Chapter 44
Chapter 44: You’ve never pampered me like that
“Alright.” Gu Bai pressed a hand on each head, his expression emotionless, “If you continue to chase and play, I’ll have to punish you.”
Chase and play???
Sang Nian almost choked.
She was clearly trying to kill him!
Shen Mingchao also shouted:
“Senior Brother, this stinky girl is clearly trying to kill me! You must punish her!”
“What happened?”
A man in embroidered clothes, with a jade pendant hanging from his waist, walked over slowly.
It was Song Lanfeng, who happened to be inspecting.
He was followed by several elders, including the Fourth Elder who had just returned from a business trip.
Gu Bai stepped forward and bowed, explaining:
“Reporting to the Sect Master, it’s Sang Nian, she… can’t learn sword flying.”
Song Lanfeng, with his hands behind his back, raised an eyebrow: “Oh?”
The Fourth Elder scolded:
“She can’t even learn such a simple technique as sword flying? How did she enter the Xiaoyao sect?”
Being publicly executed in front of the principal and the headmaster, Sang Nian’s face was burning, she couldn’t help but whisper in rebuttal:
“I actually learned the technique, it’s just that it doesn’t look very elegant.”
The Fourth Elder said sharply: “You dare talk back?”
Sang Nian didn’t dare to say anything.
Gu Bai bowed: “Disciple will teach Junior Sister well, so that she can learn sword flying as soon as possible.”
The Fourth Elder snorted heavily:
“If you can’t teach her, don’t punish her, just let her real master teach her, so as to avoid gossip.”
The atmosphere was very tense.
Sang Nian couldn’t help but wonder if Yan Yuan had offended the Fourth Elder somewhere in the past.
Suddenly, Song Lanfeng smiled lightly:
“Nian Nian, come forward.”
Everyone made way for a passage, Sang Nian walked to him.
Song Lanfeng summoned his own sword Qingyun, he smiled:
“Go up, I’ll teach you how to fly a sword.”
Hearing this, everyone was startled.
The Sect Master personally taught sword flying, using the Sect Master’s sword…
No one had ever received such treatment.
Even Wen Buyu, the Sect Master’s real disciple, only received a few pointers during his cultivation.
Moreover…
Everyone looked at Chu Yao, who was outside the crowd.
“Dong—”
The heavy sword landed, making a dull thud.
Chu Yao didn’t notice.
She just stared at Sang Nian, her face was ashen.
Su Xueyin grabbed her arm and stammered:
“Ayao, don’t be angry…”
Without warning, Chu Yao forcefully threw her hand away, she pushed through the crowd and ran to Sang Nian.
Sang Nian: “Chu—”
Chu Yao suddenly pushed her away, she turned to look at Song Lanfeng, tears in her eyes:
“Why?”
Sang Nian stumbled a few steps, she was caught by Gu Bai in time.
She looked at Chu Yao, then at Song Lanfeng, who had a sullen face, she was completely confused.
No… what kind of plot twist is this?
Gu Bai whispered in her ear:
“Chu Yao is the Sect Master’s daughter, the Sect Master’s wife died in childbirth, so their father-daughter relationship… isn’t close.”
Sang Nian: ?!!
Facing Chu Yao, Song Lanfeng completely lost his usual gentleness, he said sternly:
“Come with me.”
Chu Yao followed with red eyes.
The two walked to a secluded place.
The cicadas on the trees chirped one after another, heart-wrenchingly.
Chu Yao lowered her head, only looking at her toes.
Song Lanfeng said coldly:
“Why are you bullying your fellow junior sister like this?”
“Junior sister?”
Chu Yao suddenly raised her head, her voice was sharp:
“The thing I regret most in my life is bringing her to the Xiaoyao sect, making her my junior sister!”
“You!”
Song Lanfeng raised his hand to hit her.
Chu Yao wasn’t afraid at all:
“Hit me, it’s better to hit me than to ignore me!”
Song Lanfeng paused, his hand stopped in mid-air.
Tears fell from Chu Yao’s eyes one by one:
“Since I was a child, you’ve never treated me like you treated her.”
“You’ve never given me a sword, nor have you bought me candied haws or straw-woven grasshoppers to make me happy.”
She held back a sob, she said word by word:
“You’ve never taught me sword flying with Qingyun sword like you did today, never, not once.”
“If you treated others the same way you treated me, I could still convince myself, but she came, and everything is different.”
“I’m jealous of Sang Nian, I’m so jealous of her! No matter how hard I try, you don’t see me!”
After saying that, Chu Yao squatted down, burying her face in her arms and sobbing.
Song Lanfeng was silent.
After a long time, he withdrew his hand without saying a word, he turned to leave.
Chu Yao grabbed a corner of his clothes, she raised her tear-stained face, looking helpless like a child:
“Father, don’t leave, I was wrong, I shouldn’t have…”
Song Lanfeng sighed: “Chu Yao, you disappoint me.”
Chu Yao froze suddenly.
He pulled his clothes away and strode away.
Chu Yao couldn’t recover for a long time.
A handkerchief was handed to her.
She moved her eyes numbly, when she saw who it was, she cried even harder.
“What are you doing here? Are you here to laugh at me?”
Sang Nian quickly shook her head.
Chu Yao pushed her hand away and wiped her face fiercely with her sleeve.
Sang Nian squatted down beside her:
“So you suddenly dislike me because of your father.”
Chu Yao glared at her with red eyes, pretending to be fierce:
“It’s not dislike, it’s jealousy, I’m so jealous of you.”
Sang Nian smiled:
“Yeah, it’s good to say it out loud like this, you were holding it in all the time, it must have been hard.”
Chu Yao continued to glare at her: “If I said it, wouldn’t I seem petty?”
“You are petty.” Sang Nian patted her head.
Chu Yao turned her head to avoid her hand, she was about to explode, but Sang Nian said again:
“But we’re not saints, jealousy or pettiness are all human nature.”
“You’re no exception, neither am I. But it’s wrong of you to deliberately target and ostracize me because of this.”
Chu Yao was silent, after a while she said:
“Sorry.”
Sang Nian kept patting her head, she explained:
“The Sect Master takes care of me because my mother was his junior sister.”
Chu Yao was surprised: “What?”
“No one knows about this except the Sect Master and the elders.”
Sang Nian roughly explained what happened, and finally said:
“I’ve never seen my mother since I was born, my brother said she was seriously injured and died in childbirth when she gave birth to me.”
Chu Yao mumbled:
“My mother also died in childbirth, they all said I killed her.”
“Even father… said so.”
So that’s why the Sect Master was so cold to her?
Sang Nian paused, she gently put her arm around her shoulder, she hugged her:
“It’s not your fault.”
Chu Yao lowered her head, “It’s my fault.”
Sang Nian said: “Okay, it’s your fault.”
Chu Yao pushed her, she was furious: “Why are you like this?”
Sang Nian looked innocent, “What can I do if you insist on thinking that way?”
Chu Yao gritted her teeth: “Will you die if you comfort me a little?”
Sang Nian’s eyes curved, “Do you still hate me?”
Chu Yao emphasized: “I said it’s jealousy, not hate.”
Sang Nian changed the question: “Are you still jealous of me?”
Chu Yao thought about it seriously: “Jealous, but a little better than before.”
Sang Nian nodded, she said seriously:
“Now you can apologize to me.”
Chu Yao looked at her with red eyes, “I already apologized.”
Sang Nian said:
“You apologized for deliberately ignoring me all this time, but what about pushing me just now?”
Chu Yao said in a mosquito-like voice:
“Sorry, I was… really sorry then, I’ll compensate you.”
Sang Nian smiled and pinched her cheek:
“It’s good to know your mistakes and correct them, you don’t have to compensate too much, just give me five million spirit stones.”
Chu Yao exploded:
“You’re younger than me, you have to call me Little Senior Sister like A Yin.”
Sang Nian said: “You’re not fifteen yet, I’m two years older than you, you have to call me sister.”
Chu Yao: “I won’t!”
Sang Nian: “Then I won’t call you either.”
The two stared at each other.
I don’t know who broke the stalemate first, they both burst out laughing.
Sang Nian poked her with her elbow:
“The new house on Guzhu Peak will be finished tomorrow, come and have dinner with Xue Yin and the others.”
Chu Yao looked arrogant: “We’ll see.”
Sang Nian didn’t care what she said, she threatened:
“Dare to come empty-handed, you’ll be sorry.”
Chu Yao started to rebel:
“Then I’ll come empty-handed.”
“Okay, you’re sure you’re coming.” Sang Nian patted the dust off her skirt, “I’m going back to practice sword flying.”
Chu Yao: “?”
Chu Yao: “Despicable!”
Sang Nian waved her hand at her back:
“Thanks for the compliment.”
