Chapter 27: Tang Liyue’s Stunning Makeup
Second Floor.
Tang Liyue walked to the door of Yu Minchuan’s room and knocked.
The person who opened the door was Yu Qi, who was likely there to help Yu Minchuan with his morning routine, getting him ready for the day.
“Is it Liyue?” Yu Minchuan asked from inside.
Tang Liyue responded, “It’s me. I boiled two eggs. Would you like one?”
“Let Yu Qi bring them in. I’m not really in the mood to see you right now,” Yu Minchuan’s tone sounded somewhat weary.
Tang Liyue was puzzled, “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” Yu Minchuan replied just as a dull thud came from inside the room.
It sounded like someone had fallen, followed by a groan of pain.
Yu Qi’s expression changed immediately, and he quickly turned to rush into the room.
Without Yu Qi blocking the view, Tang Liyue could see Yu Minchuan, who had fallen beside the bed.
He had just woken up and was still wearing soft cotton pajamas. His short hair was tousled, not yet styled.
His beautiful eyes were now red, either from the fall or from the embarrassment.
It seemed he had tried to move to his wheelchair on his own but had failed.
Yu Qi helped Yu Minchuan into the wheelchair, his face full of worry. “Young Master, are you alright?”
Yu Minchuan shook his head lightly, then looked up at the door where Tang Liyue stood, offering a bitter smile. “So you saw me… in such a sorry state.”
Tang Liyue’s heart clenched painfully.
The sight of Yu Minchuan like this was heartbreaking.
Every time he had appeared before, he was graceful and elegant, even sitting in a wheelchair with the poise of a noble prince.
But now, with his tired expression and red eyes, he looked like a forsaken dog, abandoned and unloved.
If Tang Liyue were in Yu Minchuan’s shoes, she wouldn’t want anyone to see her like this either.
She paused, feeling it would be inappropriate to enter at that moment.
After a brief thought, Tang Liyue gave him a sweet smile.
“I think now we can truly call ourselves friends.”
Yu Minchuan was confused.
Tang Liyue explained, “When we first met, I was crying in a corner, looking a mess. I wasn’t any better than you. And now, I’ve seen you in a similar state. That makes us even, right? True friends are the ones who aren’t afraid to show each other their worst sides.”
Her words made Yu Minchuan smile again.
“Although you’re making excuses, I do feel much better now.”
Tang Liyue smiled and placed the eggs at the door. “Make sure to eat the eggs! I won’t disturb you while you get ready.”
“Okay.”
Tang Liyue closed the door for him.
Inside the room.
Once the door was closed, Yu Minchuan’s smile faded.
He touched his numb leg and lowered his head, gazing down with his eyes closed as he asked softly, “Do you think she felt sorry for me?”
Yu Qi replied, “Of course. But Young Master, what’s the real purpose behind this little act? Are you just trying to make the Young Madam feel sorry for you?”
“Purpose?” Yu Minchuan leaned back in his chair, a complex smile forming on his face. “You’ll understand soon enough.”
Around 8:00 AM, the maid came to notify Tang Liyue that for the next half month, there was no need to go to the main building for breakfast.
This was likely because Yu Mo Yuan was on a business trip, and with not all of the Yu family present, there was no need to force the breakfast gathering.
This was good news for Tang Liyue.
Around 8:30 AM, she prepared to leave for work by bus.
She saw herself as an outsider, so she didn’t want the Yu family’s driver to take her.
In the living room on the first floor, Zhao Lian Er was sitting on the sofa, filing her nails. When she heard Tang Liyue’s footsteps downstairs, she looked up.
It wasn’t a big deal until she saw Tang Liyue’s appearance, and her expression immediately soured.
Because today, Tang Liyue looked like a completely different person!
Previously, Tang Liyue didn’t wear any makeup, and she always wore simple, worn-out dresses. Though she could still be considered beautiful, she didn’t stand out enough to amaze anyone.
But now, Tang Liyue had put on light makeup and was wearing a sexy yet sweet professional outfit.
Tang Liyue had a small face, and her delicate features were in perfect harmony on her face. Her eyebrows were slightly arched, and her eyes were filled with water, making anyone want to gaze at her and get closer to her.
This Tang Liyue! She was actually this beautiful? And her figure was this good?
Tang Liyue didn’t notice the growing hostility in Zhao Lian Er’s eyes and greeted her with a smile.
“Good morning, Miss Zhao, I’m heading out.”
“Wait! Stop right there!”
Tang Liyue froze and looked toward Zhao Lian Er.
Zhao Lian Er immediately stood up from the sofa, pointing at Tang Liyue’s clothes. “Where did you get that outfit? I want it! Go change into something else right now!”
Zhao Lian Er’s domineering words left Tang Liyue dumbfounded.
Tang Liyue replied, “Sorry, this outfit was a gift from Minchuan. Passing along a gift is impolite, so I can’t agree to your request.”
“Minchuan gave it to you?” Zhao Lian Er sneered. “You little fox, you’ve only been here a few days, and Minchuan already cares so much about you! And what’s with the makeup? Didn’t you go barefaced yesterday?”
Tang Liyue had applied makeup because she valued her new job, but she didn’t want to engage with Zhao Lian Er on this matter.
Tang Liyue responded, “Sorry, Miss Zhao, but I don’t have time to chat. I need to catch the bus.”
With that, Tang Liyue walked out the door.
“Hey! Stop right there!”
“Hey! Hey! I’m telling you to stop!”
Zhao Lian Er stomped her feet inside the house, but Tang Liyue pretended not to hear.
It wasn’t that she wasn’t afraid of offending Zhao Lian Er, she was, very much so.
But Tang Liyue knew that Zhao Lian Er wasn’t the type to reason with anyone. Even if she humbled herself and endured all sorts of mistreatment, Zhao Lian Er would find ways to make her life difficult.
Today was her first day at work, and it was crucial that she wasn’t late.
As for Zhao Lian Er’s anger, she’d deal with it after work.
After all, it was probably no worse than the times in the Tang family when her arm was pinched or she was slapped.
To be honest, after these past few days, Tang Liyue felt her courage had grown considerably.
At least she no longer felt the need to cry at the slightest provocation.
Then again, anyone who lived in the Yu household and had to endure the tension and unspoken animosity before breakfast would surely have their courage built up.
