Chapter 79: The Wolf’s Final Wish (1/2)
“Hmph~ Hmph~ Hmph!!”
“Ahhhhh!!!” Shen Cheng screamed as he ran deeper into the forest, with a wild boar relentlessly chasing after him.
Although the wild boar behind him wasn’t large, clearly just a young one, it still wasn’t something the fifteen-year-old, weak and defenseless Shen Cheng could handle.
“Bang!” Distracted by glancing at the wild boar behind him, Shen Cheng didn’t notice the path ahead and accidentally tripped over a thick tree root, nearly stumbling out of control.
Shen Cheng felt his heart sink as his vision spun. He fell to the ground, rolling several times before coming to a stop, his mouth full of dirt and roots.
But Shen Cheng had no time to pay attention to that. He pushed himself up and turned to see the wild boar rapidly closing the distance, despair written all over his face.
It’s over…
“Roar!!” Just as Shen Cheng thought he was about to be fed to the boar, a black shadow suddenly leaped out from the side, slamming the wild boar to the ground and engaging it in a fierce struggle.
Shen Cheng was stunned for a moment. Looking closely, he saw that the one wrestling with the wild boar was a mighty, majestic… big wolf dog!
The wild boar was clearly no match for the large wolf dog, and soon the boar was crying and wailing, rolling on the ground before fleeing.
Victorious, the big wolf dog looked extremely proud, standing tall with its chest out. Though it had a few scratches, it still appeared incredibly imposing.
“So cool…” Shen Cheng’s eyes lit up. He got up and quickly ran to the wolf dog, tentatively reaching out to touch the gray fur on its back.
“Huh?” The big wolf dog didn’t avoid him, just tilted its head, looking at Shen Cheng in confusion.
“Hey, whose dog are you?” Seeing that the big wolf dog was docile, Shen Cheng excitedly asked.
Hearing this, the big wolf dog’s face darkened. It shook its tail and turned to leave.
However, Shen Cheng followed closely behind the big wolf dog, laughing and saying, “Don’t go, let’s play together! Since your fur is gray, how about I call you Little Gray? Hey…”
The big wolf dog glanced back at Shen Cheng, shook its head, and ignored him, allowing Shen Cheng to follow it. Their shadows stretched long in the sunset.
From then on, every day, Shen Cheng would run into the forest to find the wolf dog, now named “Little Gray,” spending the entire summer together…
The bushes were pushed aside, and when the three saw what was behind them, they all gasped in shock.
Behind the bushes lay a wide grassy field, where more than ten bodies of wolves and humans were scattered.
A breeze blew, carrying the pungent smell of blood.
The three exchanged glances, holding their guns as they stepped over the bushes to investigate the scene.
Among the bodies, only two or three were human, likely Eryndel people, with bite marks all over their bodies and wide eyes, indicating they died in extreme terror.
The rest were wolf corpses, all killed by gunshots.
“What were these people looking for? Wolf Demi-Humans?” Shen Cheng muttered, his brows furrowed tightly as he surveyed the scene.
“Most likely wolf Demi-Humans,” Liu Su said, glancing around. “These are the types of Demi-Humans that our Bio-Scientific Institute has never captured. Looks like we need to act faster.”
None of them noticed a man hiding behind a bush, his bloodshot eyes locked on Shen Cheng and the others, a sinister smile curling at his lips as he slowly raised his rifle, aiming at Shen Cheng’s head.
A beam of sunlight happened to shine on the rifle’s scope, reflecting a blinding silver light.
“Shen Cheng, watch out behind you!” Lingxue’s voice suddenly came through Shen Cheng’s earpiece, causing his heart to skip a beat. He instinctively turned his head and locked eyes with the grinning man.
“Shen Cheng!” Liu Su shouted in alarm, quickly turning to aim his gun.
Shen Cheng’s pupils contracted as he lifted his foot, ready to dodge.
“Damn it!” But the man didn’t give Shen Cheng any time to react, pulling the trigger immediately—
