Chapter 46
While Lin Xuan was still immersed in his cultivation, an unexpected visitor arrived at the Lin family.
An old man stood before Lin Yanran, his face lined with deep wrinkles and his eyes deep like the sea, as if he had experienced countless years and cared little for the world around him. Just his presence seemed to distort the very fabric of space!
Notably, the old man wore a crimson Dao robe embroidered with profound and ancient runes. When connected, these runes formed archaic characters.
“Shangqing!”
If a powerful figure from the Great Yan Dynasty were present, they would surely be terrified. The Shangqing Sect, known for its formidable strength, had none among its ranks who were not top-tier experts in the Xuantian Continent. Such beings could easily wreak havoc with a mere gesture, and the masses wouldn’t even qualify to see their true forms. Yet, here such a powerful figure stood in this small place!
“Shangqing Immortal Sect, Mu Qingtian, under the orders of the Sect Master, requests the Young Sect Master to return to the Shangqing Sect to unlock the Divine Pattern!”
The old man’s tone was neutral, devoid of emotion, as he quietly gazed at Lin Yanran. At this moment, the heavens and earth seemed to twist, and an undeniable momentum surged forth.
Lin Yanran looked at the visitor, her expression pale, biting her lip: “Has this day… finally arrived?”
Looking at the old man, she knew she might not be able to evade this call.
Shangqing Immortal Sect, Second Elder, Mu Qingtian!
“Cold Fengyue pays her respects to the Second Elder!” The cold figure of Fengyue appeared beside Lin Yanran, bowing respectfully to the old man, even she felt a chill, as the overwhelming aura pressed down, making it hard for her to breathe.
She knew the sect would request the young lady to return, but she didn’t expect their resolve to be so strong that they sent the Second Elder personally. He was not someone easy to deal with!
Could it be… that he had truly entered the final stage, losing all remnants of humanity?
Fengyue felt a bitter pang in her heart.
“Miss, you should return!” Cold Fengyue gently urged Lin Yanran, knowing that since the Shangqing Sect chose to send a powerful elder, Lin Yanran had no choice but to comply; otherwise, it would spell disaster for the Lin family!
Lin Yanran trembled slightly; how could she not know?
But… she was greedy. She truly wanted to continue being with her brother Lin Xuan. She was a selfish person…
“Is the Young Sect Master reluctant to leave this place?”
Mu Qingtian glanced around, his gaze indifferent, his palm tightening slightly. Everyone in Tai’an City felt a tremendous fear, as if their fate was suddenly targeted by a terrifying existence!
Seeing this, Cold Fengyue’s expression shifted under her veil. She stepped forward and said, “Second Elder, please wait. The young lady naturally wishes to return to the Shangqing Sect to assume her duties.”
“Isn’t that right, Miss?”
With that, Cold Fengyue looked at Lin Yanran, who now seemed calm, her expression indifferent. Taking a small step forward, she addressed the Second Elder, “Second Elder, we shouldn’t delay any further. Let us return to the Shangqing Immortal Sect immediately.”
“If the unlocking of the Divine Pattern is delayed, you will become the eternal sinner of the Shangqing Immortal Sect. Surely, you don’t wish to see the decline of the Shangqing Sect!”
Upon hearing Lin Yanran’s response, a stiff smile appeared on Mu Qingtian’s face, and the oppressive aura around him gradually dissipated. The feeling of dread in Tai’an City finally faded, though the people remained unaware that they had just brushed against the brink of death.
“Since the Young Sect Master has no more attachments, that is even better.”
“Now, Young Sect Master, please return to the sect with me.”
Mu Qingtian lightly waved his hand, and a terrifying crack appeared in the fabric of space, revealing an expanse filled with countless dimensions. Moments later, Mu Qingtian and Lin Yanran vanished from sight.
Cold Fengyue stood rigidly in place.
The last words Mu Qingtian spoke echoed in her mind after he left: “Elder Leng should know what the Young Sect Master represents for our Shangqing Immortal Sect. Before Elder Leng returns to the sect, I do not wish for any blemishes to appear in the Young Sect Master’s state of mind…”
…
“Master, Master, Master…”
Worry surfaced on Lin Yan’s little face as he repeatedly called out to the presence in his mind, but alas, he received no response, increasing his anxiety.
Just moments ago, he had felt a sudden pang of anxiety in his heart, as if faced with a grave crisis. He wanted to ask his master for guidance, but after calling out multiple times, he was met with silence.
“Haah!”
A phantom figure emerged, gazing solemnly into the distance.
Upon seeing this familiar figure, Lin Yan’s expression changed instantly, filled with joy, “Master, you’re finally alive!”
“….” The old man’s solemn demeanor turned grim, and he shot a disgruntled look at Lin Xuan. “Not alive? Is it possible that your master is dead?”
“You little brat, what kind of feng shui treasure land is your Lin family that even a calamity figure from the Shangqing Immortal Sect would show up?”
Lin Yan scratched the back of his head in confusion, asking, “Master, what is this Shangqing Immortal Sect? What do you mean by calamity figure?”
The old man rolled his eyes, “These are things you cannot grasp for now. Knowing too much will only lead to an early demise!”
“You will only qualify to understand these matters once you leave the Great Yan Dynasty.”
“Ha, I don’t care!” Lin Yan haughtily turned his head away from the old man, but at that moment, his determination to grow stronger became even firmer!
The old man looked at Lin Yan and let out a resigned sigh.
What puzzled him further was why the calamity figure from the Shangqing Sect would appear in the Lin family, drawing the attention of a top-tier expert in person?
If he hadn’t reacted quickly, he might have exposed himself. Thinking of this, the old man couldn’t help but feel a shiver of fear. The people from the Shangqing Immortal Sect had completely lost their sanity. If he were to fall into their hands, he would undoubtedly be dissected for research.
Especially…
Remembering the scenes from millions of years ago sent a chill down his spine.
This place was indeed too strange. The aura of Dao Fire had appeared twice, and there was a young man whose abilities were beyond his understanding. His newly acquired disciple also seemed a bit unusual… His luck was extraordinarily good, effortlessly stumbling upon treasures, and even turning a corner could yield opportunities.
But no matter how he deduced, he could not foresee the Lin family’s future. Whenever he attempted to delve deeper, he would sense a tremendous terror, as if a supreme being was watching him from the rivers of time.
“Could it be that there is some supreme existence plotting within the Lin family?”
The old man pondered inwardly.
