“Are you alright….? Are you feeling good now?’

Alaine gently rubbed my back as I finally calmed down. 

“Yeah. Thank you….”

I thanked Alaine and slowly got up. Then I cleaned the ground, Alaine and myself with magic since I had soiled them with my vomit. 

“Are you fine? Can you continue on?”

“Yeah…….. I’m fine. There’s no problem.”

I nodded as I tried to control my still trembling body. 

“I need to go to make sure. Come on, let’s go?”

“Wai-?!”

I pushed Alaine’s back and we went further into the cave. 

“…….If Zero said so then we’ll go but… If you think it’s going to be too much for you, you need to tell me, okay? You are a hundred times more important than the evil god. Zero is everything to me after all.”

“Yeah. I know…. But, I think I’ll be alright.”

Backing off at this point is not an option…. We need to go forward to ascertain what lies ahead….

The sound of us walking forward was reverberating inside the cave. There was no one coming to attack us while we were advancing forward….. Maybe there was no human who became part of the evil god’s cult in this world. 

“… Are you okay?”

“Yes. I’m okay.”

I nodded. 

The two of us walked in the cave for a while before we finally reached the end of the cave. I could see light coming from what I assumed was the exit of the cave. 

……….It seems there’s no door here.

If I had to describe it, the light we saw was not like the light from sunshine but more like the flickering light from fire…… Rather than sunlight it was like light from a torch. It reminded me of the light we saw from the torch when we fought that evil god with disgusting preference from before. 

……….There’s nothing to worry about. None. None at all. 

“Zero…….”

“Hm? What is it?”

I tilted my head to the side at Alaine who was looking at me in surprise for some reason. 

“No, it’s nothing….. Let’s go.”

Alaine smiled before she started walking confidently. I just let her guide me in front.

We left the cave. Then, as soon as we left the cave, the stinky scent of something decaying, the smell of blood, the smell of death, rushed onto us.

“Is this the place?”

“Phew….”

I sighed heavily. I barely managed to resist falling down on my knees due to relief. In front of us, there was an underground space supported by 9 huge pillars with the shape of a cross.
