Infinite Apocalypse: Starting with an Underground Safehouse
Infinite Apocalypse: Starting with an Underground Safehouse Chapter 17

Chapter 17: Client

The new disaster is an earthquake!

A feeling of panic spread from Su Xiao’s chest as she hurriedly leaned against the wall and asked, “Xiao Mo, didn’t you say the safehouse is absolutely safe? How can there be shaking?”

Xiao Mo replied, “The first seven days of the Apocalypse Game come with newbie tips. The safehouse will issue disaster alerts.”

As soon as Xiao Mo finished speaking, the shaking stopped.

It lasted less than five seconds.

Su Xiao realized that although there was a sense of shaking, the safehouse itself had not sustained any damage.

“So, does that mean after seven days, there will be no more disaster alerts?” she asked.

Xiao Mo answered, “After seven days, Blue Star will officially enter the end-of-world era. At that point, the safehouse will no longer give alerts. Survivors will need to observe disasters on their own.”

Su Xiao thought for a moment, then approached the cellar door and asked, “Xiao Mo, is the tip at the cellar exit also a newbie tip?”

Xiao Mo responded, “Yes.”

The tip outside the cellar door still indicated that there were no other survivors within a 50-meter radius, but it didn’t mention whether there were any disasters outside.

Su Xiao opened the door to take a look. The outside was very calm, meaning the earthquake was just a reminder from the safehouse, and the actual earthquake disaster outside had not yet begun.

Su Xiao then asked, “Xiao Mo, what about the roadside tips? Will there still be special resource information alerts?”

Xiao Mo didn’t hesitate. “I’m not sure about the situation in the Apocalypse Game.”

So, Xiao Mo didn’t know either.

Su Xiao decided not to think about it further.

Earthquakes can start suddenly, and the closer you are to a building, the more dangerous it becomes. You can’t even be sure of the magnitude, and the ground might collapse. Leaving the safehouse could be risky.

She chose to stay in the cellar and wait.

Looking at the cellar, packed full with natural resources, Su Xiao decided to clear out her inventory and make space for her sofa bed.

She opened the Exchange Center. Since she couldn’t send messages, she would check if anyone needed these resources.

For survivors without resources, natural materials are most valuable on the first day.

In seven days, no one knows what will happen to these food and water supplies.

So, after leaving enough noodles, rice, and some instant meals with water for herself, Su Xiao prepared to trade away the rest of her natural resources. That should be enough to last her seven days.

With a clear goal in mind, Su Xiao began to act. One unit of material could be exchanged for one portion of natural food resources.

In less than 20 minutes, Su Xiao sent out 38 portions of water and food, 2 gas stoves, 20 gas cylinders, 8 small battery-powered lamps, 7 flashlights, and 16 lighters, in exchange for 67 units of materials.

18 iron blocks, 13 pieces of fabric, 15 wooden planks, and 19 plastics.

Su Xiao was quite satisfied.

She had taken advantage of the opportunity to trade natural resources for materials.

On the first day, weapons were limited, and without them, you couldn’t get the blueprints.

The zombie cats that appeared at night could be dealt with without weapons, but it would be a hassle.

That’s why some people had materials but no blueprints.

Plus, the first disaster had already arrived, so there were bound to be injured people who lacked supplies.

This gave her the chance to trade natural resources for items.

Most importantly, after trading away the small lamps, flashlights, and gas cylinders, she finally had enough space in the cellar to set up her sofa bed.

Although she couldn’t fully stretch out, it was better than sleeping on the ground.

Su Xiao also grabbed a pillow, blanket, and a plush toy that didn’t serve much practical use but gave her a sense of comfort.

In the end of the world, such comfort would be rare.

After organizing her resting space, Su Xiao glanced at the Exchange Center.

Yu Yu: “Sis, are you there? Sorry, something happened and I almost died outside.”

Yu Yu: “I forgot to ask, are you a sis or a bro?”

Yu Yu: “You’re still here, right? You’re one of the two-egg survivors! Don’t die out there!”

This message was from five minutes ago.

Su Xiao replied, “I’m here, just finished tidying up the blankets.”

Yu Yu: “??? Blankets? Does your safehouse have a bed?”

Su Xiao: “No, but the space is quite big, so I brought in a sofa bed and some blankets, pillows, and throws.”

After a long pause, Yu Yu sent another message: “I’m so envious… Do you have extra blankets, throws, or pillows? A mattress would be even better. My safehouse is a boat—a canopy boat. It’s safe, but it gets really cold at night. I think I might catch a cold. In this situation, getting a cold could be deadly.”

Su Xiao was puzzled. “A mattress? Can your boat even fit one?”

The boat seemed small.

Yu Yu: “A lot of people have asked me for double blueprints. At first, I didn’t have much to trade for, and the blueprints are hard to get with a service fee. So I could only take item materials or materials in exchange, and the most common one was expanding space. So even though my boat looks small, it actually has about 10 square meters of space. It’s enough for a mattress. If you have a clean, complete four-piece set, I can trade for it with items, but I don’t know what you’d want.”

Su Xiao could sense from her casual words that this sister was well-off.

This sister had probably been hanging out in the Exchange Center ever since she got a purple treasure chest egg, expanding her network and offering blueprints while collecting service fees.

And right now, blueprints were more valuable than any resource, item, or material. This sister was at the top of the food chain!

Yu Yu: “Of course, don’t envy me. I’ve played many games, and blueprints are the most valuable at the beginning because no one has them. Everyone wants to exchange items for blueprints. But later, when everyone has blueprints, they lose their value. Plus, this is an end-of-world game. Your food treasure chest egg will be more useful later.”

She insisted she wasn’t bragging.

Su Xiao: …

Forget it.

It’s just envy. One can’t be too greedy. She was already very lucky to have two treasure chest eggs.

Su Xiao: “I only have blankets, throws, and pillows right now, but my safehouse is easily movable. I know there’s an underground warehouse. I can help you find a mattress, but I need gasoline.”

After thinking for a while, Su Xiao realized that her resources weren’t actually that plentiful.

She had found supplies earlier because, while everyone was still reacting to the situation, she had moved the cellar and searched nearby underground garages, spending a lot of time and effort. But she found very few treasure chests.

The cellar didn’t offer a wide enough view.

If a car had enough range and a clear view, survivors could spot treasure chests much more efficiently.

Yu Yu: “Wow, you’re lucky! A motorhome, huh? That thing is fast and convenient. I don’t have gasoline, but I know a client with a blue treasure chest egg. She has many items. If you can find me a mattress, daily necessities, or medical supplies, I’ll trade with her for gasoline. I can also introduce you to clients. I remember you have the food chest and black treasure chest eggs. You can’t add friends directly through the Exchange Center, so any introductions will be third-party guaranteed, and I’ll charge a service fee for that.”
