Chapter 100: It Is Very Likely That He Will Be Replaced in College
If there are many people with the same surname, it’s normal for their names to overlap.
Xu Xueyou’s first reaction was that their names were a coincidence.
However, the Jiang sisters knew their town well there weren’t many people with the surname Jiang, maybe only a couple of dozen.
There certainly weren’t multiple people with the exact same name.
This comrade,” Jiang Mingyue suddenly felt a flutter of hope mixed with apprehension.
Her hands trembled slightly as she carefully described Jiang Meixin’s appearance and characteristics to Xu Xueyou.
His eyes lit up in recognition. “Do you know Mingyue?”
Jiang Mingyue took a deep breath. “Can I invite you to sit at our house?”
No matter whether her suspicions were correct or not, she needed to find out.
Xu Xueyou was a bit taken aback by her reaction but nodded, willing to go home with the Jiang sisters.
Jiang Mingyue asked Jiang Xinyue for support as she stood. “Sister, Xinyue and I will go back first. You keep an eye on the stall for a while, and we’ll pick you up.”
Okay, it’s fine. You go back first. Just be careful, and pay attention to the child in your belly,” Jiang Meiyue said, sensing something was off.
Xinyue, keep an eye on your second sister,” she added firmly.
Don’t worry, eldest sister,” Jiang Xinyue assured her.
Supporting Jiang Mingyue, they made their way home. On their way, they encountered Gu Dongqing, returning from work. He immediately noticed Jiang Mingyue’s pale face.
Without a second thought, he stepped forward, wrapping an arm around her protectively. “What’s wrong, baby? Don’t be afraid; we’re going to the hospital right now.”
No, Jiang Mingyue shook her head gently. “I’m fine.
She was aware of her body and tried to control her emotions. Great sorrow or joy could be harmful during pregnancy.
I’m fine,” she repeated, taking a deep breath to calm herself. She looked at Xu Xueyou and explained, “He’s a student from Nanjing University and came to see his classmate.”
Huh?” Gu Dongqing raised an eyebrow, puzzled.
His classmate’s name is Jiang Mingyue,” Jiang Mingyue continued, holding Gu Dongqing’s fingers tightly. “The Jiang Mingyue he mentioned is my cousin, Jiang Meixin.”
Gu Dongqing’s expression shifted as he started to connect the dots. “Are you saying Jiang Meixin used your name to enroll in college?”
Jiang Mingyue nodded with a sense of urgency.
Jiang Xinyue, filled with indignation, exclaimed, “What? Is that brat Jiang Meixin pretending to be my second sister? How could she get into college when her grades were obviously worse than yours?”
Xu Xueyou looked confused. “What do you mean? Is Jiang Meixin pretending to go to college?”
Jiang Xinyue couldn’t contain her frustration. “Yes! There’s only one Jiang Mingyue in Tonglin Town, and that’s my second sister here!”
Xu Xueyou was taken aback. “Are you saying that Jiang Meixin is pretending to be her?”
Exactly! The admission score for Nanjing University is high. My sister used to score above 90 in every subject. If Jiang Meixin could get in, how could she have done it with scores in the 70s or 80s?”
Jiang Mingyue had thought that last year’s admission notice was just a result of her poor performance.
Her family had considered having her repeat the year, but they had focused on Jiang Xinyue’s education instead due to their limited resources.
No one had suspected that the notice might have been intercepted.
If Xu Xueyou hadn’t appeared, they might never have connected the dots.
But now that they had a lead, they would pursue it. If it turned out to be a misunderstanding, that was one thing, but if Jiang Meixin had truly intercepted the admission notice, they wouldn’t let it slide.
Upon returning home, Gu Dongqing helped Jiang Mingyue to their room to rest. “Wife, don’t worry. I’ll handle this matter. I promise to uncover the truth.”
His tone was reassuring, meant to calm her worries. He was concerned she might become too emotional, which could harm her and the baby.
Okay, she agreed, trusting him.
Don’t worry about me. Just go and investigate,” she said, knowing she could manage her emotions.
Gu Dongqing kissed her forehead gently. “So good.”
In the main room, Jiang Xinyue poured a glass of water for Xu Xueyou. She sat across from him and started asking about Jiang Mingyue’s personality and hobbies.
Xu Xueyou was honest, sharing everything he knew about Jiang Mingyue.
She’s just like me, a student in the School of Liberal Arts…
As he spoke, the sisters gradually realized that Jiang Meixin might be pregnant too. Jiang Mingyue recalled seeing a familiar figure during her last prenatal check-up.
Suddenly, a thought struck her. “Brother Dong, should we take Comrade Xu back to the village to check?”
If they wanted to confirm whether Xu Xueyou was indeed looking for Jiang Meixin, it made sense for him to see her in person.
Xu Xueyou, although he liked Jiang Mingyue, was also principled. He would naturally want to address any potential wrongdoing regarding the impersonation.
Let’s go, Gu Dongqing agreed. “Wife, you and Xinyue stay here. I’ll take Xu to check it out.”
After saying that, Gu Dongqing rode his bicycle with Xu Xueyou, heading toward Qianjin Village.
