Chapter 064
On Tuesday, it started raining, and the weather forecast predicted it would continue until the end of March.
When Cheng Rui finished work on Thursday night, he coughed and announced loudly, “Don’t blame me for not reminding you. The temperature will drop sharply tomorrow morning. Wear your down jackets and don’t catch a cold.”
Cheng Rui said this while still wearing a short-sleeved shirt.
The highest temperature that day was 27 degrees Celsius. Many male colleagues wore short sleeves, including He Ye, who wore a thin shirt.
Looking at the forecast, tomorrow’s maximum temperature will only be 13 degrees, and on Saturday and Sunday, it will drop below 10 degrees.
Feng Qiuyu remarked, “It’s still chilly in spring. I’ll have to keep the summer clothes I just bought for a while longer.”
He Ye quietly tidied her desk, and when she saw Lu Jin getting up, she left her workstation too.
Since it was rush hour and raining, they decided to go home and cook together.
Lu Jin cooked in the kitchen while He Ye went to the master bedroom to grab a thick coat covered with a dust bag and a cotton sweater.
After cleaning up, she returned to the dining room.
Lu Jin asked from the kitchen, “What were you doing?”
He Ye replied, “Packing your clothes. Wear more tomorrow.”
Lu Jin looked at her.
He Ye was wearing a light blue casual shirt with one button undone, revealing her beautiful collarbone.
The thin fabric was soft, falling naturally and outlining her smooth shoulders and curves.
When Lu Jin picked up his girlfriend in the morning, he glanced at her several times.
He wasn’t trying to hide it, and He Ye noticed each time.
Now, Lu Jin was looking again, and He Ye glared back at him, buttoning up the loose button the moment he turned around.
Dinner was ready, and when Lu Jin brought it out, he noticed the slight change in his girlfriend’s shirt.
He asked, “Are you cold?”
He Ye’s face turned red at his concern. She took the chopsticks and ignored him.
After dinner, while Lu Jin washed the dishes, He Ye went back to the master bedroom, closed the door, and washed her face and brushed her teeth in preparation.
Kissing had become a daily routine in their relationship, so she wanted to be fully ready.
Once she finished, He Ye sat on the sofa and picked a movie to watch.
Lu Jin walked out of the kitchen, went to the public bathroom, and when He Ye still hadn’t chosen a movie, she heard him turn on the faucet.
A few minutes later, Lu Jin came out, walked past He Ye as if nothing had happened, closed the balcony curtains, and sat next to her.
The temperature outside was dropping, while the light inside was warm and bright.
Soon, the movie became background noise as He Ye found herself back in her boyfriend’s lap.
Perhaps because of the clothes she wore, Lu Jin’s self-control was weaker that night, and his fingers accidentally brushed her shirt buttons.
Each time he touched a button, He Ye’s heart raced.
Six years had made Lu Jin more restrained and patient, but He Ye hadn’t changed much; she could still be easily flustered by him.
She couldn’t stand it like this. She either needed to act a bit worse or try to control herself more. It was torturous for her.
He Ye grabbed Lu Jin’s hand as he played with her fourth button again.
Lu Jin whispered in He Ye’s ear, “I don’t want it.”
He Ye gritted her teeth and replied, “Then don’t move.”
Lu Jin responded by kissing her from her ear to her neck. After kissing, he placed his hand on the side of her neck and asked, “Why is it so hot?”
He Ye thought to herself that this kind of kissing always makes the heart race and body temperature rise. What was different this time?
Lu Jin didn’t explain the difference; he just said, “This one can be unlocked.”
As he spoke, he helped her unbutton the first button of her shirt, loosening the collar and revealing more of He Ye’s skin. He pressed his forehead against her chin and kissed her collarbone.
That night, he didn’t go under her shirt, but he did loosen her collar with his nose.
After Lu Jin left, He Ye looked in the mirror and saw a bright red mark on her skin above her underwear.
On Friday night, the indoor temperature was only ten degrees Celsius. He Ye took out her winter down quilt. Since Lu Jin was leaving around eight o’clock, she reminded him to cover himself with a thicker duvet that night.
Standing outside her door, Lu Jin nodded at her reminder. He Ye felt he actually didn’t want to leave.
However, whenever he left, he always had a similar look in his eyes. What’s worse, he looked at her the same way when they were together.
Without a special reason, He Ye found it hard to speak.
Lu Jin helped her close the door from outside, and she heard his footsteps leaving.
Once she guessed that he was in the elevator, she went to the balcony.
Outside, the rain and wind blew against the window. The community was dimly lit, with a few streetlights and pedestrians rushing by with umbrellas.
It would be much better if Lu Jin drove.
He Ye turned off the lights in the living room and went to the master bedroom.
Even in thick pajamas, she felt cold and didn’t want to turn on the air conditioner. So, she climbed into bed early.
Suddenly, the wind picked up, and the rain pelted the window, making the room feel cold and empty.
He Ye texted her boyfriend: [Are you home yet?]
Lu Jin replied with a photo of his spacious living room.
The cold black, white, and gray tones made He Ye feel even colder on a night like this.
A minute later, Lu Jin sent another photo of his dark gray master bedroom. A picture of He Ye in Hanfu on the bedside table was the only color that stood out.
He Ye was genuinely confused: [Why would you choose this kind of decoration?]
Lu Jin replied: [This is more in line with my temperament.]
He Ye wanted to hear his boastful explanation: [What temperament?]
He replied: [The temperament of being dumped by a girlfriend.]
He Ye was speechless: [……]
Lu Jin then asked: [Sleep?]
He Ye answered: [I’ve already crawled into bed. It’s too cold. I don’t want to do anything.]
Lu Jin asked: [Is the duvet warm?]
He Ye replied: [Well, have you taken out yours?]
Lu Jin said: [I’m not as afraid of the cold as you are. I won’t change.]
He Ye warned: [Be careful not to catch a cold.]
Lu Jin responded: [My resistance is not that bad.]
He Ye teased: […Just be brave, if you really catch a cold, don’t even think about kissing me.]
Lu Jin replied: [No, I’ll come find you when I’m done.]
He Ye replied: […You’d rather not kiss than change the quilt, right?]
Lu Jin confirmed: [Yes.]
He Ye said: [Whatever you say, I’m going to sleep!]
Lu Jin wished her: [Good night.]
He Ye put her phone on the bedside table, annoyed, turned off the lights, and went to sleep.
After lying in the dark for a while and listening to the rain, He Ye reached for her phone. Only nine minutes had passed.
She bit her lip, scrolled through social media for another half hour, and sent a message to Lu Jin: [Have you changed the quilt?]
A photo came back immediately, showing the same gray bed from a different angle.
He Ye texted: [You can turn on the air conditioner.]
Lu Jin replied: [The floor heating[1]is a system that warms the floor of a room, providing comfort in cold weather. is on.]
He Ye was frustrated: [……]
Lu Jin asked: [Would you like to come over? It’s only 9:30; you can read a book or watch a show.]
He Ye replied: [No.]
Lu Jin insisted: [I can pick you up. You can spend the weekend at my place. Otherwise, I’m afraid you’ll catch a cold at home.]
He Ye didn’t reply.
Lu Jin continued: [Should I come over now?]
He Ye hesitated and finally replied: [Then wouldn’t it be a waste to take out my duvet?]
Lu Jin offered: [I can help you put it away again.]
He Ye was convinced.
About ten minutes later, He Ye, wearing a thick coat, opened the door for Lu Jin in her cold living room.
Lu Jin, who had run over in the middle of the night, looked lively, with dark eyes shining brightly.
He stepped in and asked if he should help collect the quilt.
He Ye glared at him but nodded.
Lu Jin smiled and led her to the master bedroom. He looked inside and gave her a meaningful glance.
He Ye pushed him inside, thinking there was nothing for him to see that she hadn’t already put away.
As Lu Jin folded the duvet and placed it in a storage bag, He Ye leaned against the door, watching him like a supervisor.
Holding the bag, Lu Jin looked at her closet.
He Ye told him: “Just put it on the bed, I’ll put it away when I get back.”
She pointed to a small suitcase next to her, which held clothes she planned to wear that weekend, along with a notebook, phone charging cable, and professional books.
Lu Jin picked up his girlfriend’s suitcase like a waiter and followed her out the door.
In the elevator, he held the suitcase in one hand and her hand in the other. His hands were big, long, and warm. Even though He Ye was bundled up, she felt a bit cold after getting out of bed. She enjoyed his warmth.
When they reached the underground garage, He Ye got in the car first, and Lu Jin stored the suitcase before getting into the driver’s seat. As the Panamera drove out, heavy rain suddenly fell, startling He Ye. She looked at Lu Jin, who had a sly smile.
He Ye said, “You look very happy.”
Lu Jin replied, “I am very happy.”
He Ye teased, “I came for the floor heating, not for you.”
Lu Jin joked, “I’m happy about the floor heating at my home.”
She couldn’t help but playfully hit him.
With her as a passenger, the cold rain outside seemed less gloomy. The raindrops hitting the windshield looked like they were dancing.
The Panamera made a few turns and soon entered the underground garage of Wangchao Mansion. Lu Jin led He Ye to the elevator, taking them to the 16th floor.
After unlocking the door, he wanted to help her enter her fingerprint but she hesitated, saying, “Isn’t it unnecessary? You won’t be here often.”
Lu Jin smiled and said, “The door lock welcomes you to come often.”
He Ye looked at him, then he guided her hand to register her fingerprint.
The lights were still on from before, and even though the decor was cold in black, white, and gray, He Ye felt more at ease with Lu Jin’s presence, appreciating the unique beauty of it.
Lu Jin took her to the guest room, which had a girly bedding set he bought.
Curious, He Ye asked, “Did your grandma stay here?”
Lu Jin confirmed, “Yes, if you mind, you can sleep with me in the master bedroom.”
He Ye blushed, closed the door, and locked it.
The guest room was warm due to the floor heating, but the dark colors made He Ye a bit anxious, especially with the heavy rain outside.
Unable to take it anymore, she opened the door and messaged Lu Jin: [Come over here.]
Soon, she heard his footsteps, and he knocked politely.
He Ye said from the bed, “Come in.”
Lu Jin pushed the door open, saw the quilt, and recognized the slight bump under it as He Ye.
He asked, “Is something wrong? Are you not comfortable?”
She replied, “Not comfortable.”
Lu Jin mentioned, “It’s fine with the lights off. Qin Yi has stayed here before without issue.”
He Ye said, “It’s a psychological effect. He doesn’t watch as many scary movies as I do.”
After a moment, Lu Jin offered, “Should I take you back?”
He Ye was silent for a moment, then asked, “Do you really think so?”
Lu Jin quickly said, “No.”
She asked, “What do you want?”
Lu Jin replied, “I want to sleep with you.”
He Ye said, “Then get a pillow.”
Lu Jin stayed put, and when He Ye wondered if he was hesitating again, he walked toward the bed.
She grew nervous as he lifted the quilt.
He Ye, wearing bear-patterned pajamas, felt embarrassed and tried to pull the quilt back.
“Come to my side,” Lu Jin said, grabbing her wrist and pulling her close. “My bed is bigger.”
He Ye buried her head in his chest until her heart rate slowed. Just as she was about to agree, he called her name, “He Ye.”
Her eyelashes fluttered.
Lu Jin said softly, “I promise I won’t touch your pajamas tonight. Do you still want me to stay?”
He Ye hesitated.
