Chapter 144 Lu Shishen wanted to beat him.

Everyone was stunned by Lu Shi-shen’s words, they stared at him with a mixture of shock and weirdness. Was this still the silent Lu Shi-shen who wouldn’t even make a sound when he was beaten?  It seems marriage really can change a person, he had become someone with blood, flesh, emotions, and knew how to protect his wife.

Compared to everyone’s shock, Ma Yuejie was so embarrassed that his face was burning.  Ever since he took over his grandfather’s job, Ma Yuejie became the capable one in the eyes of his relatives.  Villagers and relatives would praise his abilities when they met him, they were polite to him, and they even asked him to write couplets for the village during the New Year.  He never imagined that one day he would be overshadowed by his cousin who was considered a fool by everyone.  And that wasn’t all, Lu Shi-shen actually dared to kick him out in public, what was the difference between that and slapping him in the face in the street?

Ma Yuejie was furious, he slammed his hand on the table and pointed at Lu Shi-shen’s nose, “Lu Shi-shen, you’re kicking us out for a woman?  You’re abandoning your relatives for that woman, you want to cut off all ties with us, right?”

“The woman you’re talking about is my wife, the one I’m going to spend my life with.” Lu Shi-shen’s expression was indifferent, he didn’t get angry or lose his temper, but his aura directly overwhelmed Ma Yuejie.

“I’m still your brother!” Ma Yuejie roared, his face red with anger, “What are you? This is the Lu family, not the Ma family, your uncle, aunt, and cousin are the ones who have the final say here, it’s not your turn.”

Ma Yuejie picked up the wine cup in front of him and was about to smash it on the ground, trying to vent his anger, more like trying to use this method to add to his authority and intimidation.  But as soon as he raised his wrist, a strong force stopped him, a sharp pain shot up his nerve to his forehead, making his expression contort.  “Ouch… Lu Shi-shen, what are you doing? “This is the Lu family, not the Ma family, it’s not your place to smash plates and bowls here.” Lu Shi-shen said in a cold voice, then took the wine cup from Ma Yuejie’s hand and placed it on the table.

Only then did everyone finally come to their senses. Ma Hao was a bully who was only tough on the weak, he was so scared now that his head was almost buried under the table, he felt like Lu Shi-shen’s eyes were like a man-eating monster, terrifying.

It was Lu Shi-shen who wanted to hit him.  After persuading Ma Yuejie, Ma Guilin went to persuade Lu Shi-shen, “Yuejie might have had too much to drink, he doesn’t know what he’s saying, today is your and Niannian’s happy day, don’t spoil the mood.”

Lu Zhengyi also chimed in, “Your cousin might really be a little drunk, let it go this time. If he says another inappropriate word, don’t even think about it, I won’t agree.”  This was clearly said to the Ma brothers, he wouldn’t allow the Ma family to cause trouble in the Lu family, otherwise, outsiders would think that the Lu family was easy to bully and had no one to stand up for them.

Ma Yuejie and Ma Hao combined couldn’t beat Lu Shi-shen, so Yang Niannian wasn’t worried at all, she sat in the main room and watched the drama unfold like it was a TV show.

Niu He Cao was stunned for a moment, she was carefully analyzing whether this was an insult or a compliment, when Lu Xiuhou and Lu Xiujun quickly intervened and calmed her down.
