Chapter 9: The Location of the Countryside
Wang Zhaodi remembered this grudge and vowed to make Su An’s life difficult in the future.
However, Su An didn’t take her seriously. She could handle the weirdos in the Su family, let alone someone like Wang Zhaodi.
Sun Xinxin lost her appetite because Wang Zhaodi had touched her lunchbox, so she shared it with other educated youths traveling with her.
Sun Xinxin was a bit of a germaphobe, but most educated youths weren’t. Who could dislike meat?
Of course, except for Su An. Looking at Wang Zhaodi’s big yellow teeth, she couldn’t eat anything that had touched her saliva.
Although Sun Xinxin didn’t eat, she took out a pack of biscuits from her bag.
Please have some.
Su An wasn’t polite. Thank you.
Sun Xinxin whispered, I should be the one thanking you.
She was grateful to Su An for speaking up for her. Seeing Su An’s cool and arrogant look, Sun Xinxin almost became her fan girl.
Su An noticed Sun Xinxin’s intense gaze. Although she admitted she was good-looking, she wasn’t a lesbian and had no interest in women.
The train continued its journey. Su An looked out at the scenery while the other educated youths chatted.
She wondered if the drama with Su Guohua and Chen Aimei had begun.
Back in Beijing, at the Su family’s house.
Su Guohua and Chen Aimei had just sent Su Qiang away and were taken away by the police for questioning.
Wang Dafa had surrendered and confessed to human trafficking with Su Guohua and Chen Aimei.
Before Su An left, she had also left a letter of complaint, reporting that Su Guohua and Chen Aimei wanted to sell her.
Su Guohua and Chen Aimei were shocked. Was Wang Dafa crazy? Why did he turn himself in?
In fact, Wang Dafa had no choice.
Su An had snuck into his house at night, beaten him up, and drugged him. If he didn’t turn himself in and confess, he would have died from the poison in a month without the antidote.
Wang Dafa valued his life more than going to jail.
He had to surrender to the police.
During the police investigation, Su Guohua and Chen Aimei were tortured and interrogated, and finally confessed.
They were arrested and imprisoned, but that’s a story for later.
Su An took a train for a day and a night and finally arrived at her destination.
She got off the train with her luggage.
Sun Xinxin followed Su An like a little follower.
Knowing they were going to the same place, Sun Xinxin was excited. It would be great if they were assigned to the same team, but she didn’t know if they would be so lucky.
Seeing that Su An was carrying a bigger and heavier package than hers and walking briskly, Sun Xinxin admired her even more.
Sun Xinxin was struggling with her luggage.
But she gritted her teeth and followed Su An.
Wang Zhaodi felt her luggage was heavy, but she had to carry it. Her family was poor, so they took what they could and were reluctant to buy her new ones.
Comparing her situation with Sun Xinxin’s, Wang Zhaodi felt a pang of jealousy.
Su An turned around and saw Sun Xinxin, sweating and struggling to keep up.
Do you want help? I can carry some.
Sun Xinxin looked at Su An gratefully, but waved her hand. No, you have carried a lot of luggage yourself. I can carry it myself.
It’s okay. I’m strong. I can help you carry one.
Su An took Sun Xinxin’s largest package. She didn’t know what was in it, but it was heavy.
If Su An hadn’t had her supernatural powers, she wouldn’t have been able to carry it.
Seeing Su An’s kindness, Sun Xinxin looked at her with gratitude.
Wang Zhaodi felt uncomfortable seeing Su An help Sun Xinxin but not her. She said to Su An with a thick face,
Su An, since we are all educated youths going to the countryside, and you are so strong, why don’t you help me? I have too many things and can’t carry them all.
But Su An ignored her. You can carry your own things. Why do you need me? Am I your mother?
Wang Zhaodi’s face turned red. Su An ignored her, carrying her own things and walking briskly.
Sun Xinxin, relieved of some weight, quickly caught up with Su An.
After leaving the station, the Qingshui County Educated Youth Office came to pick them up.
They went from the city to the county.
After all the trouble, the educated youths were exhausted.
Upon arriving in Qingshui County, the Youth Office began to arrange their destinations.
As luck would have it, Su An, Sun Xinxin, and Wang Zhaodi were all assigned to the Yutou Village Production Team, Longgang Commune, Qingshui County.
Sun Xinxin was happy to be in the same production team as Su An.
Su An was the only person who had shown her kindness after knowing her identity.
The only thing that made Sun Xinxin unhappy was that Wang Zhaodi was also assigned to the same team.
It was a mixed bag, but overall Sun Xinxin was still happy.
Besides the three female educated youths, a male educated youth was also assigned to the same place.
His name was Chen Jianguo, and he seemed like a good person, not a weirdo.
After the educated youths were assigned, someone would pick them up and take them to their production teams.
The Yutou Village Production Team had also sent someone.
The person who arrived was a man in his forties, Wang Weihua, the team leader of the Yutou Village Production Team.
He saw that three female educated youths were assigned to their team and had a headache.
These educated youths from the city weren’t capable to begin with, let alone the female ones, who were too delicate to do any work.
Although he despised them, Wang Weihua still greeted them. I am Wang Weihua, the team leader of the Yutou Village Production Team.
Just follow me. By the way, this is your subsidy for going to the countryside, 50 yuan per person.
You can buy some things in the county town and bring them back. It will be inconvenient to wait until you come to the county town again.
He handed each educated youth their 50 yuan subsidy.
Su An took her share and thanked Wang Weihua. Uncle Captain, thank you. I need to go buy some things. Please wait for me.
Wang Weihua was impressed by Su An’s politeness.
Many female educated youths from the city had a condescending attitude and looked down on country people.
