Chapter 15: What Will She Do After Getting Married?
Before Jiang Mingyue could answer, Gu Dongqing suddenly bent down and whispered in her ear,
Then you, who try every means to plot against the Dong family, are you a good person or a bad person?”
“Gu Dongqing!”
Jiang Mingyue was startled by his sudden closeness. She instinctively raised her hands to cover her ears and took a step back, her cheeks flushing with anger.
The redness was a physiological reaction, and her anger was genuine.
Gu Dongqing clicked his tongue.
You’ve already been married, why are you still so innocent?
Jiang Mingyue glared at him, pursed her lips, and walked towards home.
Gu Dongqing thought, “Okay, I said the wrong thing again and made her angry.”
But despite that, he found Jiang Mingyue’s easy anger, her emotions and sorrows openly displayed on her face, much more lively and attractive than when she was pretending to be strong.
He felt a pang of sympathy and wanted to help her.
As soon as this thought crossed his mind, he blurted out, “Jiang Mingyue, let’s talk.”
“I have nothing to say to you.”
“Where is the Dong family?”
Gu Dongqing brought up the topic.
Jiang Mingyue’s footsteps did stop.
Ten minutes later, by the river far from the Jiang family, Jiang Mingyue stopped under a bamboo forest and looked back at the man behind her.
“Tell me.”
“What?”
Gu Dongqing raised an eyebrow, looking at her.
Jiang Mingyue turned and walked away.
Hey, don’t worry.” Gu Dongqing grabbed her wrist, desperate to stop her.
Her slender wrist, smooth skin the feeling was strangely familiar.
For a moment, he felt as if he was transported back into a dream.
“Let go.”
Jiang Mingyue struggled to break free.
Gu Dongqing snapped out of it, immediately releasing her wrist and taking two steps back, keeping his distance.
I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to offend you. I just wanted to keep you.”
His apology was sincere. His reaction had been subconscious, and he had no intention of taking advantage of her.
Jiang Mingyue turned her right wrist with her left hand, remaining silent, but she didn’t leave either.
Gu Dongqing quickly said, “Did you know that Dong Jianguo is involved with another woman?”
He genuinely wanted to help her, not to tease her. When he needed to be serious, his attitude was unwavering.
Jiang Mingyue shifted her gaze from the river. “He has two lovers.”
“You know?”
I don’t know where they live, and I don’t know them.
In her previous life, she had been trapped in the Dong family and couldn’t leave, so she had heard Duan Ping’s complaints but never seen these women.
“It’s okay, I can help you find them.”
“Really?”
Jiang Mingyue finally met Gu Dongqing’s eyes, having been looking elsewhere. “Why are you helping me?”
“Uh…” Gu Dongqing pinched his chin with his thumb, pondering for a moment. “Because I want to know what Duan Ping did to me.”
Jiang Mingyue was confused.
This was a matter between Gu Dongqing and Duan Ping, not her concern.
The two chatted by the river for a while. Jiang Mingyue shared everything she could and should tell him.
As for what she couldn’t say, she remained silent.
Gu Dongqing wasn’t stupid either. He could sense her wariness.
He smiled casually and asked calmly, “Jiang Mingyue, when we get to Dong’s house, can you tell me the reason?”
Jiang Mingyue turned and walked towards home.
“This matter has nothing to do with you.”
Tsk, Jiang Mingyue, don’t be so ruthless. After all, we’re in the same boat now, right?”
Gu Dongqing, with his long legs, caught up with her in two steps. They walked together.
After a few steps, they heard a delicate female voice coming from the bamboo forest in front of them.
Oh, don’t be so impatient. It’s not like I won’t give it to you.
Another man’s voice followed immediately. “Can I not be impatient? How long have I been waiting?”
The man’s voice was muffled, as if something was in his mouth.
Jiang Mingyue frowned slightly, recognizing the two figures behind the bamboo forest.
She continued walking.
“Hey.”
Gu Dongqing grabbed her wrist, and before she could react, he covered her mouth with his hand, silencing her.
He half-hugged, half-dragged her to a more secluded spot.
Once he was sure the people behind the bamboo wouldn’t notice them, he released her, lowering his voice. “Let me tell you, don’t just walk over there without knowing what they’re doing. Aren’t you afraid of getting caught?”
Jiang Mingyue, initially annoyed by Gu Dongqing’s touch, was distracted by his words.
“Getting caught?”
She frowned in confusion. “Why would I get caught?”
“I…”
Gu Dongqing wasn’t sure if she was pretending to be naive or genuinely clueless.
They were clearly having an affair in the woods. How could she, a married and divorced woman, act so innocent?
Gu Dongqing took a deep breath, then lowered his gaze and explained, During the days you were married to Dong Chengcai, didn’t he do this to you?”
“What did he do to me?”
Jiang Mingyue genuinely didn’t understand.
But then, as the sounds from the couple behind the bamboo grew louder, she slowly began to grasp the situation.
Her fair cheeks turned crimson.
She covered her ears with her hands, her eyes wide with shock.
Though Jiang Mingyue claimed to have lived two lives, and the ghost of her previous life had been trapped in the Dong family for years, she had never witnessed such a scene.
Her knowledge was limited to the confines of a room and a bed.
And her memory of those moments wasn’t clear either.
On her wedding night, she had been drugged, and her consciousness was clouded. She couldn’t recall any happiness, only the excruciating pain.
The woman’s voice was exaggerated, as if she was enjoying herself. What was the point of this?
Despite her blushing cheeks, Jiang Mingyue remained a serious person. When she encountered something she didn’t understand, she wanted to understand it.
As the woman’s screams grew louder, Jiang Mingyue couldn’t take it anymore.
She stood up and walked away.
Throughout her life, besides caring for her grandparents and sisters, she had also carried her children in her womb.
She didn’t want to experience the intimate moments of others, and there was no need for further explanation.
This brief interruption was a waste of time; she had better go home and work.
“Hey, Jiang Mingyue.”
Gu Dongqing felt nauseous listening to the woman’s artificial moans.
Seeing Jiang Mingyue leave, he naturally stood up and chased after her.
“Do you know any other ways?”
To alleviate the awkwardness, Gu Dongqing deliberately brought up a topic.
As he spoke, he observed Jiang Mingyue’s reaction. He noticed that her expression was calm, except for the pink hue on her cheeks.
This intrigued him.
Jiang Mingyue walked away from the river, following the path around the bamboo forest.
As they neared home, she suddenly remembered the man and woman, recognizing them.
She knew who they were!
