Chapter 143: Searching for the Raven in Lingshi City (1/2)
As the first faint rays of morning light streamed into the bedroom, Shen Cheng slowly opened his eyes. After a moment of lingering in the warmth of the blankets, he finally got up from the bed.
He lifted the blanket and saw Sugar and Cheese curled up on either side of him, making Shen Cheng smile faintly.
Last night, Sugar didn’t sleep with Little Qi. Instead, she left Little Qi in Milk Tea’s care, then snuck into Shen Cheng’s bed during the night.
Now, both Yanyan and Little Qi were being looked after by Milk Tea. Light Spot Cat Café had its resident little girl caretaker, no doubt about it.
Milk Tea loved taking care of children, and leaving Yanyan and Little Qi in her hands gave Shen Cheng peace of mind.
Gently stroking Cheese’s grey-blue hair, Shen Cheng whispered, “Sorry, Cheese, I can’t wake you up today.”
“Mm nya~” Cheese’s cat ears twitched with Shen Cheng’s touch. Lost in some sweet dream, she murmured in her sleep, smiling softly.
Shen Cheng carefully got out of bed and changed into formal attire before pushing open the bedroom door.
The aroma of food from the kitchen filled Shen Cheng’s nose, making him smile knowingly. He walked to the kitchen door and, sure enough, Liu Su was inside, wearing an apron and preparing breakfast for everyone.
Hearing movement, Liu Su turned her head and froze for a moment when she saw Shen Cheng’s formal clothes. “Going out again?”
“Yeah, I have some errands to run.” Shen Cheng didn’t mention Ye Xi to Liu Su and nodded casually, then headed to the bathroom to freshen up.
Seeing that Shen Cheng was hiding something from her, Liu Su smiled and shook her head, choosing not to ask. She turned back to finish the last part of breakfast, then brought Shen Cheng’s portion to the table. After some thought, she added a fried egg to it.
After Shen Cheng finished freshening up, he spotted the breakfast on the table and couldn’t help but chuckle softly. He quickly ate, left a note for the girls, and pushed the door to leave.
“…Senior?” At that moment, Lin Yuhui’s voice called from behind. Shen Cheng froze slightly and turned around, seeing Lin Yuhui in her pajamas, rubbing her sleepy eyes as she groggily looked at him. “Are you going out?”
It was Monday, and Lin Yuhui had to go to class, so she woke up relatively early.
“Yes.” Shen Cheng nodded and smiled. “Just going to get some supplies. I’ll be back soon.”
“…”
Hearing this, Lin Yuhui remained silent for a moment before lowering her head and walking over to Shen Cheng. She reached out to straighten his collar and softly said, “Come back early… and be careful.”
“I will be careful.” Shen Cheng noticed that Lin Yuhui had realized he was lying, but she didn’t call him out on it, nor did she ask any further questions. His heart warmed at this.
After bidding Lin Yuhui farewell, Shen Cheng walked downstairs and pushed open the door of the Light Spot Cat Café.
A cold wind blew against Shen Cheng’s neck, but with his physique, such cold didn’t affect him in the slightest.
Braving the cold wind, Shen Cheng stepped outside the Light Spot Cat Café, feeling the chilly breeze and hearing the howling wind in his ears. He let out a long sigh.
The wind was really strong today…
Thinking of the forest in the illusion and the distant sound of a ship’s engine, Shen Cheng furrowed his brows slightly.
Lingshi City didn’t have a port, so Ye Xi’s base likely wasn’t in Lingshi City.
