Chapter 203: Reunion
The sky was clear, the breeze gentle, and the bright sunlight brought life to the earth.
On the wide road, a group of figures appeared from afar, with the tall and mighty Radiant Knight riding at the forefront, his sharp gaze sweeping the surroundings.
Behind them, under the protection of a group of strong warriors, a luxurious white carriage slowly approached.
Michelle sat inside the carriage, pulling back the curtain to look at the outside world, letting out a slight sigh.
“The path of training was clearly meant for the saintess to experience the hardships of the common people in the empire, yet it is conducted in such a manner, which is not true to its name.”
“This is also for your safety; taking the path of training at this time of the demon king’s resurrection allows people to witness the grace of the chosen saintess, which can give them enough courage to resist the invasion of the demon race.”
Beside her, Selena accompanied her on the path of training; besides the two of them, Vernia was also present.
Every Radiant Knight protecting them had an SS-class strength, with several being SSS-class super-class warriors.
The church had mobilized nearly all its resources to protect the newly born chosen saintess, and with the strong warriors secretly protecting her from the empire, only a peak-class demon king could threaten them.
“Who goes there?”
The leading Radiant Knight’s gaze sharpened as a chilling aura approached from a distance.
At that moment, the sun was obscured by clouds, the surroundings dimmed, and a fierce wind swept through, filling the space with a dangerous atmosphere.
Step! Step! Step!
An old man slowly walked over, holding a wooden sword.
He was a very terrifying old man, constantly exuding a dangerous aura; the grass and trees around him were cut down by a sharp force, and even the standing ground was torn apart by invisible sword energy, with cracks spreading everywhere.
Everyone instantly became alert, and the carriage was forced to stop in place.
The Radiant Knight leaped down from his warhorse, and a large group of holy knights moved forward, forming a shield wall to block the old man.
A gap opened in the shield wall, and three SSS-class church warriors stepped out: one Radiant Knight, one holy knight, and one priest. The three top-tier warriors appeared simultaneously, yet none of them looked relaxed, their bodies tense.
“Don’t be agitated; I have no other intentions, old man.”
In front of the old man, a table made of earth appeared along with a few stools. He sat on one of the stools and took out a Go board, saying, “Everyone sit down, don’t just stare.”
“Are you trying to oppose the church?”
The three powerful warriors could not see through the old man and dared not act rashly, especially since the saintess was right behind them; if a battle broke out, the aftermath could harm her.
Seeing them unmoving, an invisible wave emanated from the old man, and except for the three SSS-class warriors, everyone else was struck down by this invisible force, collapsing to the ground. Only the SS-class Radiant Knight knelt on the ground, barely supporting himself.
“Make your move!” The three exchanged glances and immediately took action.
“Hmph!”
The old man snorted coldly, and enormous transparent swords fell from the sky, slicing through space like meteors, enveloped in sharp sword energy as they landed on the ground, forming a tall circular sword wall that surrounded the group.
Within the wall, endless sword energy rampaged, rendering the three warriors unable to move, trapped in an ocean of sword energy; any slight movement would result in being cut by the surrounding sharp sword energy.
“Are you the one who killed the demon king a year ago?”
Shock filled their eyes; it was rumored that the one who killed the demon king was a master swordsman, and with such terrifying sword energy, there was likely no one in the world who could match him.
The old man did not respond, sitting on the stool and fiddling with the Go board in front of him.
“Everyone sit!”
As soon as he finished speaking, the three powerful warriors found themselves unable to control their bodies, stepping forward to sit on the stools. This was a natural instinct; if they did not comply, their bodies would likely be torn apart by the surrounding sword energy.
The shock in their hearts was immense; even the peak state of the demon king might not be this formidable.
Although they did not know the old man’s intentions, they could only obediently comply for now.
The three exchanged glances, and one of them said, “Playing Go only requires two people.”
“It doesn’t matter; the other two can watch.”
The old man’s tone was quite firm, and they did not dare to provoke him.
“What is going on?”
Feeling the invisible wave approaching, Michelle pulled back the curtain and discovered that the surrounding guards had all collapsed.
“There’s a dangerous guy coming.” Vernia said, somewhat panicked.
“It’s fine; I’ll go take a look.”
Just as Michelle was about to go out, Selena stood in front of her to stop her, saying, “Michelle, it’s dangerous outside; stay in the carriage while I go check.”
“I want to go too; I can’t let you face danger alone.”
“No, you are the chosen saintess, the hope of everyone. If there is danger, you should teleport back immediately and not worry about us; remember your duty.”
Selena was very firm, and after speaking, she was the first to step down from the carriage, not giving Michelle a chance to object as she went outside.
She was cautious, alert to her surroundings, when suddenly she saw a figure approaching in the distance.
“It’s you!”
Upon closer inspection, she realized it was Leo. Looking at the collapsed church personnel around, Selena frowned, “Did you do all this?”
“They just fainted.” Leo approached.
There was indeed still a life force, and Selena relaxed her brow, then looked at Leo, “Are you here to find Michelle?”
Leo did not respond; his intentions were obvious. To see Michelle, he still had to get past Selena.
Unexpectedly, Selena stepped aside, allowing him to pass, “Go on in.”
Leo was slightly surprised; his first reaction was to suspect a conspiracy, but given their identities as church saintesses, they were above such schemes.
Seeing his confusion, Selena sighed lightly, “Some things are not Michelle’s intention; I hope you won’t blame her.”
Leo walked past her and entered the carriage.
“Sister Selena, what happened?”
A familiar voice reached his ears, and Leo saw the woman he had been longing for.
Their gazes met, their pupils slightly dilated, both staring at each other in a daze.
“Leo, Leo.”
A hint of panic flashed in Michelle’s eyes, but she quickly regained her composure, not expecting Leo to appear here.
Leo’s mind was filled with countless thoughts; although he had a thousand words to say, he could not utter a single one. He opened his mouth and awkwardly said, “Are you okay?”
After a moment of surprise, Michelle regained her calm and smiled slightly, “I’m fine, thank you for coming to see me; I’m very happy. Being able to see you before the demon king’s subjugation allows me to let go of some burdens.”
Seeing her again, Leo felt an impulse to hold the saintess tightly, but the current Michelle gave him a feeling he had never experienced before, forcing him to suppress the urge in his heart.
He noticed Vernia beside him, “What are you doing here?”
Saying this, Leo grabbed Vernia and threw her out.
“Bastard! This is blasphemy!”
Vernia’s furious voice came from outside.
Now, only Leo and Michelle remained in the carriage.
