Chapter 2: The Mysterious Bracelet Space Appears

“Fine, Hu Zhaodi it is then!”

Since she had borrowed Hu Zhaodi’s body, she might as well use her identity to help her seek revenge. Afterward, she’d think of a way to return to her original world.

For now, though, her grandmother—an old hag—had taken a good beating from her. If she went back to the Hu family, she might not live to see the sunrise tomorrow.

The most pressing matter was finding a temporary place to stay.

After all, she was a descendant of a family renowned for its expertise in ancient martial arts and medicine. She wouldn’t starve to death no matter where she went.

Her stomach let out a loud growl. Rubbing her belly, Xiang Xinyao headed deeper into the forested mountains.

After walking for about fifteen minutes, she felt so exhausted that she couldn’t lift her legs. Dizziness blurred her vision, and she could barely walk straight.

This body was far too weak. Worse yet, it suffered from long-term malnutrition. Right now, she was likely experiencing hypoglycemia.

But there was nothing to eat. Without sugar to alleviate the low blood sugar, she might collapse in these backwoods.

At that moment, her left wrist started to feel warm.

She looked down and was instantly stunned, her jaw dropping in disbelief.

The ancient jade bracelet her grandmother had given her in the modern world had traveled with her to this new reality.

This bracelet had an extraordinary origin. Even expert appraisers couldn’t determine the era it came from.

What was certain, however, was that it was made of the finest ancient jade and was of immeasurable value.

While she couldn’t see her parents or grandparents now, having the bracelet with her gave her some comfort.

But why was the bracelet heating up?

This had never happened before.

Raising her right hand, she gently touched the bracelet. Suddenly, before her eyes appeared the image of the convenience store and private hospital she had owned in her previous life.

Xiang Xinyao froze, utterly dumbfounded. Was she hallucinating from hunger?

When she removed her hand, the supermarket and hospital vanished.

When she placed her hand back on the bracelet, the images reappeared.

After several experiments, she confirmed it wasn’t an illusion. Her supermarket and private hospital had indeed traveled with her.

The immense joy almost made Xiang Xinyao burst into wild laughter.

With the supermarket and hospital, she could leave the Hu family and live a prosperous, enviable life.

The supermarket was fully stocked with an array of goods: everyday necessities, snacks, household items, fresh fruits, and vegetables—all in perfect condition.

The store had two floors. The first contained snacks, condiments, cooking oils, grains, and fresh produce.

The second floor housed various daily necessities, even children’s toys.

The third floor of the supermarket was her personal space, with an opulent living room, three bedrooms, a study, and a storage room.

Next to the supermarket stood her private hospital.

Her family legacy lay in traditional Chinese medicine, but she was a prodigy with an exceptional memory. By age twelve, she had begun learning Western medicine.

At the time of her death—struck by lightning at age twenty-six—she was a dual expert in both fields.

The first floor of the hospital had a Western pharmacy on the left and a Chinese pharmacy on the right.

The second floor housed operating rooms and an ICU ward.

The third floor contained rooms for diagnostic equipment like ultrasounds and MRIs.

The fourth and fifth floors were for infusion and observation.

Behind the supermarket and hospital lay vast open fields.

She wasn’t skilled at farming, but the original owner of this body had been!

With her memories, farming would be a breeze.

Once she developed the land, it could yield plenty of fruits, vegetables, and grains.

If she could return to her original world, it would be wonderful. But if not, with this space, she could surely carve out an extraordinary life in this foreign land.

Her stomach growled again. Xiang Xinyao decided to try using her mind to retrieve a piece of chocolate from the supermarket.

The next second, a chocolate bar appeared in her hand.

She quickly tore open the wrapper and stuffed the chocolate into her mouth.

The dizziness caused by hypoglycemia gradually subsided after Xiang Xinyao ate a piece of bread retrieved from the supermarket.

Now that she wasn’t as hungry, Xiang Xinyao decided to take a closer look at her newfound space.

After a few attempts, she discovered that the items she took out of the space would automatically restock. However, she couldn’t figure out a way to enter the space herself.

“Strange, why can’t I go inside?” Xiang Xinyao muttered to herself. “If I can’t enter, how am I supposed to develop the open land and plant crops?”

Oh well, if she couldn’t access it now, she’d figure it out later.

Still, she had to make sure no one from the Hu family saw the bracelet. Otherwise, the consequences would be unimaginable.

As if responding to her thoughts, the bracelet grew warm again and suddenly vanished from her wrist.

When she thought about the bracelet, it reappeared.

Xiang Xinyao’s eyes widened in disbelief.

All it took was a thought, and the bracelet would either hide or show itself according to her wishes.

“Wow, this is a treasure beyond words!”

Bored of the snacks in the space, and already in the mountains, Xiang Xinyao decided to hunt something fresh to roast and satisfy her cravings.

With that thought, she headed deeper into the mountains.

The dense forest was full of poisonous insects and ferocious beasts—places most villagers wouldn’t dare venture.

For Xiang Xinyao, though, despite having lost her martial arts skills upon transmigrating, it wasn’t too difficult to handle.

After walking for a while, she heard rustling from a nearby bush. She picked up a small stone and focused intently on the movement.

Before long, a wild rabbit darted out. With sharp reflexes, Xiang Xinyao hurled the stone like a hidden weapon, hitting the rabbit squarely and knocking it out.

Picking up the rabbit, she walked to a nearby stream to clean it. Then she gathered some dry wood to start a fire and roasted the rabbit by the stream.

Once full, she went back into the forest, hunted another rabbit, and decided to take it back to the Hu family.

Surely, this rabbit would placate them.

After all, the next step in her plan was to make the Hu family pay dearly. She couldn’t let the original owner of this body die in vain.

Arriving at the Hu family’s courtyard, she found it eerily empty.

Just as she was about to push open the door, she heard the shrill voice of her grandmother complaining.

“That little brat Zhaodi has been gone for ages. Maybe she’s dropped dead out there somewhere!”

Then came Hu Dashan’s voice: “Ma, it’d be better if that wretched girl were dead. She’s not even my own flesh and blood.

“If it weren’t for marrying her mother and being childless for three years, we wouldn’t have bought her from the traffickers. Now that we have Yaozu, keeping her here is just a waste of food!”

The old hag shot him a glare. “That little brat may not be your own, but she’s a hard worker! Who else is going to do all the dirty, heavy chores around here?

“She’s already fourteen. We’ve raised her for eleven years; she can’t just die like that. The silver we spent to buy her from the traffickers—we’ve got to get that back!”

Hu Dashan frowned. “But Ma, where would she get silver from?”

“That brat doesn’t have silver, but the village chief does!” the old hag sneered. “The chief’s son has been a cripple since birth and needs constant care. He’s twenty now and still hasn’t found a wife. The chief announced today that any girl willing to marry him will get a dowry of thirty taels of silver.”

Hu Dashan’s eyes lit up at the mention of thirty taels. “If we marry Zhaodi off, we’ll get thirty taels of silver for our family?”

“Exactly! We bought that brat for three taels and raised her for eleven years. Getting thirty taels in return makes it worth it,” the old hag replied venomously.
