Chapter 45: This Won’t Happen Again
Yu Mo Yuan returned to the suite, only to find that all the lights were off. The living room and study were empty.
He turned to glance at the guest bedroom, no light seeped through the door.
Yu Mo Yuan raised an eyebrow.
She’s already asleep?
Then wasn’t his effort to rush back before midnight completely unnecessary?
Shaking his head with a helpless smile, he turned and walked into his own bedroom.
As soon as he turned on the light, he froze.
Scattered on the floor near the bed were several pieces of women’s clothing.
And lying at the very center of his bed was a flawless, ivory-skinned figure.
She had her back to him, seemingly in a deep sleep, but the sudden brightness made her let out a soft, kitten-like whimper. She shifted slightly, pulling the blanket over her face to block out the light.
That movement was all it took to reveal the most tantalizing view of her body.
Yu Mo Yuan’s eyes darkened, filled with a predatory heat.
A man who had lived twenty-eight years and only ever indulged once… there was no way he could not react to a scene like this.
But he didn’t move forward. Instead, he lowered his gaze, his voice hoarse with restraint.
“Tang Liyue, do you even know what you’re doing?”
“Mmh…” Tang Liyue groaned, covering her ears in protest. “Don’t be so loud…”
Yu Mo Yuan sighed. He walked over, picked up her discarded clothing from the floor, and draped it over her body.
Now that he was closer, he could smell the faint sweetness of fruit wine on her skin.
His frown deepened. “Did you drink too much?”
The feel of fabric over her skin made Tang Liyue squirm uncomfortably.
“I’m not drunk… really, I’m not drunk… I’m just so sleepy… stop talking…”
“Stop talking?”
Yu Mo Yuan let out a low chuckle, half amused, half exasperated. He grabbed the blanket she was hugging, yanking it up to fully cover her, then tapped her forehead with his index finger.
“How about you open your eyes, take a good look at where you are, and see who I am?”
The persistent poking finally roused Tang Liyue from her haze. She groggily reached out, catching Yu Mo Yuan’s hand as she sat up.
The moment her small, soft hand wrapped around his, Yu Mo Yuan stiffened.
And with her sitting up, the blanket slipped from her shoulders, pooling around her chest, half-covering, half-revealing the curves beneath.
The sight of it made Yu Mo Yuan’s breathing turn uneven, his self-control fraying.
He was never really the gentlemanly type. The only reason he held himself back was to avoid scaring the timid Tang Liyue into tears again.
And because he had promised her that he wouldn’t touch her first.
He was keeping his promise.
But Tang Liyue… was she?
Stripping herself bare and lying in his bed, how was he supposed to control himself?
He wasn’t some monk.
Yu Mo Yuan shut his eyes, took a deep breath, and repeated in an icy voice, “Let go of me and go back to your own room.”
A drunk person’s mind was slow and muddled.
Tang Liyue was still stuck on his previous words, “Look at who I am.”
She released Yu Mo Yuan’s hand, pushed herself up on the bed, and rubbed her eyes.
Then, without warning, she reached out, cupped Yu Mo Yuan’s handsome face, and pressed herself into his embrace.
Yu Mo Yuan’s breath hitched. His eyes snapped open, meeting her dazed yet serious gaze.
She was studying him intently, completely oblivious to how dangerous her situation had become.
In her kneeling posture, the blanket slid off entirely, leaving her bare upper body pressed against his chest.
Her soft, delicate face was now less than ten centimeters away from his.
Her body, warm and pliant, slumped against his shoulder as a wave of dizziness washed over her. Instinctively, she wrapped her arms around his neck, holding on to him for support.
Then, in a voice as soft as cotton, she murmured, “I see clearly now… You’re Yu Mo Yuan… You’re Second Uncle…”
Yu Mo Yuan’s voice was already dangerously hoarse. “If you know I’m your Second Uncle, then why are you still hugging me?”
His heart pounded violently in his chest.
And not just his heart.
The most primal part of him was roaring to life.
Tang Liyue, still nuzzling into the crook of his neck, mumbled sleepily, “I’m not hugging you… You’re in my dream again… doing bad things to me…”
Yu Mo Yuan froze.
In her dreams?
Doing bad things?
She had dreamt of him?
Wasn’t she always trying to avoid him?
His lips curled into a smirk. Since she was dreaming, she wouldn’t mind if he played along, would she?
His restraint snapped.
He grasped her slender waist, pulling her even closer. His voice dropped into a deep, seductive rasp.
“And when I did bad things… did you feel good?”
Tang Liyue, still lost in her daze, blinked up at him before pouting in protest.
“No! It hurt! You’re a big bully! You made me hurt so much!”
Yu Mo Yuan’s grip tightened. Beads of sweat formed at his temples as he struggled to hold back.
“Only pain?”
Tang Liyue hesitated, then whispered, “Mmh… After the pain, it felt good… all sore and tingly and numb…”
The moment Tang Liyue uttered those words, Yu Mo Yuan could no longer restrain himself. He pressed the back of her head down and captured her lips in a deep kiss.
He couldn’t let her continue spouting this drunken nonsense.
God knows how seductive her words were.
“Mmph”
Her breath was stolen away. Tang Liyue struggled slightly in discomfort.
But only for a moment.
In her dazed, intoxicated state, she quickly melted into the heat of the moment.
Yu Mo Yuan pushed her down onto the bed, then immediately pinned himself on top of her.
He yanked his tie loose and buried his head in the crook of her slender neck.
But before he could leave a possessive mark, Tang Liyue mumbled in protest.
“Mmh… Blood… smells bad…”
Yu Mo Yuan froze, his body stiffening slightly.
Right.
His tie had gotten stained with blood during the interrogation earlier.
Clenching his jaw, Yu Mo Yuan forced himself up, enduring his burning desire, and walked to the trash can to toss his tie away.
Before he could return to the bed, a knock echoed from the door.
A faint voice followed.
“Second Master, your longevity noodles are here.”
Right. The noodles.
That sudden interruption snapped his remaining rationality back in place.
Yu Mo Yuan took a deep breath and yanked the blanket over Tang Liyue again.
“Damn it… You’re really testing me…”
He glanced at his watch.
The hour and minute hands aligned perfectly at midnight.
It was officially Tang Liyue’s twenty-second birthday.
Yu Mo Yuan couldn’t help but pinch her soft cheek, before grumbling darkly,
“Fine. I’ll let you off this time for your birthday.”
But if she ever seduced him like this again…
He wouldn’t be so merciful.
A gentlemanly restraint?
Once was enough.
Yu Mo Yuan stood up, sighed, and murmured, “Happy birthday.”
Then, without another glance, he left the room, shutting the door behind him.
Taking a moment to compose himself, he let the lingering heat and tension in his body subside before finally heading to open the suite’s main door.
The waiter immediately handed him the tray. “Second Master, your noodles.”
Yu Mo Yuan took it with a dark expression.
Then, BANG!
He slammed the door shut without another word.
