Chapter 38: She Never Came Back

Half an hour later, Fu Yanci leaned down and gently kissed Bai Wanqing’s hair before reluctantly leaving the hospital.

Bai Wanqing had a soft smile on her lips, her gaze tender as she watched Fu Yanci until the hospital room door closed with a “bang.”

Her expression immediately changed. Her eyes darkened suddenly.

Her slender, fair fingers clenched the bedsheet beneath her with such force that her knuckles turned white.

Ruan Liuzheng!
It was Ruan Liuzheng again. Why was she always haunting her like a ghost that wouldn’t go away?

When would Brother Yanci finally belong to her alone?

Bai Wanqing clenched her teeth. Intense hatred coiled around her like vines, distorting her delicate features.

Suddenly, the hospital room door opened again. A young nurse in a white uniform walked in with a warm smile on her face.

Ever since Bai Wanqing was admitted, she had always acted gently and kindly. Even though she came from a prestigious family, she never looked down on the nurses.

She treated them with respect and grace, so all the on-duty nurses competed to deliver her medicine.

The nurse walked to Bai Wanqing’s bedside as usual and said gently, “Miss Bai, it’s time for your medicine.”

Snapping back to her senses, Bai Wanqing looked up. Her once gentle eyes were now filled with gloom, her entire demeanor transformed.

Her aura turned cold and cruel, sending chills down the nurse’s spine.

The nurse’s smile froze. She instinctively trembled and stammered, “Miss Bai, you…”

“Get out! Who let you in?”

Staring at the nurse’s smiling face, Bai Wanqing could no longer suppress her anger.

Her usually refined and graceful features turned ice-cold. Her deep, dark eyes radiated a sharp, sinister glint as she glared at the nurse.

Like a demon crawling out of hell.

The nurse’s hands trembled, and the medicine scattered onto the floor, but she didn’t even have the mind to pick it up.

She took a deep breath and said, voice shaking with fear, “Miss Bai… then please rest well… I’ll step out now.”

She turned and stumbled toward the door.

The room fell silent once again. Bai Wanqing watched the nurse flee in panic and scoffed coldly, her eyes full of disdain.

If it weren’t to please Brother Yanci, she would never bother pretending with people like that.
Just being touched by them disgusted her.

Just as she was checking the time and preparing to call Fu Yanci, the hospital room door opened again.

Holding her phone, Bai Wanqing’s eyes darkened. In a rage, she grabbed the water cup from the nightstand and hurled it toward the door.

Without even looking up, she snapped coldly, “Don’t you understand human language? Didn’t I tell you to get lost?!”

“Wanqing! What’s going on? Who made you so angry?”

Her mother, Feng Zhuyi, cautiously dodged the flying water cup. She was carrying an elegant insulated lunchbox, and her gentle features bore some resemblance to Bai Wanqing’s.

Her smiling lips slowly flattened. Looking at Bai Wanqing, she said somewhat sternly, “Wanqing, how did I raise you? No matter how angry you are, don’t lose your composure. You’re the heiress of the Bai Group now.”

“Every move you make represents the face of the Bai family.”

Feng Zhuyi walked over and sat by the bed. Though she was a bit upset, her voice remained soft and graceful, like smooth silk brushing the skin, stirring the heart.

Her appearance was elegant — fair skin, watery eyes. Though not stunning at first glance, she had a delicate, pitiful beauty that evoked compassion.

Her figure was still graceful despite her age, thanks to years of pampering, which added an air of nobility.

No wonder Bai Xunan was willing to abandon his wife and child to give her a title.
In the end, it all made sense.

Feng Zhuyi gently helped Bai Wanqing tidy her hair, her lips curled in a light smile, her gaze filled with affection.

Seeing her mother, Bai Wanqing’s anger gradually subsided. She pursed her lips. “Mom, why are you here?”

“To check on you,” Feng Zhuyi replied with a smile.

She glanced around the room and didn’t see the person she expected. Frowning slightly, she asked, “Where’s Yanci? Isn’t he here with you?”

Bai Wanqing lowered her eyes slightly, jealousy flickering beneath.

She replied gloomily, “He went back to the Beishan Villa.”

Feng Zhuyi’s eyes narrowed, brows furrowed. “Wanqing, you still haven’t secured Yanci’s heart? How could you let him—”

“Mom!” Bai Wanqing interrupted, her eyes filling with tears. “No matter how clearly I hint at it, Brother Yanci never talks about divorcing Ruan Liuzheng.”

“It’s gotten worse — Grandpa Fu now wants them to have another child, and Yanci agreed. If Ruan Liuzheng really gets pregnant, won’t I be a hidden woman for life? Mom, please think of a way to help me!”

Bai Wanqing cried anxiously to Feng Zhuyi, her eyes full of unwillingness.

Feng Zhuyi gently patted her daughter’s back in comfort. Her expression darkened as she said, “Wanqing, don’t worry. I’ll make sure you marry into the Fu family.”

“I managed to drive away that low-born Ruan Liuzheng’s mother — I’m sure you can get rid of Ruan Liuzheng too.”

“Besides, Yanci must divorce Ruan Liuzheng. Otherwise…”

Feng Zhuyi’s eyes narrowed slightly as a memory from long ago surfaced. Her expression turned cold.

Bai Wanqing noticed her mother suddenly going silent and asked, confused, “Mom, otherwise what?”

Feng Zhuyi came back to her senses and smiled slightly. She shook her head, but a flash of viciousness flickered in her eyes.

“It’s nothing. Just rest assured — I’ll never let that little tramp Ruan Liuzheng steal what belongs to us!”

Although still unsure, Bai Wanqing trusted her mother.

She nodded firmly. “Mm! Mom, I won’t let you down.”

She had to drive Ruan Liuzheng out of the Fu family.

What her mother could do, she would do too!

Beishan Villa

Fu Yanci stepped into the villa against the cold wind. He handed his coat to a servant and strode toward the master bedroom upstairs, his face stern.

Ruan Liuzheng dared to hurt Zhiqing under his nose. That woman was getting too bold.

Before dealing with everything else, he needed to settle this score with her first.

Fu Yanci flung the bedroom door open, ready to confront her — only to find the room empty.

Strangely, the room felt emptier than he remembered.

The once-cluttered vanity table was now completely bare. Even the bedsheets smelled dusty and moldy, clearly untouched for days.

Fu Yanci’s eyes darkened.

He went downstairs, summoned a servant, and said coldly, “How long has the master bedroom gone uncleaned? What am I paying you people for?”

He sat on the sofa, legs crossed, expressionless, voice like ice.

The servant trembled as she replied, head bowed, “Young Master, you and Madam told us at the beginning that we’re not allowed in the master bedroom without permission. We’re not being lazy, I swear!”

Fu Yanci’s brows twitched.

That rule—Ruan Liuzheng really had said it.

When they first got married, before he truly saw her for who she was, she had repeatedly told him that she didn’t like anyone entering the master bedroom. That was their most private space.

At the time, he’d genuinely cared for her a little.

So, he’d respected her wishes.

Back then, the young master who had never lifted a finger at home would come home every night and help her clean the room.

Now that he thought about it, it felt almost… absurd.

His expression softened slightly.

Then he asked, “Where is Madam?”

The servant hesitated, her voice confused. “After Madam left with the young master last time, she never came back. Young Master, wasn’t she with you?”

She never came back!

That phrase struck him hard.

The hint of warmth on Fu Yanci’s face vanished instantly.

He recalled the video he saw earlier — those two strange men standing beside Ruan Liuzheng…

His chest tightened. His brows furrowed deeply.

A storm was brewing in his eyes.

After a long pause, he took a deep breath and called Jiang Ze.

“Jiang Ze! Within half an hour, I want to know Ruan Liuzheng’s current address!”

His voice was cold as ice, devoid of emotion.

He hung up without waiting for a reply.

Jiang Ze stared at the now-black screen in disbelief, then looked at the mountain of paperwork on his desk.

He sighed helplessly and got up to follow orders.

After what happened today, Jiang Ze was certain — Ruan Liuzheng had truly given up on Mr. Fu.

But judging by Fu Yanci’s tone… it seemed he hadn’t realized it yet.

He just hoped things wouldn’t get too ugly.

Yuelan Huafu

When the doorbell rang, Ruan Liuzheng was discussing dinner plans with her son.

Clearly, Xie Qingcen wouldn’t be coming home tonight, so they had to sort out their meal themselves.

Having grown used to Xie Qingcen’s cooking, neither of them felt like eating the snacks from the stores downstairs.

Ruan Liuzheng glanced toward the door, puzzled. Who would visit at this hour?

But little Fu Jingcheng’s face lit up. He excitedly jumped off his chair and ran to the entrance.

Uncle Xie must be here!
