Chapter 50: The Fox and the Mink (2/2)
As the saying goes, “Food is the people’s paramount concern.” The canteen at the Bio-Scientific Institute also occupied an entire floor.
When the elevator doors opened, the canteen with its green color scheme came into view. At first glance, it appeared even more spacious than the training ground, with rows of tables and chairs arranged neatly. People moved in threes and fives, chatting and laughing as they carried their trays between the tables and chairs. Among them were Demi-Humans with animal ears and tails.
Seeing the bustling crowd, Shen Cheng felt a bit overwhelmed. It was his first time realizing the immense scale of the Bio-Scientific Institute’s staff.
There must have been at least three to four thousand people, right?
One must know that this was only one canteen in the main building of the Bio-Scientific Institute and did not include frontline and outside personnel.
Pushed forward by Nana, Shen Cheng moved to the innermost part where there were machines for serving food. Following Nana’s guidance, he took out his E-rank Specialized Agent ID card and randomly picked a meal.
The Bio-Scientific Institute’s canteen was fully automated and mechanical. There was no need for manpower in the service, and you wouldn’t see the trembling hands of an old lady.
Unfamiliar with the place, Shen Cheng had no choice but to follow behind Nana. Watching Nana’s swaying tail as she walked, Shen Cheng couldn’t help but feel tempted to grab it.
“Look, Milk Tea is over there!” Hearing Nana shout, Shen Cheng suppressed his thoughts and followed Nana’s indication. He saw Milk Tea, resembling a large ball of cotton candy, sitting in a corner and eating in small bites. Across from her sat two Demi-Humans.
Milk Tea had significantly gained weight compared to her scrawny appearance a week ago. Her personality had also brightened considerably, as laughter occasionally erupted from her conversations with the Demi-Humans opposite her.
“Made some friends, huh…” Shen Cheng sighed like a father. He then walked over to the empty seat next to Milk Tea, leaving Nana behind. Nana hesitated for a moment but then followed suit like a little follower.
As she was eating, Milk Tea suddenly sensed someone sitting next to her. She was momentarily stunned, then turned her head to look. The next moment, her eyes brightened, and her ears and tail perked up, “Master!”
Rubbing Milk Tea’s head, Shen Cheng smiled and said, “I told you I would come to get you after a week. You didn’t forget, did you?”
Milk Tea shook her head vehemently, “I could never forget! Besides, I listened to Master’s advice and have been eating well these past few days. Sister Yu Lan also said my body has no problems now!”
Just like when they first met, Milk Tea’s voice still had a touch of childishness. However, it was no longer as fragile as a leaf in a storm, but instead possessed a girlish lightness and a hint of vitality.
Turning his face, Shen Cheng looked at the two Demi-Humans sitting opposite Milk Tea. One of them had shoulder-length fiery red hair, with sharp ears that were red on the inside and black on the outside, and a puffy red tail behind her, clearly a fox Demi-Human.
The other Demi-Human had long, snow-white hair, with small triangular snow-white ears atop her head. Behind her was a similar snow-white, slightly fluffy long tail. She had a petite, loli-like figure, even smaller than Milk Tea, and seemed to be a… mink Demi-Human?
And definitely a snow mink.
