Chapter 153 Where did Lu Shishen, who remained calm even though he was holding a beautiful woman, go?

Lu Guozhi borrowed a bicycle from Lu Zhengyi’s house and, along with Lu Qingyuan, drove Lu Shi-shen and Yang Niannian into town. The dirt roads in the countryside were bumpy, and even though Lu Shi-shen had tied some straw to the back seat, Yang Niannian’s butt was still sore from the jolting.  Looking at Lu Guozhi sitting on the back seat of Lu Qingyuan’s bicycle, she found it a bit funny.  Luckily, Lu Shi-shen was strong and rode fast, they reached the edge of town quickly. Once they switched to the paved road, it wasn’t as bumpy.  When they got to the city, Lu Guozhi gave them a few more instructions and then rode back with Lu Qingyuan, each on their own bicycle.

“Why didn’t we go directly to the train station?” Yang Niannian wasn’t very familiar with the city, but she had been there twice, she knew that it was still a long way from the train station.

Lu Shi-shen explained, “The train station is crowded and chaotic, the accommodation isn’t very good.”

Yang Niannian looked at him in surprise, she hadn’t expected him to pay attention to these details, he was quite particular.  She blinked, “Where are we going now?”

Lu Shi-shen, “Let’s go buy a watch first.”

Yang Niannian’s eyes lit up, she hadn’t expected him to remember this, having a watch would definitely be more convenient, Yang Niannian was overjoyed and followed behind Lu Shi-shen.

They quickly found a watch shop, judging from the condition of the sign, it seemed to be an old shop.  The shop owner was an old man in his sixties, he saw them come in and immediately greeted them with a smile.  “Are you looking for a men’s watch or a women’s watch?  We have a few new models here, they just arrived from the big city.”

“A women’s watch.”  Lu Shi-shen was usually in the army, he didn’t need a personal watch.

As soon as the owner heard this, he quickly took them to look at the women’s watches on the counter, he kept recommending a few new models that had just arrived from the big city.  They looked good, but Yang Niannian didn’t feel like buying any of them, she felt that they didn’t have any special features.

Seeing that Yang Niannian didn’t seem to like any of them, Lu Shi-shen said softly, “If you don’t like any of these, let’s go to another shop.”

They were going to take the train back to Haicheng tomorrow, they had plenty of time today, it was fine to shop around.  Before Yang Niannian could say anything, the owner, who heard that they were about to leave, became anxious and quickly said, “I have all the models from other shops here, there are many more, come and take a look.”

Yang Niannian walked over and took a look, and immediately her eyes fell on a watch with a plum blossom logo, silver, with a steel strap, it was elegant and stylish.  Lu Shi-shen noticed that her eyes were shining as she stared at the plum blossom watch, he asked the owner to take it out for them to look at.  Seeing that the two of them liked this watch, the shop owner’s expression was a little strange.  He took out the watch and explained, “You two have good taste, this watch is the treasure of my little shop, the Plum Blossom King watch.”

Hearing the words “treasure of the shop,” Yang Niannian knew that the watch wasn’t cheap, she tried it on and liked it even more.  “How much?”

The shop owner held up three fingers, “300 yuan, no bargaining.”  In their small county, they could only sell one Plum Blossom watch a month at most, he didn’t expect to sell the watch this time.  He didn’t mind taking out the watch for them to look at, following the principle of doing business with integrity and building a good reputation.  Maybe… he could sell it?

Yang Niannian breathed a sigh of relief when she heard the price, she thought it would be 700 or 800 yuan.  Seeing her wearing the watch and looking at it left and right, she couldn’t put it down, Lu Shi-shen said to the owner, “We’ll take it.”

“Take it?”  The owner was still a little confused, he repeated, “This watch is 300 yuan, no bargaining.”  Watches that cost a hundred yuan or so, they sold a lot of those, but watches that cost 300 yuan, they didn’t sell many in their small town, not even a few in a whole year.  Usually, people who came to buy this kind of watch were people who had made a lot of money in the big cities.

Yang Niannian was amused by the owner, she said seriously, “Boss, we really want this watch, can you help me adjust the strap, it’s a little big for me.”

The owner was overjoyed, he nodded repeatedly, he was very enthusiastic, thinking that the two of them were buying a wedding watch, he kept praising Yang Niannian for finding a good partner.

Lu Shi-shen nodded “Mm” and picked up his luggage bag, he took her hand and walked forward, he didn’t look at her the whole time.

They found a noodle shop and ate Ancheng’s special mixed noodles, then they checked into a hotel nearby, it was convenient to take the bus from here, they could go directly to the train station tomorrow morning.  Ancheng was much less developed than Haicheng, for example, when it came to hotels, they weren’t allowed to stay in the same room unless they were a couple, they said they were a couple, but the proprietress didn’t believe them.  Her eyes were like searchlights, she looked them up and down and said, “They’re being stricter lately, you need to show your marriage certificate to prove that you’re a couple, not just messing around.”
