Chapter 40: Song Jun Ye

Tang Liyue found it difficult to look away from Yu Mo Yuan today.

Unlike his usual restrained and sophisticated demeanor in a crisp suit, today, he wore a long black trench coat.

His meticulously styled slicked-back hair was disheveled by the sea breeze, softening his typically severe expression.

The plane came to a stop, and the cabin door opened.

Only then did Tang Liyue snap out of her daze, silently thinking, Some people are just unfairly good-looking…

She picked up her documents, preparing to deboard, but as she reached the cabin door, she hesitated.

The step down from the plane was a bit high, and with her arms full, she couldn’t free a hand to hold the railing.

Just as she was caught in this dilemma, Yu Mo Yuan stepped forward, extending a hand toward her.

Tang Liyue froze for half a second before instinctively handing him her documents.

But instead of taking them, Yu Mo Yuan passed them off to his subordinate, then firmly grasped her wrist.

He spoke in a low voice, “Come down. Be careful.”

Tang Liyue’s face suddenly heated up.

Even through the fabric of her sleeves, she could feel the warmth of his palm.

She quickly used his support to step down, and once she was steady, she hurriedly pulled her hand free.

In a soft voice, she said, “Thank you, Second Uncle…”

Yu Mo Yuan swept a sharp gaze over her, then frowned and said, “Didn’t I tell you it’s cold by the sea?”

“I, I wore long sleeves…”

It was only July, and back home, it was still summer vacation. She had assumed the sea breeze wouldn’t be too cold.

She had miscalculated. The temperature out here felt more like early winter.

Yu Mo Yuan shrugged off his trench coat and, with visible reluctance, tossed it to her.

“Put it on. Follow me.”

His tone was firm, leaving no room for argument.

Tang Liyue had already learned how to deal with Yu Mo Yuan, For small matters, it was best to comply.

As long as she didn’t defy him, things would remain peaceful.

So, her face flushed as she obediently draped his coat over her shoulders.

A subordinate had already brought down her suitcase, and the group began heading toward the ship’s interior.

Tang Liyue curiously took in her surroundings, but before she could look too long, Yu Mo Yuan’s stern voice rang out, “Keep your eyes to yourself. From now on, don’t leave my sight without permission.”

“Huh?” Tang Liyue was stunned.

A subordinate beside them explained patiently, “Assistant Tang, this cruise ship operates on illegal dealings. There are all sorts of people onboard. If you offend the wrong person, you might end up getting thrown into the sea… for the sharks.”

Tang Liyue immediately shrunk back in fear.

“Got it. I won’t wander off.”

Once inside the ship, the subordinates dispersed to handle other tasks, leaving Tang Liyue alone, pushing her suitcase, following behind Yu Mo Yuan.

They walked through a long corridor, eventually stopping in front of an elevator.

As they waited, Yu Mo Yuan tilted his head slightly, casting a glance at Tang Liyue.

“Did you tell Minchuan about your business trip?”

Tang Liyue replied, “Yes, I did.”

Yu Mo Yuan withdrew his gaze, his expression unreadable.

They took the elevator straight to the top floor.

The top floor housed five suites, three of which belonged to Yu Mo Yuan, Qin Shi An, and Yuan Suo.

The remaining two belonged to the other two behind-the-scenes shareholders of OX.

These two shareholders were blood-related brothers, and their status was on par with Yu Mo Yuan’s.

Their influence mainly extended overseas, forming a relationship of both cooperation and mutual restraint with Yu Mo Yuan.

In other words, even Yu Mo Yuan had to show them some respect.

Upon entering Yu Mo Yuan’s suite, he tilted his chin toward the guest bedroom and instructed,

“You’ll sleep there. Unless I call for you, it’s best if you don’t leave the room.”

“Oh, okay.”

Yu Mo Yuan glanced at his watch before continuing, “Get settled in. Meet me at the first-floor restaurant in an hour.”

Then, he added, “Go straight to the first floor. Don’t wander to other levels.”

Tang Liyue obediently nodded. “Got it, Second Uncle.”

With that, Yu Mo Yuan left.

Now, the spacious suite, over a hundred square meters, was completely silent, leaving only Tang Liyue alone.

She looked around.

The top-floor suites were all presidential suites, each equipped with a master bedroom, a guest bedroom, a study, a living room, and a small kitchen, fully furnished, just like an ordinary home.

Tang Liyue entered the guest bedroom and started unpacking.

The temperature was low out at sea, so she took a quick hot shower and changed into warmer clothes, A cream-colored knitted sweater, a pleated midi skirt, and a pair of canvas shoes.

Just as she was about to step out, she noticed the trench coat she had left on the bed.

Yu Mo Yuan had given her his coat earlier… Would he be cold without it?

After a moment of hesitation, she picked up his coat, then headed out.

She hadn’t even pressed the elevator button, when the doors suddenly dinged open.

Inside stood a man wearing sunglasses.

He was about 185 cm tall, appearing to be in his mid-twenties.

He wore a leather jacket, high-top combat boots, and a cowboy hat, with a riding crop in hand.

His carefree, rugged look made him seem like a horseman galloping across the plains.

Except, this wasn’t a prairie.

This was a luxury cruise ship.

Tang Liyue stared in shock.

The man in the elevator also froze.

Not because Tang Liyue was stunning, But because…

He suddenly stepped forward, grabbed her wrist, and asked, his voice filled with excitement, “Who are you?!”

“Ah!”

The man suddenly closed in and grabbed her wrist.

Tang Liyue winced, her small face turning pale in an instant. She instinctively tried to struggle free.

But the difference in strength between men and women was undeniable. Tang Liyue couldn’t break free worse, she was pushed into the corner of the wall.

“I’ll ask you one more time, who are you?”

Realizing she couldn’t escape, Tang Liyue didn’t dare to provoke him further.

She swallowed nervously and stammered, “I-I’m Tang Liyue, Yu Mo Yuan’s assistant.”

“Brother Yuan’s assistant?” The man loosened his grip slightly, then asked, “Who are your parents? Where do you live?”

“W-what do you want?”

Who just walks up to a stranger and starts demanding to know their parents? Tang Liyue hesitated, afraid to answer.

Seeing that he had scared her, the man finally realized his behavior was inappropriate.

He let go of her wrist, took a deep breath to calm himself, and then explained, “I’m sorry. It’s just… you look too much like my mother. She’s been missing for years. My family has been searching for her all this time. I got anxious and startled you.”

Tang Liyue rubbed her sore wrist and muttered, “I look younger than you. There’s no way you’d mistake me for your mother…”

“When my mother disappeared, she was pregnant with my younger sister.”

Hearing this, Tang Liyue finally lowered her guard. “I’m not the person you’re looking for. I have parents.”

“Can I see a photo of your mother?”

Tang Liyue hesitated.

Noticing her reluctance, the man removed his sunglasses and handed her a business card. “I’m Song Jun Ye. You should know me. If I were lying to you, you could expose me to the media.”

Song Jun Ye?

The rock band lead singer who shot to fame a year ago?

Tang Liyue had definitely heard of him, Qin Jiao Jiao was a big fan of his music.

Song Jun Ye added, “I truly mean no harm. I just can’t let go of any potential clue in my search for my mother and sister.”

Hearing this, Tang Liyue softened.

She pulled out her phone and found a family photo from ten years ago, then handed it to Song Jun Ye.

The picture showed Tang Hui, Liu Lian, and Tang Xue Yao.

Song Jun Ye studied it carefully, his face falling in disappointment. “This girl here, is that you? You don’t look alike.”

“That’s my sister. We’re fraternal twins, so we don’t look much alike.”

Song Jun Ye examined the photo again, then glanced at Tang Liyue.

Tang Liyue didn’t resemble Liu Lian at all, but she did bear a slight resemblance to Tang Hui.

Song Jun Ye let out a deep sigh and stepped aside, making way for her. “Sorry for scaring you.”

At that moment, he looked just like a disheartened Tibetan mastiff with its tail down intimidating, but also a little pitiful.

Feeling bad for him, Tang Liyue whispered, “You’ll definitely find your mother and sister. Don’t give up.”

“Thank you.”

Song Jun Ye didn’t feel like talking anymore. He turned and disappeared into his room.

Tang Liyue entered the elevator and headed down to meet Yu Mo Yuan.
