Chapter 14: Why Are You Blushing?
Tang Liyue jolted awake from her dream, sitting up straight in bed.
She was awake, but her mind still hadn’t fully escaped the grip of the dream.
Her hand instinctively moved to her chest, as if trying to stop the man’s intrusive touch.
But instead of his hand, she only felt the softness of her own body, and the rapid pounding of her heart, like a war drum echoing in her ears.
It took her a moment to process reality, and she muttered dazedly, “Thank goodness… it was just a dream.”
As she was still in a daze, a sudden knock on the door made her freeze.
Accompanied by a familiar voice.
“Liyue? Are you not in your room?”
Tang Liyue’s breath caught in her throat, her heartbeat stuttering for a second.
It took her a moment before she managed to reply in a raised voice.
“I’m here!”
“Did you forget to set your alarm? It’s time for breakfast.”
Tang Liyue quickly fumbled for her phone and checked the time, it was already close to 8 AM.
“Ah, oh! I’ll be right there!”
“Alright, I’ll head to the dining room first. Don’t be late.”
“Got it!”
Only after hearing the distant sound of Yu Minchuan’s wheelchair rolling away did Tang Liyue finally let out a long breath of relief.
Then, covering her flushed face with her hands, she mumbled to herself.
“Why… why did hearing Minchuan’s voice just now make me feel like I was caught cheating?”
“And… why did I have that kind of dream?!”
The images from her dream replayed in her mind, merging with the real memories of that night.
Her face burned.
Even the spot on her thigh that had been touched in the dream felt strangely warm.
Her heart was an absolute mess.
Tang Liyue quickly patted her cheeks to snap herself out of it. Only after her heartbeat settled did she get up, wash up, and head out.
The moment she stepped out of her room, she was met with the long hallway.
Her footsteps faltered.
To get downstairs, she had to pass by two rooms, Yu Mo Yuan’s and Yu Minchuan’s.
After last night’s dream, just seeing those two doors made her heart pound with unease.
Tang Liyue swallowed, tiptoeing quickly to pass through.
But sometimes, the more you fear something, the more it happens.
Just as she reached the space between the two doors, With a sharp “creak”, Yu Mo Yuan’s door swung open from the inside.
Tang Liyue’s body stiffened in shock, her footsteps halting as if her muscles had locked up.
Slowly, almost mechanically, she turned her head.
And met Yu Mo Yuan’s gaze, straight on.
One was flustered and panicked, while the other was drowsy and lazy.
Yu Mo Yuan seemed to have just woken up. His short, slightly rough hair was still unkempt, lazily falling over his forehead. This slightly tousled look softened his usual cold sharpness and gave him a hint of casual roguish charm.
His looks were downright unfair, just one glance was enough to make it hard to look away.
But after having that kind of dream, Tang Liyue was feeling incredibly guilty. She quickly averted her gaze from Yu Mo Yuan’s face, And then, her eyes landed on his suit.
This suit…
Why did it look exactly like the one in her dream?!
The only difference was that in the dream, every single button had been neatly fastened.
But right now, his tie was missing, and his collar was left wide open, revealing his well-defined chest.
Tang Liyue’s face instantly turned red.
Yu Mo Yuan caught every change in her expression. He let his gaze linger on her flushed cheeks before raising a brow.
“Why are you blushing?”
“I’m not! I’m not blushing!” Tang Liyue denied instinctively.
Yu Mo Yuan’s eyes darkened slightly as he glanced toward Yu Minchuan’s tightly shut door. His brows immediately furrowed.
“What did you and Minchuan do?”
…?
What could she possibly do with Yu Minchuan?!
At first, Tang Liyue didn’t even understand what he was implying.
But when she saw the anger creeping into his gaze, she instantly caught on.
Her eyes widened in disbelief. “What nonsense are you thinking?! Do you think Minchuan is as shameless as you?”
Hearing her tone, it seemed like nothing had actually happened between her and Yu Minchuan.
Only then did Yu Mo Yuan’s anger slightly subside.
The corner of his lips curled up, and he casually handed his tie to her. “Tie it for me.”
Tang Liyue turned her head away. “I don’t know how!”
“Three.”
Tang Liyue immediately spun around, turning her back to him.
“Two.”
She swallowed nervously.
“One”
“Fine! I’ll do it, okay?!”
Tang Liyue had been single her entire life and had never really interacted with any men, so she genuinely didn’t know how to tie a tie.
But she didn’t dare refuse, Yu Mo Yuan’s presence was too overwhelming. Defying him would only lead to disaster.
She took the tie from him. “Can you lower your head?”
Yu Mo Yuan was nearly 1.9 meters tall, around 1.88 meters, while Tang Liyue was only 1.65 meters. Wearing flat shoes, she struggled to reach his neck with the tie.
Seeing how reluctant she was, Yu Mo Yuan didn’t push it too much. He slightly bent down, lowering his head just enough.
Even with this, the height difference was still not enough. Tang Liyue had to stand on her toes to drape the tie around his neck, then raised her hands to tuck the tie into his collar.
This motion brought them closer together.
Yu Mo Yuan didn’t need to turn his head to smell the faint lily of the valley fragrance from her hair.
Looking down, he could see her delicate, slender neck, still marked with the traces he had left the night before.
“Done!”
While Yu Mo Yuan was in a daze, Tang Liyue had already finished tying the tie and stepped back to put some distance between them.
Yu Mo Yuan furrowed his brows, seemingly displeased with how quickly she had done it.
However, he didn’t say anything. Instead, he looked down at the tie.
“This is how you tie a tie?”
Tang Liyue pouted. “I told you I didn’t know how, but you didn’t believe me…”
It really was badly done, so messy.
But Yu Mo Yuan didn’t get angry. As he untied the tie, he walked past her toward the stairs.
Walking and speaking, he said, “There are tutorials online. Don’t tie it wrong again in the future.”
“Huh? In the future?”
Tang Liyue quickly trotted after him. “Why do I have to tie your tie?”
“No reason.”
“I refuse!”
Yu Mo Yuan didn’t turn around. “You can refuse, as long as you’re willing to bear the consequences of me being unhappy.”
Tang Liyue pouted, her steps slowing down.
Once she had put some distance between them, she stomped her feet in frustration, muttering to herself, “Shameless! Overbearing! Unreasonable!”
Up ahead, Yu Mo Yuan paused for a moment, then smirked, letting her rant behind him.
It was, without a doubt, a delightful morning.
