Chapter 15: Sometimes It Felt Like Being an Old Father… (1/2)
Shen Cheng remembered, saying, “Oh! Found it!” He took out two bags from the cabinet and turned around, heading into the bedroom where the two cats were.
At this moment, Cheese had already returned and was sitting at the head of the bed chatting with Sugar.
“Master nya!” Seeing Shen Cheng enter, Cheese went up to him first.
Laughing, Shen Cheng ruffled Cheese’s hair, moved forward to place the sanitary pad at the head of the bed, tore open the warm patch in his hand, and said to Sugar, “Lift your clothes.”
“Um nya…” Sugar responded, groggily sitting up from the bed, her cat ears drooping listlessly.
With her hand at the hem, she lifted both her inner and outer clothes at once, revealing a small, spotless, snow-white belly free of any excess flesh.
Shen Cheng held his hand to his forehead, almost sticking the warm patch to his own face.
If he had directly applied it like that, they could have roasted cat belly for breakfast!
Sensing that something was off with Sugar, Shen Cheng moved forward to feel her forehead again, finding that the temperature seemed to have risen a bit, but it was still within a controllable range.
He applied the warm patch to Sugar over her inner clothing and instructed her on how to use the sanitary pad. Shen Cheng then hurried to the kitchen to cook soup.
While indeed, there were some common medicines for colds and fevers in the house, Shen Cheng knew that all medicine has three parts of poison. For a unique creature like a catgirl, somewhere between human and cat, he didn’t dare to randomly give her medicine.
If something went wrong from taking the medicine, should they find a doctor for a human or a vet for an animal?
He thought, “Let’s try drinking some soup and resting first. If that doesn’t work, then we can consider medicine.” With this in mind, Shen Cheng turned on the gas stove.
In the past, whenever the landlady had her relatives over, Shen Cheng would usually prepare a pot of ginger brown sugar water in the kitchen, which was always quite effective. This time was no different.
Not even two minutes after the ingredients were in the pot, Cheese came over quietly with her ears drooping. Shen Cheng glanced at her and asked, “Cheese, is there anything?”
“Master nya…” Cheese moved to his left side, the usual lively and cheerful tone in her voice now sounded somewhat subdued, “Will closing the store today affect the future of the Cat café, nya?”
“Heh…” Seeing that the silly cat seemed to be starting to worry about the Cat café’s business, Shen Cheng raised his hand and ruffled Cheese’s little head, feeling a comforting sense of relief like a proud old father.
“Why do you ask?”
“Because when the customers found out the Cat café was closed today, I saw their backs as they left; they seemed so lonely, nya…”
Just like that scene where Cheese saw Master leaving her that one night…
“No worries.” Shen Cheng gently tapped Cheese’s forehead and smiled softly: “As long as you all are here, the Cat café will keep running and running!”
“Master nya…”
“Alright, go get some cake from the downstairs kitchen, eat it, and put the rest in the fridge. We won’t sell them today anyway, and they won’t be fresh tomorrow. Be sure to bring a piece for Sugar.”
Remembering that he had set the timer last night to bake the cake, Shen Cheng slapped his forehead with a bitter smile.
To ease some of the morning load, Shen Cheng had thought of pre-setting the cake to bake in the oven the previous night, but on the first day of trying it, all this happened…
Well, it doesn’t affect much, really; his Cat Girl’s health was most important.
