Jiang Cheng was amused by Li Chunxiang’s wary little glance.
Since she had already teased her, she might as well continue.
“You knew I was fooling you, so why didn’t you come back to give me trouble?”
Li Chunxiang lifted her head with a hint of pride and said, “What you said made some sense. I’m a high school graduate. Why would I want to steal your job? Besides, it was just a temporary position anyway.”
“I believe I can find something better!”
Jiang Cheng let out a meaningful “Oh” and asked, “So, it seems you’ve found something?”
Li Chunxiang’s proud little neck shortened slightly as she muttered, “Not yet!”
“But it’s fine. I’m learning every day. I just need an opportunity, and I’ll definitely make it!”
It was unclear whether Li Chunxiang was being stubborn or just trying to motivate herself.
However, Jiang Cheng admired her positive attitude.
She waved her hand, and Li Chunxiang instinctively leaned closer.
But as soon as she did, she felt like she was losing face and tried to step back.
“I have some job news.”
Li Chunxiang’s eyes lit up instantly, and her retreating steps turned into an eager approach. She immediately reached out to support Jiang Cheng.
“Quick, sit down! Let me get you some sugar water!”
Li Chunxiang’s enthusiasm made Jiang Cheng shake her head with a faint smile.
Her ability to adapt to the situation was somewhat similar to Jiang Cheng’s own.
Jiang Cheng didn’t stop her.
She sipped the sugar water slowly while Li Chunxiang waited quietly beside her, her eyes filled with anticipation, not rushing her at all.
“Aren’t you in a hurry to ask?”
Li Chunxiang chuckled and said, “Since you’re here, you’ll definitely tell me!”
Jiang Cheng put down the bowl and praised her generously, “Smart.”
“Sit.”
Li Chunxiang sat down, leaning forward eagerly.
“Tomorrow, there’s a recruitment exam at the machinery factory. There are three job openings: the first place gets the accountant position, the second is for a staff member in the publicity department, and the third is for a warehouse record keeper.”
“Which one do you think you could get if you took the exam?”
Li Chunxiang’s eyes sparkled as she held up three fingers and said, “The third one would be fine. I think the first two office jobs are definitely out of my reach.”
Jiang Cheng gave her a thumbs-up and said, “Impressive!”
“It’s already quite good to aim for something within your capabilities. Don’t aim too high.”
“Of course, I’m just giving you the news. Whether you pass or not is up to you.”
“Don’t blame me if you don’t make it.”
Jiang Cheng laid it out plainly, and Li Chunxiang, who was no fool, immediately patted her chest and assured her, “Don’t worry, that’s absolutely impossible!”
“You have no idea, I’ve been looking around for months. I’ve got a pretty good grasp of how these recruitment things work. Most of the time, it’s the children of internal employees who take the exams. Even when there are openings for outsiders, they don’t advertise them widely. Only those with connections know about them.”
Li Chunxiang said a lot, and Jiang Cheng’s impression of her improved even more.
Finally, Jiang Cheng stood up to leave, and Li Chunxiang asked, “Why don’t you take the exam yourself?”
“I already have a job.”
Li Chunxiang was puzzled for a moment but didn’t press further.
Recently, she had spent a lot of time with her sister-in-law, Du Yun, who had spoken highly of Jiang Cheng on many occasions.
“Thank you, Jiang Cheng!”
Jiang Cheng waved her hand and said something quite lofty.
“Li Chunxiang, I’m not just helping you. I’m helping countless other women. If you hadn’t spoken up for your sister-in-law today, I wouldn’t have told you this news.”
Jiang Cheng turned and left, a faint smile on her face.
She loved putting on this noble act!
Behind her, Li Chunxiang stood silently for a long time.
At the same time, He Dan also learned about the machinery factory’s exam the next day from Lin Chengyuan.
She was so excited that she couldn’t sleep and was busy preparing the stationery she would need for the exam.
“I’m sure I’ll pass. I think the accountant position would be great, and the publicity officer would be fine too. The workshop position isn’t as good.”
Lin Chengyuan agreed and chimed in, “The accountant position is the best.”
It also carried the most prestige.
As the couple chatted, it seemed as though the accountant position was already theirs.
Jiang Cheng didn’t know that He Dan was also taking the exam, and even if she did, she wouldn’t be worried.
He Dan’s current level of study was practically at the bottom of the night school class.
Passing the exam would be difficult!
When Jiang Cheng returned to the Shen family, she first helped Shen Xing with his homework and then taught Shen Yue how to paint.
Looking at Shen Yue’s painting, Jiang Cheng felt that she should find a professional art teacher for her.
After all, she was only an amateur.
As for Shen Yue’s academic studies, Jiang Cheng handed that responsibility over to Shen Xing, calling it “consolidating the basics.”
Shen Xing saw right through it and said, “Sis, my basics are already solid! I’m first in my class, and being first means I’m solid!”
Jiang Cheng remained unmoved and patted Shen Xing’s shoulder, saying, “Xingxing, think about it. Being first in your class means there’s no challenge in your studies. Isn’t that boring? This is a perfect opportunity.”
“Imagine if you could tutor Yueyue to be first in her class.”
Shen Xing picked up his textbook and stood up, cutting off Jiang Cheng before she could finish.
“Sis, I feel like I’m going to be convinced by you sooner or later. I might as well go now!”
Jiang Cheng: The growth of children fills me with joy.
Shen Xing spent an hour teaching five Chinese characters, but by the time he tested Shen Yue on the second one, she had forgotten the first. By the third, she had forgotten the first two.
Shen Xing was on the verge of tears, teetering on the edge of a breakdown.
“Grandma, I’m going to chop firewood!”
Shen Xing couldn’t take it anymore and ran off.
Grabbing a small axe, he went to the yard and started chopping firewood with a vengeance.
His frustration turned into brute force, and the results were surprisingly effective.
Grandma Shen saw through it but didn’t say anything, commenting, “This is good too. The firewood has been just the right size lately, perfect for burning.”
But it was strange. When it came to painting, Shen Yue could remember everything Jiang Cheng taught her after just one explanation. But when it came to studying, her mind seemed to fill with water.
Everything was washed away in an instant.
Grandma Shen glanced at Jiang Cheng’s closed door and shook her head with a smile.
This was probably the first time Jiang Cheng had retreated without a fight, a testament to Shen Yue’s destructive power.
Dinner was eaten by the three members of the Shen family together, while Jiang Cheng stayed in her room translating.
She rested on time and woke up on time.
After getting up, Jiang Cheng continued translating her documents.
Before leaving, she checked everything twice to make sure nothing was missing, then set off for the machinery factory.
Today, she planned to have breakfast at the factory.
At 9 a.m., while Jiang Cheng was working, Li Chunxiang and He Dan arrived at the machinery factory along with thirteen other candidates to take the recruitment exam.
The exam would select the top three candidates for the available positions.
The results would be posted the same day, making the process highly efficient.
He Dan was momentarily surprised when she saw Li Chunxiang, but her expression quickly turned to disdain.
Li Chunxiang didn’t want to cause trouble. Getting kicked out for arguing wouldn’t be worth it.
Someone like He Dan deserved to be dealt with by her mother.
An hour later, the exam ended.
Everyone waited outside for the results.
Soon, someone came out with the list and posted it on the wall by the entrance.
Li Chunxiang, He Dan, and the others all crowded around.
“Me! First place!”
“What’s going on? I only got sixth.”
“Never mind, it was just a try anyway.”
Li Chunxiang finally squeezed to the front. First place wasn’t her, second place wasn’t her, third place…
“Great! I’m third!”
“How is this possible? How could my name not be on the list!”
