While on the way to the Holy Nation of Temira, Ranelle remained solemn for a while, worried about her family’s safety and the weight of her responsibilities as President. However, after some conversation with Nagisa, her spirits gradually lifted, and a smile returned to her face. It would be rude to interrupt their conversation now, so I decided to leave them be.
That said, an important mission awaits us when we arrive in Temira, so I decided to grab a bite to eat while I had the chance. As I was contemplating what to eat, Nanami came over, carrying a large amount of potato dishes.
“Yuta, want to eat this together?”
“What’s all this?”
“I made it! Since I’m not used to cooking, I ended up making a lot, so I thought I’d share it with you.”
“Nanami’s homemade food, huh…”
“Hey, what’s with that worried look? It’s fine! I followed Seion’s instructions exactly.”
Seion’s Japanese cooking is indeed delicious, but when it’s Nanami doing the cooking, for some reason, it makes me anxious. It’s a strange thing.
However, against my expectations, Nanami’s potato dishes were quite good. I was pretty hungry, so I ended up eating a lot.
“Yuta, can I talk to you for a moment?”
Amuria said this as she sat down beside me. Without missing a beat, she took a bite of a potato dish, continuing to talk without commenting on the taste.
“Rafishal sketched out a blueprint of the jamming device. This will be our target for the mission, so make sure to take a look.”
The paper she handed me had a drawing of an oddly shaped device. It had a spiky appearance, making it easily recognizable.
“How big is it?”
“It’s supposed to be quite large.”
“Then we shouldn’t have any trouble identifying it.”
However, Jean, who had overheard my overly confident remark, didn’t let it slide.
“That’s not necessarily true. There could be decoys. You’ve got a bad habit of making assumptions, Yuta.”
While grumbling and giving me a lecture, Jean grabbed one of Nanami’s potato dishes. Without showing much reaction, he popped a second one into his mouth, so I guess it wasn’t bad.
“Decoys, huh? That’s a possibility too… Hm? Nanami, what’s wrong? You seem upset.”
“Why isn’t anyone saying anything about the potatoes!? I worked really hard on them!”
It seemed that she wanted to hear someone say they were delicious and was now sulking because no one had. Now that I think about it, I hadn’t said anything either.
“Oh, sorry, sorry. They’re definitely delicious.”
“‘Definitely’ is unnecessary. Just saying ‘delicious’ is fine.”
Nanami pouted slightly but seemed to cheer up after hearing my compliment. She then started clinging to me, saying things like, “Say ahh,” and being overly affectionate.
“Oh my, I was thinking of discussing the mission plans, but it seems you’re busy, so maybe I should come back later?”
Nagisa said in a sarcastic tone. There was nothing inappropriate going on, but when she speaks in that tone, it’s terrifying, so I quickly responded with enthusiasm.
“N-no, it’s fine! Let’s go over the plan right now! Right now!”
I hastily guided Nagisa to the meeting room, pushing her along.
