“What are you talking about?” Shen Cheng snapped out of his thoughts and smiled as he ruffled Cheese’s hair. “No matter what happens, I’ll always be by your side. Haven’t I said that countless times before?”

Cheese nodded silently and murmured, “But…”

Suddenly, the shrill ring of a phone shattered the forest’s tranquility, cutting off Cheese’s whisper.

Shen Cheng froze for a moment, withdrew his hand from Cheese’s head, and pulled out his phone from his pocket. Seeing it was Liu Su calling, he answered.

“Shen Cheng, return quickly; there’s a mission!”

Static noise followed briefly before it paused, and two clear female voices were heard.

“Information Liaison Officer, Ximing, at your service!”

“Information Liaison Officer, Lingxue, at your service!”

Upon hearing their voices, Shen Cheng smiled faintly and said, “Long time no see.”

“We’re still not seeing each other now!” Lingxue interrupted Shen Cheng’s small talk, sounding somewhat annoyed. “You’re so carefree, aren’t you?
