Chapter 8: He Liked Your Post
Xia Nanxing struck first, positioning herself on the moral high ground as she pointed an accusatory finger. “That Xia Yingying is actually your illegitimate daughter! Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
“Why would I tell you when I never planned to bring her back to the Xia family?” Xia Zhengyang replied with shameless confidence.
He was notorious for his playboy ways, and his illegitimate children were too numerous to count. He couldn’t possibly report every single one to his daughter. Some of them even showed up at his doorstep before he even knew they existed.
“Dad, how could you! When she stole my man, I was angry, but I wasn’t heartbroken. But knowing she might take you away from me—that devastated me. When I found out she was your daughter, my heart skipped a beat…”
Her words instantly made Xia Zhengyang feel guilty and defensive.
So, his daughter hadn’t been hospitalized because of Lu Huaijin—it was because of him?
Was his place in her heart even higher than Lu Huaijin’s?
Was that even possible?
After playing the victim, Xia Nanxing then made a domineering declaration. “I can let her have Lu Huaijin, but not you, Dad. I won’t allow her to take you away from me!”
Xia Zhengyang immediately reassured her. “Don’t worry about that. Your dad will always love you the most!”
Among his children, only the four raised in the Xia household had his genuine care—he had no emotional attachment to those born outside.
When Xia Nanxing was born, he hadn’t yet taken over the family conglomerate. Back then, his abilities were mediocre, and his father hadn’t entrusted him with major responsibilities. Instead, he had arranged a marriage with an exceptionally capable woman, hoping she would manage the core business of the group.
At that time, he had plenty of leisure to indulge in his escapades—and plenty of time to dote on his children.
Xia Nanxing was the only one he had personally watched grow up. The children from his later marriages never received the same attention.
Once he became engrossed in his career, who had time to sit at home watching babies blow bubbles?
Knowing that his reckless behavior had caused his daughter so much distress that her heart condition flared up, how could Xia Zhengyang stay angry?
In a gentle tone, he asked, “Are you feeling better now?”
“Much better. Knowing you love me the most instantly eased my pain.” Seizing the moment, Xia Nanxing added, “And I’ve realized something—family is far more important than romance. I won’t like Lu Huaijin anymore. I don’t want Dad to worry about me anymore.”
Even if he knew she might change her mind the moment she saw Lu Huaijin again, Xia Zhengyang couldn’t help but be pleased by her words.
Softening his voice, he said, “Get some rest. I’ll come see you tomorrow morning.”
“No need, Dad, I’m really fine. It’s too tiring for you to travel back and forth. Get some rest yourself, and don’t work too late. Love you~” Xia Nanxing’s tone was the picture of obedience.
Her billion-dollar bonus wouldn’t be available for at least another year, but she had already promised Xia Wenbo a sports car. If she didn’t keep Xia Zhengyang happy, how could she deliver?
As soon as she hung up, Xia Nanxing turned to Xia Wenbo with a smirk. “Don’t worry, little bro. Your Bugatti? Big sis will make sure you get it.”
“You’re the best, sis. Only you can sweet-talk Dad like that.” Xia Wenbo gave her a thumbs-up.
But some tactics were only for her to use—he could never pull them off.
If he ever called Xia Zhengyang to angrily demand answers, his father wouldn’t even let him finish before hanging up—and then promptly subjecting him to family law punishment.
After dealing with her father, Xia Nanxing glanced at the row of unread notifications in her messages list and decided not to reply to each one individually. Instead, she attached a selfie and posted it on her social media feed.
*”Since love remains unrequited, it’s impolite to keep loving. It ends here. From now on, no one is allowed to mention him or anything related to him in front of me!”*
In the past, her love had been widely known, and now that she had fallen out of love, she needed everyone to know it too.
After posting, Xia Nanxing immediately called her best friend, Ye Shuya, to personally reassure her.
“I couldn’t reach you earlier—I was so worried! I’m already at the airport, about to fly back!”
Ye Shuya despised Lu Huaijin the most, so when Xia Nanxing didn’t insist on dragging her to the birthday party, Ye Shuya took her boyfriend on an overseas vacation instead. Who knew such a huge incident would happen in her absence?
The loud voice nearly deafened Xia Nanxing, so she quickly switched to speakerphone and held the phone away. “Didn’t my brother reply to you earlier? I’m fine, just fainted for a tiny moment—no big deal.”
“No big deal? You literally passed out from anger!” Ye Shuya grew more furious as she spoke. “Just wait, when I get back, we’ll deal with that Xia Yingying together—”
Xia Nanxing shushed her. “Stop. No more talk of the past. Didn’t you see my post? From now on, don’t mention him—or that woman—in front of me.”
“I saw it. But… are you really ending it for good?” Ye Shuya sounded skeptical.
“I said it’s over, I don’t love him anymore—why doesn’t anyone believe me?” As she spoke, Xia Nanxing checked her social media feed to see who had liked her post.
Not a single one.
“Why hasn’t anyone liked it?”
It had been two whole minutes since she posted. Surely someone must have seen it by now?
Normally, the moment she posted something, a flood of *rainbow farts* would follow. Yet this post was met with such cold indifference. The Xia family hadn’t even gone bankrupt yet—why was everyone ignoring her?
The first step in announcing to the world that she had moved on had already suffered a Waterloo moment on social media.
She couldn’t accept this outcome!
Xia Nanxing scolded Ye Shuya over the phone. “Ye Shuya! You saw it and didn’t even like it? Go like it right now! After liking it, screenshot it and make a separate post wishing me a happy single life!”
In the past, she had always presented herself as Lu Huaijin’s girlfriend. Now, she had to reestablish her single status.
Then, she turned to Xia Wenbo and Lu Jiashu. “And you two—why didn’t you like it when you saw it? Xia Wenbo, follow the same steps as Ye Shuya: like, screenshot, and post wishing me a happy single life.”
Xia Wenbo and Lu Jiashu didn’t dare argue, but Ye Shuya boldly spoke up. “Xingxing, are you sure you won’t use the list of likes as a hit list?”
Who knew if Xia Nanxing was using this post to fish out those who didn’t support her love life, silently adding them to her grudge list?
“What are you talking about? Of course not!” Xia Nanxing nearly shrieked. “Do I seem like that kind of person?”
She kind of did, but Ye Shuya didn’t dare say it. Instead, she exaggeratedly replied, “Of course not!”
For years, Xia Nanxing’s *love brain* image had been deeply ingrained. At first, people had tried to talk sense into her, but now, no one around her dared to speak ill of Lu Huaijin anymore.
As a best friend, Ye Shuya was utterly fed up with Lu Huaijin in her heart, but she still had to flash him a perfect eight-tooth smile on the surface. When Xia Nanxing was preparing surprises for Lu Huaijin, she even had to dutifully play the role of strategist, praising the two as a match made in heaven against her conscience.
What match? In her eyes, Xia Nanxing was leagues above Lu Huaijin without even needing to turn a corner.
Lu Huaijin was just a total jerk, a pretentious ass…
Now that Xia Nanxing was finally showing signs of coming to her senses, even though Ye Shuya felt a bit apprehensive, she was ready to take the risk herself.
But the moment she clicked into the friend circle and before she could act, her expression froze.
“Uh, Xingxing, Lu Huaijin just liked your friend circle post.”
Xia Nanxing refreshed the page and let out an angry laugh, “Forgot about that. I’m blocking and deleting him right now.”
