“What are you talking about? Are you still delusional? I said no!”
“You don’t want to be separated from me. Why won’t you admit it…?”
No one wants to live with someone and suffer from morning sickness when they’re not even in love. Are you going to keep denying it?
But he grumbled and glanced at Chase, then lowered his head hurriedly when he met his sharp gaze. He must not like it. Or else, why are you glaring at him like that? That black panther…
“That’s absolutely not true. Anyway, let’s go home and talk again. What are you doing out on the street?”
“I didn’t bring it up. You were the one who proposed to me on the street.”
“You just said so! And when am I going to propose? Don’t kill a living person!”
“I guess a proposal is asking to live together.”
“Say that again.”
“I didn’t say anything…”
“Okay. Don’t say anything like that again.”
“…”
I almost got eaten in the middle of the street after adding a word in a hushed voice. Chase’s expression as he glared at me with his pitch-black eyes was so scary that I wanted to turn into a puppy and pretend not to see him.
But just as it is not easy to humanize when in puppy form, it is not easy to change into a real body. Normally, it would be possible, but I, who has only been a human for a month and a week, could not do it.
With no other choice. I trudged along in silence, my questions still unanswered. As Chase had said, it didn’t seem like something to talk about on the street, so I headed to his house.
Soon we arrived in front of the Black Panther’s Den. It was a quiet place with only a few old houses scattered here and there, although it was not far from the city center.
In the middle of the original story, Chase moves into a penthouse in a luxury apartment complex, but it feels like he is still a poor college student struggling with living expenses due to his mother’s hospital bills. Still, there was a long, low mountain ridge nearby, and a lake as clear as ice was nestled beneath the mountain, so the view was good.
“There’s a place with such a beautiful view nearby? The lake is as big as the ocean.”
As I looked around in admiration, Chase, for some reason, did not act strangely and responded normally. It seemed as if his neighborhood had been praised, and he had become more generous.
“Well, this is Garden City.”
“Ah… I see, it’s Garden City.”
He said it as if it was obvious, so I nodded as if I knew, but I didn’t know what he was taIking about, so I looked around hesitantly. Chase looked down at me blankly, and then suddenly made a face. No, why again?
“What’s with your expression? You don’t like the restricted development zone because your body is precious?”
“No, I just don’t know what it is! Not knowing isn’t a crime!”
“Are you saying you don’t even know what Garden City is?”
“I have amnesia… Please help me remember!”
Why do you have to get so angry every time when you can just teach him nicely? No matter how much I think about it, Chase seems to have a problem with anger management.
After much deliberation, Chase finally told me that Garden City was the official term for a restricted development area. It was a 20-minute drive from the city center, but the scenery was so spectacular that it was restricted from development, and it was cheap, so the Chase’s family was able to settle there.
I stared blankly at Chase’s face, astonished, as he continued to talk like that. Chase, who gave such a long explanation without getting angry even once, was so unfamiliar that I felt distant.
His already handsome face was even more dazzling. I guess I had gotten used to Chase’s temper without realizing it.
“Are you listening?”
“yes yes…”
I came to my senses in surprise at Chase’s gaze looking down at me with an expression that seemed to be unbearable. What did he say?
“Development limit… 20 minutes… What did you say?”
“Okay. Anyway, that’s why the prices are cheap near this ice lake.”
“yes.”
I answered absentmindedly, but then I suddenly raised my head as I thought I heard a familiar word… An ice lake… Could it be the ice lake that Leoruka fell into?
“Excuse me, is that lake called Ice Lake?”
He grabbed Chase’s clothes and asked urgently.
“Yes. It’s called that because the lake freezes over every winter. Come on in.”
Chase opened the front door, responding dryly. But I was in no position to enter the panther den with ease. From this position, the ice lake would be clearly visible from Chase’s window.
Even though I live a carefree life. I am not strong enough to feel at ease when I see a grave right in front of me. I quickly became lost in thought and shouted as I backed away in panic.
“No, I can’t live here. I want to go home!”
“This is really… Who let you live here? Listen to what I have to say first!”
“No, send me home! Argh!”
I screamed and struggled, and then Chase grabbed my scruff. I felt like my feet were going to leave the floor, but then with a bang, my body suddenly became lighter. I could clearly feel Chase’s sharp gaze pouring down on my head.
Chase shouted with a fierce air.
“Aren’t you going to change your habit of acting like a puppy when you’re really being bullied?”
“Kang!”
Even as a human, he couldn’t overcome Chase’s strength, let alone escape his grasp as a puppy. In the end, he was dragged to the black panther’s den, his head resting on Chase’s shoulder.
Chase sat down on the sofa and made me sit on his lap, and opened his mouth with a very unpleasant expression on his face.
