Chapter 135: You Two Seem Like You’re Running a Couple’s Shop (1/2)
After finishing things upstairs, Shen Cheng and Liu Su went downstairs to start preparing for the store’s opening.
Shen Cheng was responsible for cleaning the tables and floor, while Liu Su let the cats out to greet the customers. As soon as the cats appeared in the Cat Café, the previously quiet café immediately became lively.
Shortly after, Shao Silin arrived at the Cat Café with a bag in hand. Upon seeing the scene inside, she paused for a moment, then smiled and said, “You two seem like you’re running a couple’s shop.”
“Uhm…” Liu Su, who was wiping the counter, froze at those words, her cheeks visibly turning red.
Shen Cheng didn’t notice Liu Su’s reaction. Instead, he stroked his chin, thought for a moment, and then nodded seriously, saying, “It does kind of feel that way…”
“Clang!”
As soon as he finished speaking, there was a sudden noise from the front desk. Shen Cheng was startled for a moment, then turned to Liu Su and asked, “Liu Su, what happened?”
“Nothing… nothing!” Liu Su, with her back to Shen Cheng, sounded flustered. “I’ll… I’ll go clean the kitchen first!”
Without waiting for a response, Liu Su hurried into the kitchen, leaving behind a smiling Shao Silin and a still somewhat dazed Shen Cheng.
“Boss Shen,” Shao Silin’s voice broke the silence. Shen Cheng turned to see him holding up the bag he had brought. “Can I go change into my uniform?”
There seemed to be a hint of anticipation in his tone…
A chill ran down Shen Cheng’s spine. He regretted ever letting Shao Silin wear that thing in the first place.
Pointing to the inner room on the first floor, Shen Cheng sighed and covered his face as he said, “Go ahead and change.”
“Got it!”
Watching Shao Silin eagerly rush into the inner room, Shen Cheng rubbed his temples. He was just about to step into the kitchen to help Liu Su when the door of the Cat Café was pushed open. Wen Yuanyuan, looking travel-worn, walked in. Upon seeing Shen Cheng, a smile immediately blossomed on her face. “Shen Cheng, good morning!”
Seeing Wen Yuanyuan, a smile also appeared on Shen Cheng’s face. “Yuanyuan, long time no see. How come you’re here so early today?”
“Because I heard you were back… also, thank you for what happened that night…” Recalling the scene outside the hospital, a blush spread across Wen Yuanyuan’s cheeks, and her demeanor became shy.
In truth, after hearing that Shen Cheng had returned last night, Wen Yuanyuan had tossed and turned all night, unable to sleep, her mind consumed with thoughts of going to work the next day.
She wanted to see Shen Cheng as soon as possible…
The moment she saw Shen Cheng, the emptiness she had been feeling in her heart for so long was instantly filled. An overwhelming sense of satisfaction surged through her, and she could barely resist the urge to run up and hug him.
For so many years, with her mother seriously ill, Wen Yuanyuan had struggled alone with no one to rely on. It wasn’t until she met Shen Cheng that she felt she had finally found a safe harbor, a place she could call her own.
If it weren’t for the burden of her mother’s medical bills, Wen Yuanyuan truly wished she could quit all her side jobs and focus entirely on working at the Light Spot Cat Café, carefree and happy, staying by Shen Cheng’s side.
Of course, Wen Yuanyuan had never considered crossing the line in her relationship with Shen Cheng. In her eyes, Shen Cheng already had Huihui by his side. Huihui had been with him the longest and was the one who could help him the most. As for herself, she couldn’t do anything, burdened with her mother’s illness, and being with someone would only make her a liability…
Shaking her head to clear away her wandering thoughts, Wen Yuanyuan greeted Shen Cheng, then headed into the kitchen to help Liu Su.
