Regarding the limiter installation incident on Arleo II, leaving it unaddressed wasn’t an option. Jean decided to summon the suspect for questioning. I argued that it wasn’t necessary to go that far, but he insisted, saying, “It’s not really an interrogation; we’re just having a conversation. I think we’ll hear some interesting things.” So, I stepped back.
The summoned person seemed to understand that the interrogation was about to begin. They sat down obediently in the prepared chair, looking quite serious.
“So, Fistina, why did you install a limiter on Arleo II? And you copied Feri’s biological data, didn’t you? If you have any excuse, let’s hear it.”
Jean asked in a calm, non-accusatory tone. Fistina replied without changing her expression.
“Yes, I installed the limiter on Arleo II and copied Feri’s biological data. It was all me.”
“Why would you do that?”
“Because I’m a spy sent by the Rafishal Society.”
I expected a bit of resistance, but Fistina admitted it plainly.
“I see, that works out well. I have some questions about the Rafishal Society.”
“Do you think I’ll talk? I’m a spy, you know.”
“I think you will. Your actions as a spy have been somewhat erratic. I believe you have your own motives separate from the Society’s. Am I right?”
“…You’re quite perceptive. Fine, I’ll tell you what I know.”
“First question, then. What is the Rafishal Society’s goal?”
“They claim it’s to establish a new world order…but the real objective is to obtain technology that interferes with higher dimensions.”
There she goes, talking nonsense again… I couldn’t understand what she meant. However, Rafishal and Feri’s simulacrum, who were listening, reacted sharply.
“Higher dimensions! That’s ridiculous; it’s impossible!”
“Even theoretically, it’s unattainable. It’s as fantastical as saying a legendary hero will save the real world.”
“But the leader of the Rafishal Society genuinely believes it. He’s willing to use everything in this world to achieve it.”
“I see. So the Rafishal Society’s leader is a mad dreamer. Next question: Why did the Society send a spy into the Musou Iron Cavalry? When you joined, we were just an unknown mercenary group…what was the purpose?”
“Originally, it was to monitor the Grand Sage Rafishal. But once they identified Feri Rudia and noticed that Yuta’s class was 2, I became a top-priority observer. Now, the Musou Iron Cavalry is regarded as powerful as the Demon King-controlled Elysian Empire.”
“That’s an overstatement. We’re just a mercenary group, no matter how strong we are; we don’t rival an entire nation. Next question, why did you install a limiter that only halves Arleo II’s abilities? If you wanted, you could have reduced its capabilities even more. Why only halfway?”
“Because I wanted Yuta to win. Based on his current skills, I believed he could still defeat Fistoa even with his abilities halved.”
“You sound as if you know Fistoa’s strength well.”
“Fistoa is my brother, so of course I know him well.”
“W-what…he’s your brother?”
Shocked, I found myself asking in a dumbfounded tone.
