Chapter 234
All that remained was a blood-soaked ground. The once-mighty demon king had been torn in half, and the culprit, avoiding the blood, murmured coldly, “I hate it when people show off in front of me.”
Villains perish due to their long-windedness, and bosses fall due to their arrogance.
Clearly, it had committed the crime of showing off.
More importantly, someone dared to be more pretentious than Ye Qinghan, which was absolutely unforgivable.
Ye Qinghan’s arrogance was one thing—Ye Qiao couldn’t stand him but still believed that one day she would beat him up.
Afterwards, no matter how many demon kings the ancestor of Changming Sect sent out, they were all inevitably torn apart by her.
He couldn’t help but gasp. Although he felt a bit embarrassed by his reaction, who in their right mind would tear demon kings apart with their bare hands?
Ignoring the oppressive aura, her heavenly spiritual roots combined with the spirit-gathering formations were simply monstrous.
Mu Chongxi clicked his tongue, “What do you think would happen if I went up against Ye Qiao in this state?”
Zhou Xingyun, observing Ye Qiao’s fight, began to egg him on, “Why don’t you give it a try?”
Mu Chongxi clicked his tongue twice, “No way, no way!” He hated those sword techniques that required memorization. He had only learned simple, powerful ones, unlike Ye Qiao’s techniques that could morph dozens of times in a flash.
“Why ask Mu Chongxi to try? Senior Brother, why don’t you go?” Xue Yu blinked curiously. He thought that only Senior Brother and Mu Chongxi dared to approach Little Sister in this state.
The former was fearless, the latter was resilient.
Zhou Xingyun paused, then smiled at his junior brother, “Because if he dies, I won’t have to go.”
Ming Xuan chimed in, “That’s a good idea. I support you.”
Mu Chongxi sighed, “Thanks, guys.”
“You four,” the ancestor and other elders said helplessly, “stop chatting.”
It was rare to see people who could chat and stay alert simultaneously. Xue Yu even maintained steady movements with his hands, showing no signs of the furnace exploding, which indicated his high level of proficiency.
These geniuses were indeed bona fide talents.
But why were all these current disciples so rebellious?
The Changming Sect elder mentoring Ming Xuan also marveled, “Isn’t this disciple’s memory quite good?”
Every move Ye Qiao made was exploratory. She memorized the demon king’s patterns, and her predictive skills helped her avoid risks during battles. Once the testing phase was over, it was usually the demon king’s end.
Ming Xuan proudly said, “My little sister has an eidetic memory.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Ye Qiao performed a mid-air spin and kicked a demon king flying. The impact was so tremendous that it took three trees to stop it. Seeing yet another demon king fall victim, the ancestor of the Changming Sect paused for a long while before asking, “Do you need more?” He actually still had a few more.
Whether it was a demon king or not wasn’t important; what mattered was that he wanted to see where this kid’s limits were.
Ye Qiao, looking at the bloodstains from the beasts on her clothes, thought about her spiritual root that absorbed spiritual energy and said, “Yes.”
She preferred to use it all up at once rather than having it threaten to burst her every day.
For the next month of trials, Ye Qiao engaged in a series of battles of wits and strength with the demon kings. The seniors of the Changming Sect went from being anxious at the beginning to almost being unable to sit still as they watched Ye Qiao handle everything with ease.
Ye Qiao had torn apart countless beasts. The colors of her clothes were now indistinguishable, and she floated out of the training ground like a wandering ghost, her steps unsteady.
She thought she had it bad.
But once outside, she realized that the others weren’t much better off. Before entering the training ground, everyone looked presentable; afterward, they all looked like a gang of beggars.
Ye Qinghan and Qin Huai’s clothes were tattered. Just as Ye Qiao was about to mock them, she looked down at her own blood-soaked clothes, which looked as if she’d been slaughtering pigs for fifty years, and fell silent.
Forget it. Why hurt each other?
Once everyone gathered, the personal disciples quickly opened their mustard seed bags to change clothes, only to find that their jade slips were almost shattered.
Not just hers; everyone else’s jade slips were the same.
Zhou Xingyun shook his jade slip, “The elders sent these. It seems something’s up.”
But now, no matter how they tried to contact them, they couldn’t get through.
At his words, Simiao Yan realized, “Where are the elders who brought us here?”
Logically, even if the elders couldn’t enter the inheritance grounds, they should be waiting outside. Yet, there was no sign of them.
“Something must have happened,” Qin Huai said casually, wiping his jade slip, “We should return to the sect.” They had completed most of their training and obtained all the inheritances.
“It seems something has happened,” Zhu You frowned.
“You’re leaving after just a month?” Hearing the personal disciples talking among themselves, the elder from Chengfeng Sect raised an eyebrow meaningfully, “From our perspective, it doesn’t matter if you kids go or stay.”
“After all, you’re still young.”
They were all just saplings yet to mature.
Even the oldest among the personal disciples was only twenty, still considered children in the cultivation world.
Leaving might be pointless; staying a bit longer and continuing to receive inheritances, though tiring, might allow them to break through a small realm.
“Something happened outside?” Given his words, something must have happened.
None of the ancestors refuted this, and they seemed to be in the know. Yet, they had kept silent and delayed for over a month?
“Are you kidding?” Chu Xingzhi retorted bluntly, “There’s no way we could ignore the outside world.” After all, the Five Sects were their home.
This brat was too brash; the Chengfeng Sect ancestor’s face darkened.
Was everyone from Wenjian Sect like this? Ye Qinghan was the same, lacking any subtlety.
Zhu You quickly covered Chu Xingzhi’s mouth and smiled, “Apologies, Grandmaster. His brain has been broken for a long time.”
Fortunately, the ancestor didn’t want to argue. With the Wenjian Sect ancestor present, Chu Xingzhi avoided a beating.
They were definitely going to leave.
The ancestors didn’t stop them, pointing them in the direction to leave. Before they left, they even gifted each of them a useful magical artifact.
Since the elders weren’t there to evenly distribute the spirit stones needed to launch the flying boat, the personal disciples had to fend for themselves. The others managed to scrape together enough spirit stones.
When it was Ye Qiao’s turn, she reached into her mustard seed bag, “I have about a dozen top-grade spirit stones. Do you need them?”
“You keep them,” Song Hansheng said, twitching at the corners of his mouth. “How could we possibly ask for such a small amount?”
Ming Xuan chimed in, “Given Song Hansheng’s earnest plea, little sister, you should keep them.”
Ye Qiao replied, “Since you sincerely asked, I’ll generously keep them.”
Song Hansheng: “…”
The young man looked down coldly and walked off with his spirit stones. He really couldn’t get along with the Changming Sect people.
After gathering enough spirit stones to launch the flying boat, it would take at least ten days to reach the sect. All of them ended up lying on the ground, exhausted.
Everyone slept on the flying boat, looking like pancakes, their various sect uniforms interwoven in a colorful mess, collapsed on the floor, their former image forgotten.
It was clear that each had been beaten by their ancestors and seniors.
The results, of course, were undeniable. They had already learned all they could from their sects, but the seniors’ teachings included new techniques and swordsmanship, as well as inheritances, which were immensely beneficial. The time on the flying boat would allow them to slowly digest and organize what they had learned.
When the flying boat landed in the Five Sects’ territory, the once bustling streets seemed a bit desolate. The sects were spread far apart, and seeing this strange sight, they instinctively huddled together.
Something was definitely wrong.
