Chapter 154 Hold the back of your head with your hands and stand against the wall

The innkeeper, having seen it all in her years of running the inn, quickly recovered.

Her eyes widened in suspicion as she stared at Lu Shi Shen. “What are you two up to? What are you doing with so many of these in your bag?”

Yang Nian Nian was startled back to reality by her shout. She quickly pulled out their marriage certificate and frantically gathered the items, stuffing them back into the suitcase. She awkwardly explained, “Cough…well, isn’t there a policy on having fewer children now?

 We’re bringing these for a friend…”  Well, she didn’t even believe her own excuse. Whatever, it wasn’t illegal to bring these things.

She stubbornly handed the marriage certificate to the innkeeper, “Here, this is our marriage certificate.” The innkeeper glanced at the marriage certificate. It didn’t have a photo, only names, so she couldn’t confirm if it was actually theirs. However, they had presented their documents, and as a business owner, she couldn’t be too rigid.

She pulled out a key from her drawer and handed it to Yang Nian Nian, tilting her chin and saying, “Room 206. Don’t make too much noise at night.

 The room isn’t soundproof, and you don’t want to disturb other guests.” Understanding the innkeeper’s implication, Yang Nian Nian’s face turned as red as a shrimp. She took the key with a thick face, “Thank you.” With that, she walked towards the stairs, Lu Shi Shen carrying their suitcase behind her. They had only taken two steps when the innkeeper’s voice rang out again. “Young people, even if you have lots of energy, you have to take it easy. Be careful not to strain your waist…Nowadays, young people just don’t take care of themselves.

They rely on their good health and don’t care about the consequences.” Yang Nian Nian’s legs went weak, “….”

 There was no need to be so kind and remind them.  She found Room 206 and opened the door. It was a very small room with only a bed and a small wooden table. There was no bathroom or shower, it was quite simple, but luckily, it came with a small electric fan. Closing the door, Yang Nian Nian turned to Lu Shi Shen, “Why did Mom and Dad put so many of these in our bag?”

 She had thought about it, and Lu Shi Shen definitely wouldn’t do something like this. It must have been her parents who bought them and put them in their luggage.  However, Lu Shi Shen’s words almost made her jaw drop. “They didn’t put them in.”

Having experienced gunfire, Lu Shi Shen’s reaction time was quick, and his expression had returned to normal.  “If it wasn’t them, then it was you…”

 Yang Nian Nian realized something and stared at Lu Shi Shen with surprise, “You, you bought so many of these, what for?” As soon as the words left her mouth, she regretted it. What a stupid question! What could he possibly buy these for?

 This guy was definitely a fake good boy. Her face uncontrollably began to burn, and her eyes darted around, avoiding eye contact with Lu Shi Shen. Help!

This was so embarrassing.

 Looking at Yang Nian Nian’s delicate, peach-red cheeks, Lu Shi Shen felt a little awkward too. He pursed his lips and replied seriously and formally, “It’s not that many, only 150, enough for four or five months.” He paused and added, “I’m usually busy and don’t go out much.  Even if she calculated it at 5 months, on average, she would need to use at least 30 a month. Excluding her period, that meant using 1-2 per day on average…

 She suddenly remembered what the innkeeper had said when they went upstairs, and then she thought about Lu Shi Shen’s strong, muscular waist, and her face felt like it was about to burn up. How could he say such a tiring thing with such a normal, serious tone?  How could it sound like flipping over in bed when he said it… 

‘Bang bang’ There was a sudden sound of pounding on the door from outside, followed by a man’s rough voice shouting, “Open up…

” This sudden commotion startled Yang Nian Nian, and the messy thoughts in her head instantly disappeared. She looked at Lu Shi Shen anxiously, guessing, “Could it be someone trying to rob us?” As far as she knew, there had been cases of bad guys breaking into inns to rob people in this era.  Lu Shi Shen shook his head, calm as ever, “Don’t be afraid, you stand by the bed.” That was the furthest position from the door, and even if there was a fight later, she wouldn’t be hurt.

  Yang Nian Nian nodded obediently, not forgetting to bring the suitcase with her. It had over 100 yuan in it, and she couldn’t let it be stolen.

“Open up…” The people outside, seeing that no one opened the door for a long time, pounded even harder, as if they were about to break the door down.  Lu Shi Shen saw Yang Nian Nian standing in a safe position before opening the door.

Four or five policemen rushed into the room.

 After confirming that Lu Shi Shen wasn’t carrying any weapons, the policemen relaxed their vigilance a little. The leading policeman ordered, “Hands on your head, back against the wall.” Lu Shi Shen walked to the wall without any change in expression, but he didn’t put his hands on his head. Seeing that it was the police, Yang Nian Nian breathed a sigh of relief, “Police officers, what are you checking for?”

 The leading policeman had someone watch Lu Shi Shen and walked up to Yang Nian Nian, looking her up and down. “Show me your marriage certificate.” Yang Nian Nian quickly handed him the certificate, “We are a real couple.”

 The policeman glanced at it. It only had names and no photos, so it was hard to tell if it was actually them. He asked with a serious face, “What village are you from? What are you buying so many of these for?”  Yang Nian Nian, “…”

 She wished she could die for a while.
