Chapter 58
Chapter 58: The Young Man Lowered His Eyes, His Rough Fingertips Gently Wiped Away the Blood on Her Cheek
Sang Nian: “You can actually talk?”
Crows One belatedly realized what had happened, covering its mouth with its wing, its expression panicked.
Sang Nian was even more curious, “Are you a spirit-awakened beast? Did you come to find me for something?”
Crows One dared not speak to her again, it turned to fly away.
Without warning, a silver needle pierced through the night, flying straight towards Sang Nian.
It didn’t hit.
It hit Crows One’s wing as it flapped up.
Crows One lowered its head to look at the needle on its wing, slowly forming a question mark.
“I just fed you a mouthful of millet,” Sang Nian was both shocked and touched, “You actually risked yourself to block the dart for me?!”
Crows One trembled and raised a wing feather:
“Block your big…”
Before it could finish, it “Caw”ed and fell backwards stiffly.
Silver needles imbued with spiritual energy shot out like a rainstorm.
Sang Nian quickly cast a spell to block them, seeing that Crows One was about to roll off the windowsill, she didn’t hesitate, she leaned over and grabbed it in her hand.
The back of her hand suddenly hurt.
She turned it over and saw a silver needle deeply embedded in her flesh, the tip still trembling slightly.
A faint bruise spread from the wound.
Sang Nian’s vision went black, she rolled out of the window and fell straight down.
Downstairs, a man who had been waiting for a long time caught her steadily.
He sneered, “Little beauty, you’ve finally fallen into my hands.”
“Caw—”
The crow in Sang Nian’s hand, pretending to be unconscious, suddenly sprang up, seizing the opportunity, it viciously pecked his left eye.
In an instant, his entire eyeball fell out of its socket, bouncing on the ground and rolling to the side.
“Ah!!! You little beast! I’ll kill you!!”
The man covered his bleeding eye and screamed, randomly releasing darts in all directions.
“Bang—”
The crow was hit and fell to the ground, its body convulsing uncontrollably.
It turned its head to look at the unconscious girl, croaked a sound, picked up the eyeball and climbed back up, flying away unsteadily.
By the riverbank.
“It’s not fair, Young Master, the Qingfeng City incident wasn’t done by our people.”
Crows Two knelt on the ground, indignant, “If it were us, we’d want the whole world to know, to spread the fame of our Shura Palace.”
“It’s clearly a scheme by those cultivators, they’re blaming us for everything, it’s outrageous!”
Xie Chenzhou’s smile was sarcastic, “This is what the righteous sects are like.”
Crows Two was about to say something else, when a scream suddenly rang out in the night.
Xie Chenzhou’s expression instantly turned serious.
A crow flew in shakily and landed on Crows Two’s palm.
It spat out the eyeball, its breath weak.
Crows Two: “How did you get so injured?!”
Crows One struggled to say, “Young Master, your subordinate is incompetent, Miss Sang… was taken away.”
A sudden clap of thunder echoed in the sky.
Crows Two abruptly turned to look at Xie Chenzhou.
Xie Chenzhou was unexpectedly calm.
The wind whipped up the hem of his robe, he raised his eyes to look into the depths of the night, and faintly uttered a single word:
“Chase.”
His long boots stomped down heavily, crushing the blood-stained eyeball.
On his shoes, the gluttonous pattern outlined in gold thread was ferocious and terrifying, as if it were about to devour someone.
The wind and clouds were churning, a heavy rain was about to come.
Another clap of thunder.
Sang Nian suddenly woke up.
It was a dilapidated temple, cobwebs hung from the beams, dust covered the floor.
She was carelessly thrown onto a pile of straw, the poison had spread throughout her body, her meridians were sealed, she couldn’t move.
The flickering firelight cast a hunched figure on the wall.
Suddenly, the shadow moved, turning its side face towards her.
She quickly closed her eyes.
“Still pretending?” The person strode forward, forcefully pinching her jaw.
Sang Nian opened her eyes in pain, startled by the scene before her.
The person in front of her was the man who had harassed her in the tea shop.
Except, his left eye was now empty, the eyeball was gone without a trace.
It was extremely eerie.
Sang Nian’s scalp tingled, a cold sweat broke out on her back.
He noticed her gaze, and smiled, “Scared?”
Sang Nian didn’t speak.
He suddenly stopped smiling, and said sharply, “This is all thanks to you! All because of that damn crow you raised!”
Sang Nian was startled, “What did you do to it?”
“Little beauty, you can barely take care of yourself, and you’re still worried about a bird?”
He scanned her body up and down, his voice icy, “I lost an eye, naturally I’ll get it back a thousandfold from you.”
“After I’m tired of playing, your eye”
He touched her left eye, his fingertips pressing down slightly, causing her pain.
“Will be mine.”
Sang Nian forced herself to stay calm and asked, “Who are you?”
“Me?” He sneered, “It doesn’t matter if I tell you.”
“I am Wan Lu, the young master of the Ten Thousand Poison sect,” he said slowly, “The one your master Yan Yuan beat up a while ago, was my father, the head of the Ten Thousand Poison sect.”
Wan Lu reached out to pull at the strings of her clothes, a heavy malice flashing across his face, “Today, we’ll settle both old and new scores.”
Sang Nian: “Liu Liu!”
The yellow little parrot appeared out of thin air, flapping its wings and charging over, “You bastard, let go of my master!”
Bang—!!!
The man was hit hard on the back of his head.
His body swayed, he staggered back two steps, reached out to touch his head, his fingertips were stained red.
Before he could react, Liu Liu flapped its wings again.
“Bang—!”
Another hit, he completely lost his balance and fell to the ground.
Only then did he see what had hurt him.
A bird egg.
A bird, swinging a bird egg, knocked him down.
Wan Lu’s expression gradually froze.
Liu Liu hopped onto his face, clawed at his right eye, and threatened viciously, “Give her the antidote! Otherwise, I’ll peck your other eye out!”
Wan Lu took a deep breath and compromised, “Fine, I’ll give her the antidote.”
He slowly stood up and pulled out a porcelain bottle from his bosom, “This is the antidote.”
“Take one yourself first.” Liu Liu said.
Wan Lu did as he was told.
Liu Liu, seeing that he was fine, finally relaxed and stuffed the antidote into Sang Nian’s mouth.
Sang Nian’s stiff limbs suddenly loosened.
Almost at the same time, Wan Lu, taking advantage of its distraction, summoned a poisoned dagger, and slashed it down.
Sang Nian’s pupils constricted.
“Puchi”
The next second, the blade pierced into her body.
Blood spurted out, a few drops splattering on her face.
Warm.
She stared down blankly.
A black long sword pierced through her body, stopping dangerously three inches in front of her.
A thick drop of blood slowly dripped from the tip of the sword.
Suddenly, the blade retracted.
Wan Lu’s eyes widened, his lips trembled, he made a gurgling sound in his throat, and fell to the side.
Behind him was a collapsed wall, unscattered dust, and The young man holding the sword.
“Boom—!”
The final clap of thunder, lightning split the night sky, illuminating the young man’s dark eyes.
The long-suppressed wind swept in, stirring the silent, deathly night.
The rain poured down.
The unique earthy smell of summer mixed with the smell of blood spread out.
He sheathed his sword, his figure slender and upright.
Sang Nian came to her senses and called out his name softly, “…Xie Chenzhou.”
Xie Chenzhou lifted his eyelids, walked towards her, and raised his hand.
She had never seen him like this before, she was a little afraid, and subconsciously closed her eyes.
That hand paused in mid-air, then gently landed on her face.
She opened one eye and secretly peeked at him.
The young man lowered his eyes, his rough fingertips gently wiped away the blood on her cheek
Because of his constant swordsmanship, his fingertips had grown a layer of calluses, which felt a little prickly when they slid across her skin.
It didn’t hurt, but it strangely made her feel at ease.
Only then did Sang Nian truly relax completely.
“Xie Chenzhou, how did the wall collapse?” She asked.
“I don’t know.” He said.
“Then how did you know I was captured?”
“I heard it.”
“Who did you hear it from?”
“A useless crow.”
“Is it yours?”
“Yes.”
“Is it okay? Is it injured anywhere?”
“Sang Nian,” Xie Chenzhou tightened his grip, pinched her cheek and shook it, “Do you know, you almost died just now.”
Sang Nian was forced to look up at him, she pushed his chest randomly, her voice a little unclear, “Let go, let go.”
He refused.
“Xie Chenzhou!”
She simply learned from him and pinched him, fiercely, “Let go, or I’ll strangle you.”
Xie Chenzhou chuckled very softly.
He took the hand she had placed on his face and moved it inch by inch to her neck.
“To kill someone, you pinch here.”
