Chapter 3 – Fu Yanci, Sign the Papers!

Jiang Ze was momentarily stunned.

Because he knew Fu Yanci didn’t like her, Ruan Liuzheng rarely took the initiative to approach him.

Even though they worked in the same building.

And when she did come by, she would simply hand documents to Jiang Ze and leave immediately, afraid that lingering would upset Fu Yanci.

Ruan Liuzheng loved him cautiously.

So when Jiang Ze heard that she was asking to see Fu Yanci, he was extremely surprised.

Still, as a top-tier assistant selected through a rigorous process, he quickly composed himself and returned to professional form.

With a formulaic smile, he said, “President Fu is in. Vice Director Ruan, please wait a moment while I check with him.”

Normally, Ruan Liuzheng would’ve stood there and waited for Fu Yanci’s approval. But this time, she shook her head. “No need. I’m here on personal business.”

With that, she walked straight toward the president’s office.

They were about to get divorced anyway—this would likely be her last time seeking him out. So why should she keep enduring things?

Couldn’t she be entitled, just this once, to exercise her rights as a wife?

In five years of marriage, she had never once acted willfully.

Before Jiang Ze could stop her, Ruan Liuzheng pushed open the door to the office—and the scene inside truly opened her eyes.

She saw—

Fu Yanci and Bai Wanqing sprawled on the sofa, bodies tightly pressed together, locked in a passionate kiss.

And it was her on top of him!

They were so engrossed in their kiss that they didn’t even notice the door opening.

Standing at the threshold, Ruan Liuzheng looked at the two of them, and to her own surprise, felt nothing at all. Not even a ripple.

A phrase suddenly surfaced in her mind: “The absence of emotion marks the beginning of goodbye. To break is to rebuild. This is the final lesson I give myself.”

It turned out that giving up had always left traces—she had just never paid attention.

She raised a hand to stop Jiang Ze from speaking and gave him a look that told him to leave.

What was about to happen was private. She didn’t want any outsiders present.

Jiang Ze pursed his lips. His rational side told him to warn President Fu before things got worse…

But—forget it. Family matters weren’t his to meddle in.

Besides, Ruan Liuzheng loved Fu Yanci so deeply. There was no way she would actually divorce him.

Why stick his nose into it?

He gave Ruan Liuzheng a nod and silently left the office.

She watched him go, waiting until he had completely disappeared from view. Then she turned, knocked on the door frame, and said coldly to the two still on the couch:

“Fu Yanci, that’s enough. Don’t forget—you’re a married man.”

Hearing her voice, the pair didn’t stop. As if to spite her, their kissing grew even more intense.

Ruan Liuzheng’s face turned icy. Her patience was rapidly wearing thin.

After a long moment, she sneered, walked over to a single armchair, sat down, and calmly opened the video recording function on her phone.

Crossing her legs, she said nonchalantly, “If you’re aiming for tomorrow’s trending headlines, then by all means, go ahead.”

At those words, Bai Wanqing immediately sat up, covering her face and retreating in panic behind Fu Yanci, looking utterly aggrieved.

Fu Yanci, in contrast, sat up slowly and stared coldly at Ruan Liuzheng with a look of deep annoyance.

He spoke, his voice full of icy contempt: “Ruan Liuzheng, who gave you permission to enter? Are the company rules just decoration to you?”

Ruan Liuzheng paused briefly, then slowly put away her phone. The corners of her lips curved into a bitter, mocking smile.

Five years. For five years, as his wife, she’d had to follow formal procedures just to visit her husband’s office.

Fu Yanci was truly heartless.

And yet, toward others—he showed such tolerance.

She lifted her eyes and shot a sarcastic glance at Bai Wanqing behind him. Her laugh was cold.

“As the president’s wife of the Fu Group, I don’t have the right to be here?”

Fu Yanci went silent, pressing his lips together. His handsome face darkened. “Why are you here?”

His irritation was barely hidden. He might as well have told her to get lost.

Ruan Liuzheng’s expression didn’t change. She no longer cared about his attitude.

“I have a personal matter to discuss. Kindly ask any unrelated people to leave,” she said indifferently.

Fu Yanci scoffed, pulled Bai Wanqing closer by the waist, and said with complete entitlement, “Whatever it is, say it. Wanqing is like a sister to me—not an outsider.”

At his side, Bai Wanqing blushed and leaned coyly into his arms, her eyes brimming with smug satisfaction.

She murmured, “Yanci-ge…”

Fu Yanci’s grip on her waist tightened, shielding her like a prize. His male ego was clearly enjoying it.

Lifting his chin arrogantly, he looked down at Ruan Liuzheng, expecting her to give in.

After all, she loved him so much.

But Ruan Liuzheng didn’t argue. She didn’t cry, beg, or retreat. She simply… laughed.

A cold, ironic laugh.

This scene—how familiar it was. Once upon a time, Fu Yanci had defended her this way in front of Bai Wanqing.

The emotions she had felt then, the gratitude—now, it all just felt sickening.

Taking a deep breath, she said, her tone chilled, “You’re sure you want her to stay?”

Divorce wasn’t something she needed to keep secret. But she didn’t want Bai Wanqing to celebrate too soon.

Let her have this petty moment of revenge.

After all, Bai Wanqing seemed to be enjoying her role as the mistress just fine.

Ruan Liuzheng casually spun her phone in her hand, casting a meaningful look at Bai Wanqing—full of silent threat.

If Fu Yanci wouldn’t cooperate, she could always turn to someone with more to lose.

Bai Wanqing stiffened. She instantly understood what Ruan Liuzheng meant.

Fu Yanci wasn’t divorced yet. That made her a homewrecker—someone society would scorn.

If the footage got out, all her carefully built reputation would be ruined. She couldn’t let that happen!

Her eyes darkened with hate as she glared at Ruan Liuzheng.

One day, she swore, she would drive Ruan Liuzheng out of Yun City’s high society, just like that wretched mother of hers.

The title of Mrs. Fu—would be hers.

No matter how much hatred she felt, Bai Wanqing kept her expression sweet.

Sniffling softly, she stepped out of Fu Yanci’s arms and said in a gentle, considerate tone:

“Yanci-ge, I’ll head out first. Liu Zheng-jie might have something important to say. I shouldn’t interrupt a husband and wife…”

“Wanqing!”

Fu Yanci reached out to stop her, but Bai Wanqing had already walked to the door. On her way out, she even shed a few pitiful tears.

Her act was transparent—but Fu Yanci, blinded by whatever spell she had cast, actually believed her.

The more pity he felt for Bai Wanqing, the more disgusted he showed toward Ruan Liuzheng.

His voice was dark and threatening. “Are you satisfied now? Whatever you came here for—speak. You have ten minutes.”

Cold and heartless.

Ruan Liuzheng looked at him with a blank expression. She was done playing games.

She pulled out two documents and spoke bluntly:

“This is my resignation letter—and our divorce agreement.

Fu Yanci, if you’re a man, sign them.”
