Lu Lin. He always had a solution.
Li Ting from the PR department also asked him if he had any other ideas for prizes. Shi Sheng thought for a moment. “How about a few copies of Wu San?”
Li Ting: …
After finishing up, Shi Sheng dragged Lu Yin to the mall. He always had a purpose when he went out.
“Ding ding ding, how about this suit?” In the suit store, he picked out a suit and gestured to Lu Yin.
Lu Yin glanced up and down. “What’s this for, it doesn’t suit you.”
“This is for Uncle.”
“You’re quite something,” Lu Yin finally perked up a bit, leaning against the door with a sly look in her eyes. “Trying to please your future father-in-law, huh? Then, do I also need to—”
Shi Sheng put down the suit and flicked her forehead. “If you need money, find your brother.”
“You’re half my brother. I don’t even know who Lu Lin is,” Lu Yin pleaded with a pleading expression, following behind Shi Sheng with a smile.
“How come I’ve never seen you have this good attitude before?”
“Nonsense, my attitude has always been very good.” Lu Yin, with her hands behind her back, felt somewhat guilty. Because of excessive spending this month, she was reported by her cousin, resulting in her credit card being suspended. It was rare to have a chance for extravagant spending, so she had to hold onto this golden opportunity.
In the following time, under Lu Yin’s persuasion, Shi Sheng maxed out a credit card, then struggled to carry seven or eight big bags for Lu Dad, Cui Hong, and Lu Yin, staggering towards the parking lot.
Lu Yin happily spun around in front, while Shi Sheng shouted from afar, “Lu Yin, you bought it yourself, so carry it yourself!”
“Coming.”
Shi Sheng shook his head helplessly, about to urge her, when suddenly he slipped.
With a bang, the bags scattered, and he fell backward to the ground, screaming in pain, feeling a sharp pain in his butt.
“Sheng!” Lu Yin hurriedly ran up, “Oh my goodness, are you okay?”
“Ah…”
In the evening, Lu Lin drove back again after being out for an hour.
He pushed the door open and found Lu Yin standing in the corner, looking miserable, with her hands twisted and fingers entwined. When he turned his head and saw Lu Songnian, he paused.
“Dad, why are you wearing a suit at home?”
Lu Songnian was sitting on the sofa, drinking tea, seemingly too lazy to respond to him. Cui Hong, wearing a new qipao, came down from upstairs and saw Lu Lin.
“Oh, a busy person who rarely shows up even once a month. How come I’ve seen you twice in three days? It’s really rare.” She went to take the bag from Lu Lin’s back, and turned around, “How do I look, is it pretty?”
“Beautiful.” Lu Lin looked around at the strange atmosphere.
“It was specially bought for me this afternoon by my son,” Cui Hong smiled and leaned against the edge of the sofa, patting Lu Songnian’s shoulder with one hand, “He also bought a suit for your dad. Look, this son is more filial than your own, isn’t he, Lao Lu?”
“That’s true.”
“With him around, it doesn’t matter if we don’t have our biological one.”
“We can’t count on him.”
“Why not keep Xiao Shi here? From now on, he can be filial to both of us every day.”
Lu Songnian raised his eyebrows, but Lu Lin couldn’t hold back anymore.
“Where’s Sheng?”
“He went out with your disobedient sister, got injured, and now he’s lying in his room,” Cui Hong whispered something to Lu Songnian, then looked up, but Lu Lin was already gone.
“Where did Xiao Lin go?”
Facing the wall, Lu Yin turned her head and replied, “Went upstairs.”
Lu Lin pushed open the door, and in the dimly lit room, he couldn’t see Shi Sheng’s figure. The wind blew the curtains, and moonlight floated on the floor. Behind the slightly rough curtains, something seemed to be swaying on the windowsill.
Lu Lin casually threw the bag on the bed, opened the curtains, and saw Shi Sheng lying on the window’s cushioned seat, swinging his legs back and forth, fully absorbed in reading a comic book. He looked up and was stunned to see him.
“You said you were too busy to come back recently, so why are you back again?”
Lu Lin looked at him up and down, relieved to see that he seemed fine. “Missed you. Where did you hurt yourself?”
“My butt.” Shi Sheng had already taken a shower, wearing a pair of sports shorts, swinging his fair calves back and forth. He kicked Lu Lin with his foot. “I’m fine.”
“Let me see.”
“Hey, wait—” Shi Sheng hadn’t finished speaking when Lu Lin had already pulled down his pants, revealing a large bruise on his butt, which made Lu Lin’s expression darken.
He rubbed and massaged it with his fingertips, “Why were you so careless?”
“Does it hurt?”
Shi Sheng rested his head on his hand, turned his head slightly, and looked at him with a smile.
Lin Lin got up and went to the bathroom. It didn’t take long for him to come back with a hot towel, which he placed on Shi Sheng’s butt for a warm compress. Feeling the warmth spreading, Shi Sheng hummed in enjoyment.
“You’ve handled my family pretty well. Thanks for your hard work,” Lin Lin rubbed his head, only to be pushed away by Shi Sheng.
“What are you doing? Don’t rub my head after touching my butt.”
“…”
Lin Lin leaned down and kissed him on the forehead. “I mean it seriously. You’ve done a good job.”
“Well, I don’t have parents, so otherwise, you’d have to go through a lot to win their approval as well,” Shi Sheng rubbed against him, chuckling.
As the towel cooled down, Lin Lin saw that the bruise had faded a bit and prepared to apply warm water again. However, Shi Sheng climbed up from the window seat, glanced at the bag Lin Lin had placed aside, and curiously opened it. From inside, he pulled out a fluffy ball with a spiral metal head.
After studying it for a while, he realized it was a rabbit tail.
“No wonder you said you were too busy but still came back today.”
Shi Sheng saw through someone’s true nature in an instant, looked around, and hid it away.
Lin Lin pushed the door open and resumed applying the warm compress.
Moonlight cast its glow, and the soft light from the street lamps outside illuminated the surroundings. Occasionally, middle-aged ladies and gentlemen passed by on a stroll, making the night exceptionally serene.
The warmth from the compress made Shi Sheng feel a little drowsy, but Lu Lin’s hand on his butt started to misbehave. He swatted away Lin Lin’s hand, but it quickly returned. Shi Sheng tried to roll over and crawl into the bedroom, but he was pulled back.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
“Xiao Shi, Mr. Lu asked me to come and ask if your fall was serious. Do you need to go to the hospital?”
Shi Sheng was about to respond when he was suddenly gagged, and then his body trembled as Lin Lin hugged him from behind without saying a word.
Zheng Ma pushed open the door, glanced around to see if anyone was there, then closed it curiously.
Outside, Zheng Ma’s voice could be heard.
“Yes, Mr. Lu. Maybe Lin Lin took Xiao Shi out for a walk.”
Shi Sheng was forcibly pressed against the window, his hands pressed against the glass. Lin Lin approached from behind and bit his ear. “Our house doesn’t have such good soundproofing. This is the farthest place from the corridor.”
“But this is a floor-to-ceiling window…”
“It’s okay, no one can see.”
