Chapter 233
“You go find Senior Gao, he’s a talisman cultivator.”
Ye Qiao was the only one left behind to fight the demonic beasts to vent her energy.
The ancestor of Changming Sect briefly assessed her for a few seconds, then snapped his fingers. Since Nascent Soul stage beasts weren’t enough, he decided to see if a God Transformation stage beast would suffice.
In the blink of an eye, another demonic beast appeared at her feet. This beast was different from the previous Nascent Soul stage beasts.
It could speak.
And the first thing it said was—
“Another one of you lowly humans.”
“It’s a demon king.” Only God Transformation stage beasts could speak human language, making them equivalent to demon kings in the beast world. Ye Qiao took a step on the breeze, flipping mid-air and striking at the demon king level beast. Her long sword clashed with a crisp sound, unable to cut through, not even a bit.
Using a demon king level beast for practice showed how generous the seniors were.
The demon king tried to crush her underfoot, creating a frenzied vortex where she stood. She anticipated this, dodging in a few steps as the third move of the Breeze Technique exploded unexpectedly.
She activated her sword technique at least five times, and after five consecutive uses of the Breeze Technique, she finally created a wound on the beast.
“The demon king’s pressure seems to have no effect on her.”
Without the pressure, the threat it posed was relatively reduced, allowing Ye Qiao to fight this giant beast without much issue.
The ancestor of Changming Sect remarked, “Of course, she is the master of the Phoenix.” He had considered this factor before daring to release a God Transformation stage beast.
The battle between the person and the beast was intense, with waves of energy forming a faint orange glow around the area. A large crater appeared nearby, and Ye Qiao’s figure disappeared from sight. The demon king lifted its hoof, glaring fiercely around, trying to locate Ye Qiao.
Ye Qiao was hiding in a tree, adjusting her spiritual energy. Despite being a God Transformation stage beast, two whole stages above her, it was still stronger than her, even without the oppressive aura.
Mu Chongxi shouted from the side, “Hurry up and fight, Ye Qiao! I’ll reward you with spirit stones when you’re done.”
They had already spent too much time there.
Ming Xuan added, “If you win, I’ll steal my dad’s stash and give it to you tomorrow.”
They were not shy about making empty promises to encourage her. Ye Qiao knew they were probably just talking nonsense, but her body responded very realistically, with her spiritual roots frantically absorbing the surrounding spiritual energy. As soon as she exhausted her energy, it was replenished.
She flexed her wrist, took a deep breath, and cursed inwardly.
Just when her spiritual energy had calmed down, it became agitated again.
She had to fight the demon king once more.
Since there wasn’t enough spiritual energy around, Ye Qiao distractedly threw out four talismans to set up a spirit-gathering formation. No matter how intelligent the demon king was, it couldn’t understand the formation or its purpose.
The demon king was left confused, always just a little short of defeating Ye Qiao. With a mocking, somewhat shrill voice, it roared, “Lowly human!”
“What are you, a talentless, inferior human? Die!” The demon king’s hostility towards humans was strong.
It even introduced a sense of class discrimination.
Ye Qiao looked at it impassively.
This time, she wielded the sword “Bu Jianjun.”
She rarely used “Bu Jianjun” against humans because it was too lethal, preferring the more gentle “Flying Immortal Sword” and her other spirit swords.
The long sword moved unpredictably, deftly evading attacks. The demon king realized it couldn’t even touch this “inferior” human.
It was as if she could predict its every move.
The demon king’s tongue was covered with poison and barbs, capable of causing a body to explode upon contact.
“Bu Jianjun” groaned in disgust, but in this trial ground, it couldn’t transform, no matter how unpleasant it felt.
In repeated clashes, as the demon king continued to rant, Ye Qiao ignored its pressure, swiftly moved behind it, and transformed into several sword shadows. After several exchanges, there was a loud “boom” as she dodged its tail swipe, countered with a kick, and sent the beast crashing into the trees.
Ye Qiao landed on a stone pillar, surveying the wreckage of the trial ground.
As the demon king tried to get up, she dropped down and delivered a punch to its abdomen, piercing through it. As it tried to swallow her with a swipe of its tongue, her defensive talisman activated a shield, nearly breaking its teeth.
The demon beast healed quickly; as long as it wasn’t dead, its ridiculous healing ability could fully restore it in a minute.
Simply breaking its abdomen wasn’t enough.
The sticky feeling of the demon king’s body made Ye Qiao’s face grow colder, her inner frustration mounting.
“Lowly human, ha ha ha, die—” Its sinister laugh was cut short.
Gathering spiritual energy in her palm, she drove it through the demon king’s abdomen, the overwhelming energy culminating in a heartrending scream.
She tore it apart.
The ancestor of Changming Sect, startled from his reverie, jumped up in fright, shouting, “Xiao Qiao!?”
