Chapter 062

After work in the evening, Lu Jin took He Ye to the mall.

During busy meal times, there are long lines outside any restaurant that is popular.

“Here?” Lu Jin asked, pointing at the grilled fish shop next door.

He Ye really likes fish and nodded.

There were plastic benches outside the restaurant, filled with people. Lu Jin didn’t join them. After getting a number, he walked to the far end of the floor with his girlfriend.

There were two white curved chairs near the floor-to-ceiling window, where a couple was cuddling closely together.

He Ye politely looked away.

Lu Jin took her to sit in another curved chair.

He Ye automatically kept a distance of more than ten centimeters from him. She didn’t want to hug or cuddle with her boyfriend in public.

Lu Jin sat with his back to the couple, looked at her, and asked, “Am I really that clingy?”

He Ye glanced at the couple’s hands, still holding each other.

Lu Jin smiled but didn’t let go. He wanted to tease his girlfriend, but someone called him.

Lu Jin took out his phone.

He Ye glanced and saw that the caller ID said “Little Aunt.” Then she looked at Lu Jin and noticed he frowned slightly.

She was curious because, based on her limited understanding, Lu Jin should have a good relationship with his aunt.

Lu Jin held his girlfriend’s hand with his left hand and answered the phone with his right hand.

Aunt: “Are you off work? Are you busy?”

Lu Jin: “It’s fine. I’m waiting outside for dinner.”

Aunt: “By yourself?”

His girlfriend shook her head at him, so Lu Jin had to vaguely say, “It’s a dinner for colleagues.”

Aunt: “Are you working overtime on weekends?”

Lu Jin: “…Do you want me to look after the child again?”

The aunt laughed a few times and said, “It can’t be helped. Your uncle is busy with a big lawsuit. I have to go to Guangzhou for a comic exhibition. I wanted to send Xiao Yi to your grandparents, but they went on a trip.”

Aunt: “Why, don’t you have time?”

He Ye shook his hand.

Lu Jin had no choice but to say, “Yes, should I pick him up tonight, or can you bring him over tomorrow morning?”

Aunt: “Tonight, my flight is at nine tomorrow morning.”

Lu Jin: “Okay, I’ll come right after I finish my meal.”

The call ended, and he put his phone away.

He Ye asked curiously, “Is your aunt a comic artist?”

Lu Jin agreed, opened a social media app, and went to his aunt’s page.

He Ye took the phone and looked closely. She was impressed to find that Lu Jin’s aunt was a big star with millions of fans. Her daily posts included comic works, food, scenery, cats, and a selfie!

He Ye: “So beautiful, so young.”

Lu Jin: “She is only twelve years older than me, so she’s my younger aunt.”

He Ye was still admiring his aunt’s looks: “No wonder your cousin is so handsome. By the way, how old is your cousin?”

Lu Jin: “Nine years old.”

He Ye continued scrolling through his aunt’s posts, reading them with interest.

Lu Jin: “Let’s go pick him up after dinner?”

He Ye’s fingers stopped moving.

Lu Jin: “You said you’re not familiar with me? This is a good chance to get to know me better, starting with elementary school students.”

He Ye: “…will he tell your aunt and the others when he goes back?”

Lu Jin: “It doesn’t matter if he tells them. They all live across the river, so we don’t have a chance to meet normally.”

He Ye was still hesitant.

Lu Jin: “You’re not afraid of even elementary school students, are you?”

He Ye: “…I’m not afraid of anyone. It’s a question of whether it’s necessary to meet.”

Lu Jin: “We’ll meet sooner or later, unless you plan to break up with me again.”

He Ye was defeated.

After eating the grilled fish, Lu Jin took her out. He discussed with his aunt before driving and parked his car at the entrance of the community, letting Qin Yi come downstairs by himself.

There was a bit of traffic, and they didn’t arrive at his aunt’s community until eight o’clock.

He Ye sat in the passenger seat, nervously staring at the entrance of the residential complex, worried that Lu Jin’s aunt would come out.

A few minutes later, Qin Yi, the elementary school student, appeared, running happily with his schoolbag bouncing behind him, which was the unique cuteness of children at this age.

He Ye relaxed. She really wasn’t afraid of elementary school students!

Qin Yi ran to the car and noticed someone sitting in the passenger seat. His eyes widened in surprise.

Lu Jin lowered the window and told him to get in quickly.

Qin Yi looked at his cousin, walked around to the passenger seat, and politely invited He Ye: “Sister, can you sit in the back with me? It’s too boring for me to sit in the back alone.”

He Ye couldn’t bear to reject a polite and sensible real elementary school student, so she left her boyfriend and sat in the back with Qin Yi.

Lu Jin looked at her deeply.

He Ye didn’t pay attention to him because Qin Yi was a little shy. Once he sat down, he opened his schoolbag and showed He Ye the homework he had to complete that weekend.

He Ye comforted him: “You can play after you finish writing.”

Qin Yi: “I want to go to the aquarium, but my brother never wants to take me, saying it’s too childish. Sister, are you free tomorrow? Let’s go together! I’ll treat you, tickets and snacks included.”

He Ye, who was indeed free, looked at her boyfriend who was driving.

Lu Jin asked the elementary school student expressionlessly: “Will you treat me too?”

Qin Yi: “Aren’t you not interested?”

Lu Jin looked at He Ye in the rearview mirror and said frankly, “I’m not interested in going with you; I’m interested in going with my girlfriend.”

He Ye: “…”

Because he had to look after the child, Lu Jin first took He Ye to Dangui Jiayuan and then drove directly to the underground garage.

He Ye got out of the car, walked to the elevator hall, and waved to the two of them with a smile.

Lu Jin waited until she entered the elevator before driving away.

Qin Yi asked, “Did you really like Sister Xiao Ye for six years?”  

Lu Jin seemed to ignore the question and just kept driving.  

Qin Yi continued, “I’m curious, why did Sister Xiao Ye break up with you? The last time we met, you two weren’t together.”  

At first, Lu Jin didn’t want to answer, but then he glanced at the elementary school student in the back seat. After thinking for a moment, he replied, “I wanted her to apply to Tsinghua University with me, but she was worried her grades wouldn’t be good enough for her favorite major, so she insisted on going to Jiaotong University. I kept pushing her, and she got unhappy, so we broke up.”  

Qin Yi said, “Then you deserved it. My mother said you can’t force girls to do things they don’t like.”  

Lu Jin agreed, “Yes, you need to learn from my mistake and respect your girlfriend’s choices in the future.”  

Qin Yi replied, “Let’s talk about it later. Right now, I need to study hard.”  

Lu Jin smiled.  

The homework for primary school students is relatively simple, and Qin Yi finished it all in just forty minutes.  

He wanted to play some games.  

Lu Jin suggested, “Let’s play games now and go to the aquarium tomorrow to choose one for ourselves.”  

Qin Yi had to take a shower, brush his teeth, and go to the guest room to sleep.  

He was the only one who had stayed in Lu Jin’s guest room so far, which had a Lego robot inside.  

Lu Jin watched Qin Yi get into bed and said, “I forgot something at He Ye’s place. I’ll be back soon. Just sleep well and don’t move around. If someone knocks, call me first. Don’t open the door yourself.”  

Qin Yi asked, “When will you be back?”  

Lu Jin replied, “It’ll take about half an hour to walk there.”  

Qin Yi nodded.  

Lu Jin turned off the lights and walked out the door, standing outside to listen for noises.  

After a while, Qin Yi’s voice came from inside: “Why aren’t you leaving? I won’t play on your computer, don’t worry!”  

Lu Jin replied, “It’s no use. I changed my password.”  

Qin Yi asked, “Isn’t it the one with 520?”  

His cousin’s old phone and current door lock all had the same password. He memorized it after seeing it so many times and found it surprisingly effective for unlocking the computer.  

Lu Jin said, “No.”  

Qin Yi sighed, “You’re so mean, I’ll really go to sleep then.”  

Lu Jin looked at the study and decided to trust the elementary school student this time.  

After He Ye returned home, she took a shower and changed into pajamas.  

Lu Jin’s clothes were still hanging on the balcony, already dry.  

He Ye took off everything except her shorts, folded them, and put them in the bag she brought from home.  

After finishing, she thought leaving only a pair of shorts looked too obvious, and Lu Jin would definitely give her that look when he saw her.  

So, she also put the black shorts into the bag.  

It was almost ten o’clock. He Ye turned off the lights in the living room and went back to the master bedroom.  

Just as she leaned against the head of the bed, Lu Jin’s message arrived: “I’m outside the door, come get the clothes.”  

He Ye replied, “…Wait a moment, three minutes.”  

Next, she took one minute to change her clothes and two minutes to hang Lu Jin’s clothes back on the balcony, leaving him no chance to tease her.  

After finishing, He Ye took a deep breath and opened the door as if nothing happened.  

Because the balcony faced the entrance, when she opened the door, Lu Jin looked at his girlfriend first, then noticed the clothes swaying slightly on the balcony.  

In the morning, he had washed the old pajamas, bath towel, and towel, leaving those items untouched.  

Though he had many thoughts, Lu Jin just glanced at the clothes and looked away, lowering his head to change his slippers.  

He Ye asked, “Is it okay to leave Qin Yi alone at home?”  

Lu Jin replied, “It’s fine; he’ll probably just play games in the study.”  

He Ye said, “Actually, you could wait until he leaves before coming back to get it. Why are you in such a hurry?”  

Lu Jin went to wash his hands in the nearest kitchen. When he came out, he looked at her and said, “No rush.”  

He Ye instantly understood his look.  

They hadn’t kissed yet today.  

Since there were no curtains on the balcony, He Ye turned off the lights.  

Lu Jin pulled her to sit on the sofa.  

He Ye placed her hand on his chest and gently reminded him, “I’m still a little worried, so don’t kiss for too long tonight.”  

Lu Jin joked, “Should I set an alarm?”  

It was a bit funny, but since it involved the safety of a primary school student, He Ye agreed.  

Lu Jin set an alarm for twenty minutes. Before the phone screen went dark, he came closer to her, wrapped his arm around her, and held her face.  

He breathed in her hair and asked, “Have you showered?”  

He Ye felt uneasy about his sharpness.  

Lu Jin began kissing her from behind her ear and then on the back of her neck.  

He Ye suddenly felt weak and hunched her shoulders to avoid him.  

After a while, they ended up falling on the sofa together.  

This was a risky position, and Lu Jin consciously propped himself up.  

As he tried to push against the sofa with his left forearm, she wrapped her hands around his neck.  

Lu Jin’s throat moved, and he looked seriously at his girlfriend beneath him.  

She closed her eyes, breathing quickly.  

“He Ye,” he said, still supporting himself with his left arm, keeping some distance, and asked cautiously, “Is it what I think it is?”  

He Ye didn’t answer and leaned back against the sofa.  

Lu Jin’s breathing grew heavier: “If you don’t answer, I’ll take it as a yes.”  

He Ye remained silent.  

Lu Jin smiled, shifting his gaze from her face to her collar. Suddenly, taking advantage of her position, he lifted her up, pressing her into the sofa next to him.  

The world turned upside down, and suddenly He Ye was facing her boyfriend: “…”
