Though the view was wide open, the drawbacks were equally obvious.
Fei Xuhang’s fuel supply didn’t last long. As soon as she stepped on the gas, her range was cut in half within moments.
Moreover, the deceleration was slow, and not all areas offered parking spaces. There were fixed parking points, most of which were along the road.
Luckily, these spots, blocked by collapsed buildings, weren’t easy for people to find.
After stopping the car, Su Xiao prepared to gather supplies, but after checking a few piles of rubble, she first headed for the communication center.
Though she had switched to a new binding Safehouse, the information on the communication center remained hers.
This meant that what was bound was the survivor, while the Safehouse was just a platform for communication, like needing to download an app and bind it with an ID card to log into WeChat.
With this, she couldn’t hide behind an alias anymore.
However, the good news was that her chat history was still intact.
Su Xiao’s supplies were stored in the cellar. Only those kept in the cellar’s warehouse could be accessed through the supply channel at any time. Currently, her supply channel only had a level 2 fire axe.
She traded a red treasure chest and some turtle martial artist figurines at the communication center for a hammer and a hoe.
She then left the sports car and went to gather supplies.
The location of the supplies was obscured by collapsed buildings. If it weren’t for her driving through a hollowed-out structure, even survivors would have a hard time finding it.
Fortunately, Su Xiao had consumed a strength potion, and it was easy for her to move the debris.
In the end, she found 1 blue treasure chest, 1 red treasure chest, and 3 purple treasure chests from piles of scrap building material.
Su Xiao felt like she was a master at collecting blueprints.
Others typically collected more blue treasure chests, but hers were few and far between.
Back in the car, Su Xiao felt a bit weary. Though the potion had worked, her body still ached from hidden injuries.
She hadn’t yet completed the task she’d promised to Yu Yu. Struggling against her exhaustion, she prepared to turn around and head back to the cellar. However, unfortunately, the Ferrari didn’t have coordinates marked, so she had to rely on memory to get to the riverside. There was a deviation in the distance.
It would take at least 1 km to reach the cellar from here.
The problem was that after returning to the riverside, her fuel supply was gone, and the car could only stop.
She had traded a barrel of gasoline with Yu Yu in the cellar, but the gasoline had been stored inside the cellar and not in the warehouse, making it inaccessible through the supply channel on her wrist.
This gave Su Xiao a headache.
She tried asking Yu Yu about exchanging the gasoline, but her sister had disappeared, and there was no response.
By 12:30 AM, Su Xiao was still searching for her cellar in the pitch-black riverside.
Fortunately, there was a searchlight overhead.
After walking for nearly 10 minutes, Su Xiao finally returned to the cellar.
Her first reaction was to complain, “Xiao Mo, I’ve bound three Safehouses—cellar, fishing boat, and Ferrari, each with 10 warehouses. Why can’t I use them simultaneously? Does the supply channel only open for one Safehouse at a time?”
Xiao Mo was stunned for a moment. “Please wait, I will immediately report this issue to the apocalypse game.”
Su Xiao: ???
Report it?
What did that mean? Was it a bug?
Her mood improved slightly. “Alright, I hope you can give me a reasonable solution.”
She rummaged around, heading for the underground warehouse where her living supplies were stored.
Luckily, she had remembered to record the coordinates when she left earlier.
It didn’t take long to arrive at the warehouse location, and the coordinates were the same as before. However, this time, the system notified her that survivors were within 50 meters of the exit.
In other words, there were people in the cellar now.
The hurricane had destroyed the surface buildings, so people were bound to search the underground warehouse.
Naturally, many supplies had probably been moved out, and she wasn’t sure if there were still medical supplies or mattresses left.
Turning off the cellar lamp, she quietly pushed open the cellar door and overheard someone speaking.
“The apocalypse arrived just like that, but the house I bought for 600,000, with a 27-year loan, how did it all get wiped out?”
“This global disaster affects everyone. Looking on the bright side, we won’t have to pay the mortgage for the next 27 years, right?”
“That makes sense, but who knows if we’ll even have a future.”
“Who can say? Just take it one day at a time. Quick, let’s move. The Alliance is taking control now, all the supplies will be requisitioned. By the way… your wife and kids are alright, right? Make sure the kids have something to eat. I left a box of small cakes in the corner, don’t forget to take them.”
“Thanks. What about you…”
“Heh, don’t worry, I’ve left some for my wife too. Once we finish moving, I’ll sneak it to her, but don’t let anyone see.”
…
Su Xiao opened the cellar door slightly and peeked inside.
The warehouse had faint emergency lighting, casting a dim glow but not affecting visibility.
Many of the nearby cargo areas had already been emptied, and the two people speaking were carrying boxes toward the exit.
Su Xiao followed them to observe. Both were wearing work uniforms with the Alliance logo.
After the apocalypse Alliance was formed, everyone fell under its jurisdiction, and the supplies were naturally distributed by the Alliance.
Food was gone, tents and other supplies had been moved out, but fortunately, the furniture area was untouched, and mattresses were still easy to find.
Su Xiao felt around for the nearest 2m by 2m mattress. She tried to store it in the cellar, but a prompt appeared:
“Cellar space insufficient, unable to store this natural resource.”
She was frustrated.
Su Xiao had no choice but to look again. After a few minutes of searching, she found a folded soft mattress, still 2m by 2m, but much softer and thinner. It was folded into 1m by 1m and only 20cm thick after being vacuum-sealed.
This could now be stored in the cellar.
She was about to head to the medical supplies area when she saw the two workers returning, continuing to move supplies inside.
Su Xiao quickly hid behind a shelf.
“Have you heard? The prophecy about the apocalypse came out a hundred years ago. The Alliance agreement has already been established and made public. Once the apocalypse arrives, three plans will be activated to ensure human survival…”
“What plans?”
“The first one is the Heavenly Palace Plan, a space station in the universe. It’s said to be huge, capable of housing millions of people! The second is the Ark, said to be located behind the ice wall in Antarctica, the world’s largest Ark, indestructible, with enough energy to sustain a million people for a million years, capable of withstanding any natural disaster.”
“The first one, forget it. We ordinary folks can’t go to space. As for the second, it’s in Antarctica. Who can prove it?”
“The third one is the most dangerous but also the closest to us…” The speaker paused for dramatic effect, “They say there’s an underground city here to withstand all kinds of natural disasters. The Alliance will soon organize us to enter the underground city.”
“Is that for real?”
“A few years ago, when the roads collapsed, didn’t someone reveal it? That was because of the existence of the underground city…”
Before they could finish speaking, the ground suddenly started shaking.
The shelves began to wobble, and Su Xiao immediately ran toward the cellar entrance, just as she collided with the two workers entering.
They stared in surprise at the woman who had appeared out of nowhere in the warehouse. Before they could speak, there was a loud cracking sound from above.
The massive shelves, swaying, began to fall straight toward the three of them.
