I’m Not Familiar With Him!
I’m Not Familiar With Him! Chapter 50

Chapter 050

The path down the mountain felt really long.

This long mountain trail had almost no other properly developed side roads and was filled with colleagues from the Blue Ocean Robotics Algorithm Department.

He Ye might be new, but everyone knew Lu Jin.

After a while, He Ye felt overwhelmed and whispered to Lu Jin, “Let’s find a place to stop and wait for everyone to finish before heading down the mountain.”

Lu Jin looked around and said, “Going into the woods now could lead to misunderstandings.”

He Ye’s face turned red. She thought being teased by colleagues was better than being carried by Lu Jin in front of everyone for an hour. In the city, they could take a taxi easily, but now they were in the mountains, and it would take about an hour to reach a taxi stand.

Lu Jin turned around, and He Ye buried her head in his shoulder. Lu Jin could feel the heat radiating from her face, realizing how shy she was.

The terrain was mostly flat, and Lu Jin stepped down the stairs, moving to the left. The colleagues watching smiled knowingly but didn’t cause a scene.

A few minutes later, Lu Jin found a small valley away from the hiking trail and gently placed He Ye on flat ground where she could sit.

He Ye avoided looking at him. She opened her backpack and found two individually wrapped iodine sticks and Band-Aids in case of injuries, but she didn’t expect to use them.

Lu Jin, wanting to help her, sat next to her and pulled out some water. “Wash the scratches first,” he said.

He Ye winced as it hurt when Lu Jin rinsed her abrasion. He glanced at her but continued to wash it gently. After cleaning, he helped apply the iodine and asked, “You carry a lot of supplies. Have you been injured before?”

He Ye replied, “No, I just got used to it. My dad always prepared these for school outings.”

Lu Jin responded, “Uncle He takes good care of you.”

She smiled, thinking her father was caring but struggled to take care of himself. Fortunately, she had Wu Li with her now.

After applying the iodine, Lu Jin said, “Let it air out. You don’t need a Band-Aid anymore.” He Ye nodded.

Their conversation calmed her a bit, but looking down the mountain made her uneasy. Lu Jin suggested, “If you’re not in a hurry, we can wait until everyone leaves and then go back. It might be faster.”

While a taxi could be caught at the foot of the mountain, it was still within a busy area with many tourists, making travel slow. He Ye replied, “Okay.”

Lu Jin instructed her to check her left foot for any scratches. He turned away, making He Ye think it was strange to avoid looking at ankles.

After checking, she saw it was just red but not scratched. “I’m fine,” she confirmed.

“Good,” Lu Jin replied. He took out his phone to check the map and said, “It’s the weekend, so hospitals will be crowded. Shall we go to this private hospital later?”

He Ye agreed, asking when the colleagues would leave. Lu Jin estimated, “Half an hour should be enough since we’re at the back.”

After half an hour, Lu Jin carried He Ye again and returned to the hiking path. The weather was nice, and many people were out climbing the mountain. Thankfully, they didn’t know each other. He Ye lay her head on Lu Jin’s shoulder, feeling more relaxed.

Worried about Lu Jin getting tired, she frequently suggested they take breaks. Lu Jin reassured her, “If I’m really tired, I’ll put you down. Don’t worry.”

He Ye insisted, “Don’t be stubborn. If you fall, it will be bad.”

Lu Jin replied, “Don’t worry. You’ve had a rough day, and I won’t let you suffer again.”

He Ye remembered falling down the stairs and felt embarrassed. “Did I fall awkwardly?” she asked.

Lu Jin answered, “I don’t know.”

Surprised, she asked, “You didn’t see it?”

He replied, “If Uncle He fell in front of you, would you care if it looked good?”

His cold tone made her heart race, so she leaned her head on his shoulder, watching the trees go by.

After a while, Lu Jin stopped and turned his back to her, seemingly looking into the distance. But He Ye noticed his breathing was heavy, and sweat was rolling down from behind his ears.

They had climbed for so long, and it would be strange if Lu Jin wasn’t tired. She, the one being carried, felt tired too.

Out of respect for Team Leader Lu, He Ye looked away.

When his breathing returned to normal, Lu Jin walked back.

Before he could speak, He Ye lowered her eyes and handed him two wet wipes.

Lu Jin paused, took the wipes, and used one to clean his face and the other for his neck, paying extra attention to the back of his neck and the sides of his face that she would see later.

One of He Ye’s hands was still in her bag, holding a water bottle.

Next to him was a trash can, so Lu Jin threw the used wipe in it. When he turned back, he noticed her cheeks were red. He offered her half a bottle of water, saying softly, “If you don’t mind, you can hold the bottle up and drink.”

Lu Jin laughed.

At 24 years old, he felt like a high school student when it came to dating, overthinking even drinking water.

But He Ye’s behavior made him feel like they hadn’t been apart for years, as if time had passed like a summer vacation.

He held the end of the bottle and whispered, “I don’t mind, but I’m afraid you might.”

He Ye turned her head away.

Lu Jin opened the bottle and tilted it back, taking several gulps.

He Ye saw his shadow on the ground.

The man who used to kiss her for half an hour anytime now seemed so… careful.

After putting things back into her backpack, He Ye put it on her back, and Lu Jin carried her.

The sun rose higher. It was 16 degrees, but it felt different inside and outside.

As they approached the foot of the mountain, Lu Jin started to sweat again.

Without waiting for He Ye to urge him, he set her down and stepped back to cool off.

He Ye thought of the high school student who wore white shirts and the well-dressed Team Leader Lu in the office.

She smiled and tossed the wet wipes at his feet.

It was a funny scene: she fell down, and he was sweating.

Lu Jin glanced at her, sat on the steps, and wiped himself slowly.

He Ye looked ahead and saw a small yellow flower blooming in the grass by the roadside.

Warm spring is really coming.

The online taxi stopped in front of the private hospital at almost half past eleven.

He Ye sat on a bench watching Lu Jin go to register. After waiting more than ten minutes, it was finally her turn.

Lu Jin wanted to carry He Ye again.

He Ye couldn’t take it: “It’s such a short distance.”

Lu Jin agreed and changed to supporting her. But after a few steps, he picked her up and hurried to the clinic.

He Ye: “…”

Fortunately, he didn’t push her right in front of the doctor.

The doctor examined He Ye’s ankle and said the soft tissue was slightly damaged but the bones seemed fine.

Lu Jin stood nearby, looking at the doctor seriously: “Are you sure?”

Doctor: “…If you’re worried, you can get an X-ray. But it’s probably too late for that. Go have lunch and come back.”

Lu Jin: “Okay, please give us a prescription.”

The doctor smiled and wrote a prescription for He Ye, including some topical medicine.

After leaving the clinic, He Ye whispered, “The doctor said no X-ray was needed, but you still didn’t believe him.”

Lu Jin: “This is considered a work-related injury. I’ll reimburse you.”

He Ye: “…”

This wasn’t about medical costs!

Since He Ye couldn’t move easily, Lu Jin ordered two takeout meals, and they found a quiet spot in the hospital to eat and rest.

Waiting was quite boring. He Ye leaned on the sofa and browsed her phone.

In the department group chat, Feng Qiuyu posted a photo of dinner, expressing concern for He Ye’s injury: [Super delicious, it’s a pity that He Ye missed this meal!]

Cheng Rui: [Maybe Team Leader took the junior sister out for a big meal alone. After all, they are old classmates.]

Brother Qiang: [The restaurant chosen by Team Leader must be better. If I’d known, I would’ve fallen and asked him to carry me down the mountain.]

Jiang Xu: [You might exhaust Team Leader to death.]

Every comment was just a joke.

He Ye muted the group chat and opened a mobile game.

Lu Jin put away his phone: “Are you sleepy? You can take a nap.”

He Ye wasn’t sleepy.

Lu Jin: “Can I order two more cups of milk tea?”

He Ye: “Sure.”

They ordered milk tea, and time seemed to fly by while waiting and drinking.

Lu Jin carried He Ye to get an X-ray, then showed the results to the doctor.

Doctor: “The bones are fine. Just rest and don’t walk much in the next two days. You’ll heal soon.”

He Ye sighed with relief.

Lu Jin carried her out of the hospital and took a taxi back to Dangui Jiayuan.

From the east gate to Building 6, Lu Jin was still carrying He Ye.

The sun was hotter at noon, and even the most handsome man looked a little messy after such a long day.

He Ye lay on Lu Jin’s back and unlocked the door.

Lu Jin stepped inside and reached the elevator. He turned back and asked, “Should we stop here, or should I take you to your door?”

Before He Ye could answer, he added, “I want to take you to your door, but I’m worried you might be uncomfortable.”

What was there to worry about? It was just that he insisted on following her home, and then in her study, he held her on his lap and kissed her.

If He Ye chose the elevator, it would seem like she remembered it clearly.

“At the door,” she replied quietly. She didn’t think badly of him, but he kept bringing it up.

Lu Jin then took her to the door of 901.

With a fingerprint lock, He Ye could open the door by pressing her finger.

She glanced back at Lu Jin.

If she didn’t open it right away, it might seem like she was guarding against him. If she opened it, wouldn’t it be polite to invite him in for a glass of water?

He just stood there, not giving her time to hesitate. She raised her hand and approached the fingerprint lock.

“He Ye,” Lu Jin suddenly spoke.

In the empty, quiet corridor, his voice seemed to reach her heart.

He Ye’s hand trembled and dropped it subconsciously.

After carrying her all the way, he was still a little out of breath, making her think of certain scenes.

She was so flustered that she couldn’t speak, only standing there, waiting for him to continue.

“He Ye,” he called again, as if urging her to respond.

He Ye turned her face away, her eyelashes trembling.

Lu Jin smiled and said, “Isn’t it obvious?”

He Ye’s throat was dry. “What’s obvious?”

Lu Jin was silent for a moment before saying, “Since we met again, I’ve fallen in love with you again. Isn’t it obvious?”

It felt like a question, but he said it like a statement.

He Ye’s mind went blank for a moment, but the throbbing sensation afterward was stronger than falling down a mountain, like a calm sea suddenly turning into a big wave that rushed toward her, leaving her nowhere to hide.

Isn’t it obvious.

There were indeed clear signs, but she thought about it and whispered, “When we first met at the company, you didn’t seem to recognize me.”

Lu Jin replied, “I didn’t dare to get to know you too well, fearing you’d resign on the spot.”

He Ye laughed, lowering her head because of his intense gaze.

“He Ye,” he called her again.

He Ye’s fingertips felt numb.

“I was wrong last time. I’ve corrected my mistakes. Let’s try again?”

He stood just half a step behind her, but after he said this, He Ye suddenly couldn’t hear his breathing, or even her own, which seemed to vanish.

Until her heartbeat resumed, and her body began to function again.

“Um.”

Try again, at an age when everyone is truly mature.

I don’t know about that though, just because your old doesn’t mean you’re mature. However, I hope that these two really matured.
