Chapter 115 Dawn’s Demi-Humans (2/2)
Very soon, Nana led Shen Cheng and Xinxin to a small two-story building that appeared tiny within the Bio-Scientific Institute.
As soon as they entered, a man in a white lab coat approached them. He first nodded at Nana and then turned to Shen Cheng, asking, “May I know who you are?”
After all, Nana was the only Tiger Demi-Human in the Bio-Scientific Institute, so it was likely that no one there didn’t know her.
Shen Cheng smiled and extended his right hand, saying, “E-rank Specialized Agent, Shen Cheng.”
Upon hearing this, the man in the white lab coat’s eyes lit up. He quickly stepped forward, shaking Shen Cheng’s hand with both of his, exclaiming, “So you are the Specialized Agent Shen Cheng, who single-handedly took in the Tiger Demi-Humans and participated in the Dawn operation! It’s an honor to meet you!”
“It’s not as exaggerated as you say, no need to flatter me.” Shen Cheng waved his hand modestly and continued, “I came here mainly to see those Demi-Humans brought back after the Dawn operation.”
The man in the white lab coat nodded in understanding without further words, “Alright, follow me.”
As they ascended to the second floor, Shen Cheng suddenly asked, “I heard the recovery process for those Demi-Humans has been extremely difficult?”
“Yes,” the man sighed. “The brainwashing by the Dawn Research Institute lasted too long, and its effects were severe. We’re still teaching them how to use chopsticks.”
“Even the advanced technology couldn’t help?” Shen Cheng frowned slightly. In his impression, Demi-Human technology was almost miraculous.
“If we had rescued them earlier, we could have used the abilities of the Owl Demi-Humans to erase their memories from the time they spent with Dawn. But now…” The man’s tone was filled with helplessness as he stopped in front of a room, saying, “We’re here.”
Shen Cheng looked up and saw that the room had two doors, with two windows between them, resembling a school classroom.
He knocked on the door, and then they entered, noticing that the layout inside was identical to a classroom. In front was a teacher’s desk, and nearly the entire wall was taken up by a large green chalkboard, on which a few simple triangles were drawn in chalk. A woman in a white lab coat stood on the podium.
Below the podium, several desks were scattered around, with three to five Demi-Humans sitting at each, fiddling with something.
Among these Demi-Humans, the majority were cat Demi-Humans, along with a few dog Demi-Humans. One particularly noticeable figure was a small Demi-Human with black-brown hair and tiny, outwardly curled ears — could she be… a mouse Demi-Human?
Perhaps because of her small stature, Shen Cheng hadn’t noticed her when he first discovered the Demi-Humans during the Dawn operation.
“There are a total of seventy-five Demi-Humans. Take a look for yourself.” The man sighed wearily and called out to the woman at the podium before turning to leave.
After the man left, the woman on the podium approached Shen Cheng, nodding as she said, “Hello, you must be Agent Shen Cheng, right? Nice to meet you, I’m Gu Wen.”
“Hello.” Shen Cheng nodded in greeting and then turned to look at the Demi-Humans sitting at the desks, fiddling with something, feeling puzzled. “Are you… teaching a class?”
Xinxin also peeked out from behind Shen Cheng, seemingly curious about what the Demi-Humans were doing.
“This is to help them regain their autonomy. Dawn Research Institute’s brainwashing had too much of an impact on them,” Gu Wen massaged her temples with a bitter smile. “You can go and take a look.”
Shen Cheng nodded and casually approached one of the desks. Upon seeing what the Demi-Humans were working on, his brows furrowed slightly.
What they were fiddling with… seemed to be a tangram puzzle?
A tangram puzzle? Even Cheese could solve that, right?
“Shen Cheng…” At that moment, Nana’s serious voice came from the side. Shen Cheng looked up, seeing Nana staring intently at the tangram puzzle on the desk. “What’s wrong?”
“This is… hard!”
Shen Cheng: “…”
