Chapter 9: Long Live the Second Master
At this moment.
In an abandoned factory building on the east side of the city, a man in his forties sat bare-chested on a pile of red bricks.
His face was covered in moles, and he wore dirty, cheap clothes. He was gnawing on a sugarcane, every time he opened his mouth, revealing a mouthful of disgusting yellow teeth.
After a few minutes, the sound of high heels clicking echoed through the empty factory.
Upon hearing someone approach, the mole-faced man’s eyes lit up, and he quickly looked toward the entrance.
At the entrance, a woman in a black lace qipao, wearing luxurious high heels, walked towards the mole-faced man.
Her figure swayed, elegant and stunning, but her expression was as cold as ancient ice.
This woman was the matriarch of the Yu family, Zhao Zhiliu.
She had left breakfast early because she had received a phone call from the mole-faced man.
Since Zhao Zhiliu appeared in the factory, the mole-faced man felt that the sugarcane in his hand no longer tasted sweet. His eyes greedily scanned Zhao Zhiliu’s figure. “Three years without seeing you, Madam, you are still as beautiful as ever!”
Zhao Zhiliu looked coldly at the mole-faced man and spoke directly, “Say it, how much do you want this time?”
“Hehe, not much, I just want three million.”
Three million? Not much?
Zhao Zhiliu was so angry she almost laughed. “Three million may not be much for the Yu family, but why do you think you deserve to live to take it? I remember telling you three years ago, take the money and get out of China, never show your face again, or I’ll make sure you have your life but no way to spend it!”
The mole-faced man pretended to be frightened, clutching his chest in panic. “Oh, I’m so scared.”
Zhao Zhiliu’s face grew darker. “You don’t believe I’ll kill you?”
“Of course I believe! How could I not?”
The mole-faced man shamelessly shoved a piece of sugarcane into his mouth, chewing while moving closer to Zhao Zhiliu. “After all, Madam is someone who would even harm her own nephews and sons. Of course, I’m afraid.”
Zhao Zhiliu glared coldly at him.
The mole-faced man stopped pretending and spat out the sugarcane pulp right next to Zhao Zhiliu’s feet. Then, he grinned, showing his yellow teeth.
“Who told you that Madam has dirt on me? I’ve already told my family about your secret. They’re waiting for me to bring the money back from Ice Frost Country. I guarantee, once I get the money, I won’t appear again.”
“Hehe, but if I can’t make it back, my wife and kids will start sending ‘spam’ to the Yu Group’s public inbox.”
“I wonder how your little brother, now the head of the group, Second Master Yu, will deal with Madam?”
“Oh, and what do you think your son, Master Minchuan, will think if he finds out you were the one responsible for the accident that happened years ago?”
Zhao Zhiliu’s gaze grew colder, and she took several deep breaths before spitting out a harsh sentence. “Fine, I’ll give you another three million, but I need some time.”
“Three million is nothing to the Yu family! What do you need time for? I want it now!”
“You also know that the current head of the group is Yu Mo Yuan. Do you think I can still freely use money like I used to? Three million isn’t much, but it’s also not small. Aren’t you afraid that Yu Mo Yuan will check my accounts and trace it back to you?”
The mole-faced man froze, slightly intimidated.
He didn’t believe that the prestigious matriarch of the Yu family couldn’t come up with three million, but he did fear that Yu Mo Yuan might find him through that money.
Though he had been in Ice Frost Country for the past three years, he had heard of Yu Mo Yuan’s reputation.
It was said that he was cold and ruthless, domineering, decisive in business, and no one dared to provoke him privately either.
A few years ago, a duke from Ice Frost Country came to China to discuss a partnership with Yu Mo Yuan. It was rumored that the talks didn’t go well, and the duke’s legs were broken. He was then hung from a helicopter and flown back to Ice Frost Country, where he was thrown into the sea like trash.
Yet, Ice Frost Country didn’t dare cause trouble for Yu Mo Yuan and even sent him a mine to placate his anger.
Someone like him was not someone the mole-faced man dared to provoke.
Zhao Zhiliu saw that the mole-faced man believed her and finally relaxed her brows.
Zhao Zhiliu spoke: “Give me an account, then go back to Ice Frost Country. I will transfer the money to your account within three days.”
“Don’t try to trick me!”
Zhao Zhiliu leaned closer to the mole-faced man, suppressing her disgust as she placed her hand on his shoulder. In a soft voice, she said, “If the money isn’t received after three days, you can come find me again.”
The mole-faced man thought carefully for a moment. After all, how could Zhao Zhiliu risk her entire future for just three million?
“Alright, I’ll trust Madam this time,” the mole-faced man said, then immediately wrapped his arm around Zhao Zhiliu’s waist, greedily burying his head into her neck, inhaling deeply before saying, “Madam smells so good. Even though we’re both over forty, my wife is all fat, but Madam is still so elegant.”
Zhao Zhiliu didn’t push him away but coldly endured it.
Fortunately, the mole-faced man didn’t go too far, since his main goal was money.
After taking advantage of Zhao Zhiliu, he happily hummed a tune and left.
Zhao Zhiliu turned to watch the mole-faced man leave, then sneered.
“Fool. No one in this world can ever threaten me.”
Once the mole-faced man left, another man in a suit entered the room.
The man in the suit hurriedly asked, “Sister! How did it go?”
The man in the suit was Zhao Zhiliu’s younger brother, and Yu Minchuan’s maternal uncle, Zhao Zhi Hui.
When Zhao Zhi Hui entered, Zhao Zhiliu’s expression finally improved a little. “Mhm, the tracking device is planted in his collar.”
Upon hearing this, Zhao Zhi Hui quickly opened the tracking software on his phone. A red dot appeared on the screen, marking the mole-faced man’s exact location!
Zhao Zhi Hui smiled. “Good, then I’ll take care of the next part. I was worried he wouldn’t show up, but now that he has, we can solve this threat once and for all!”
Zhao Zhi Liu gritted her teeth. “Solving him doesn’t help. The Yu family’s power is still in Yu Mo Yuan’s hands. And Minchuan is useless. He can’t help at all!”
“Don’t worry. You and Yu Mo Yuan each have 10% of the shares. As long as Minchuan successfully gets that woman from the Tang family pregnant, your shares will surpass his. You’ll have the upper hand.”
“If she really ends up having twins, you’ll be the second-largest shareholder after Old Man Yu! Once Old Man Yu passes away, the Yu family will have to change their name to Zhao Corporation!”
Hearing Zhao Zhi Hui’s words, Zhao Zhiliu finally showed a smile. “Then it will all be worth the effort we’ve put in over the years.”
The brother and sister exchanged a look, their eyes full of greed.
Zhao Zhiliu spoke again: “But there’s still an unstable factor.”
“What?” Zhao Zhi Hui asked, confused.
Zhao Zhiliu said, “What if Yu Mo Yuan has another woman outside?”
Zhao Zhi Hui was stunned. After a long pause, he finally spoke: “Then… how about…?”
“What?”
“How about… we arrange for Lian Er to move into the Yu family? Let her try to seduce Yu Mo Yuan?”
Zhao Zhiliu’s eyes brightened in surprise. “Why didn’t I think of that?”
Zhao Lian Er, whom Zhao Zhi Hui mentioned, was his daughter and Zhao Zhiliu’s niece. Letting her stay at the Yu family to ‘catch up’ with her aunt seemed perfectly natural.
If Zhao Lian Er successfully seduced Yu Mo Yuan, wouldn’t the Yu family be entirely theirs? Then they wouldn’t need to go through all this trouble to fight for shares!
Yu Corporation.
Top floor, CEO office.
Yu Mo Yuan, in a well-tailored suit, was sitting at his desk, flipping through the financial reports on the table.
Facing the hundreds of millions and billions on the financial reports, Yu Mo Yuan seemed completely unfazed, as if the numbers were nothing more than a string of digits to him.
Opposite Yu Mo Yuan stood a man with long hair, about 1.85 meters tall, dressed in an exquisite suit. His long hair was neatly tied in a low ponytail at the back.
He had the aura of an artist, but in reality, he was Yu Mo Yuan’s subordinate, named Yuan Suo.
Well… Yuan Suo could be considered an artist, in a way.
He occasionally used knives to create art on the human body, how could that not be considered art?
Yuan Suo spoke, “Second Master, we found out that Zhao Zhiliu and Zhao Zhi Hui went to the west side of the city, but they’ve arranged for someone to keep watch at the intersection, so our people couldn’t get close.”
Yu Mo Yuan didn’t look up, “You don’t even know what they’re doing there?”
“Well, we didn’t find that out, but we did spot a disheveled middle-aged man coming out of there.”
A disheveled middle-aged man?
Yu Mo Yuan finally lifted his gaze. “Follow him.”
“Understood. Should we just follow him, or should we capture him directly?”
“Capture?” Yu Mo Yuan tapped the steel pen in his hand on the desk a few times, his tone turning serious. “This is Hua Country. We must be law-abiding citizens.”
Yuan Suo twitched the corner of his mouth. “You’re the boss. Whatever you say goes.”
The phrase “law-abiding citizen” sounded so funny coming from Yu Mo Yuan’s mouth.
But then again, Yu Mo Yuan was quite a peculiar person. He never did anything out of line within Hua Country.
As for overseas…
Yuan Suo shivered and quickly shook off the images flashing in his mind.
“By the way, Second Master, why were you late today?”
Yu Mo Yuan paused slightly, then smiled. “I was just giving a little more attention to the new kitten at home.”
Yu Mo Yuan smiled? And a kitten?
Wasn’t he the one who hated furry animals the most?
Yuan Suo’s eyes widened, and then the idea suddenly clicked in his mind.
This “kitten” couldn’t possibly be…
Yuan Suo leaned closer to Yu Mo Yuan, winking suggestively. “This kitten, could it be… a little female cat?”
Yu Mo Yuan didn’t answer but gave Yuan Suo a half-smiling, half-amused look. “Are you bored?”
Yuan Suo shivered and quickly adopted a pitiful expression. “I’m juggling being your assistant and managing the underground operations. How could I be bored? Oh Second Master, when will you hire an assistant and give me my freedom back?”
“Next time, for sure.”
“…”
Yuan Suo fell silent, feeling like he might just spew a mouthful of blood onto Yu Mo Yuan.
But he didn’t dare, all he could do was simmer with powerless frustration.
Seeing that Yuan Suo was about to cry, Yu Mo Yuan finally spoke. “Alright, stop whining. The assistant position has already been arranged by HR.”
Yuan Suo beamed. “Long live Yu Mo Yuan, long live Second Master, long live the boss!”
“Get lost.”
“Okay!”
