Chapter 33: I Truly Love You
Xu Zhitang gave her a reassuring look. She threw the broken wine bottle in her hand on the ground, making a crisp sound. She sat down on the bar stool in front of the bar and looked at the crowd.
“Time to work.”
Suddenly, a dozen people appeared in the crowd, holding down the man and his friends. The man with the pointed nose and monkey cheeks was stunned.
Cen Wan breathed a sigh of relief. Her plastic sister wouldn’t do anything without a plan. She should have thought of it earlier. She had worried for nothing.
The bodyguard who was holding down the man with the pointed nose and monkey cheeks kicked him in the bend of his leg. He fell to his knees with a bang.
Xu Zhitang sat on the bar stool, looking down at him: “Apologize to me and my sister by kowtowing. Let’s just forget about this today.”
Cen Wan hugged Xu Zhitang and leaned on her shoulder, saying, “Ying ying ying, you scared me.”
Xu Zhitang lifted her chin with one hand: “Look at how scared my little darling is. Don’t cry, I’ll feel bad.”
Cen Wan, the drama queen, nodded obediently and pointed at the group of people on the ground, saying in a sweet voice: “Sugar Sugar hubby, help me beat him up.”
Xu Zhitang looked at the bodyguard: “Listen to my wife, beat him up.”
The customers nearby were stunned. These two were too good at acting.
Soon, the group of men were beaten to the ground, groaning in pain. The man with the pointed nose and monkey cheeks couldn’t figure out who he had offended.
The bar owner didn’t dare to intervene, fearing that he might offend a big shot. He watched them get beaten up from the sidelines.
“Wan Wan.”
Cen Wan was enjoying the show when a voice rang out. Her expression instantly turned cold. She would never forget this voice in her lifetime.
Xu Zhitang looked at the source of the voice and poked Cen Wan: “Your brother is here.”
Cen Xiu strode over to her from the crowd, his expression worried: “What happened? Are you hurt anywhere?”
He was too good at pretending. Cen Wan couldn’t see any flaws on his face. It seemed like he was genuinely concerned about her.
Cen Wan didn’t speak for a long time. Xu Zhitang felt the atmosphere was too awkward and spoke to ease the tension: “Brother Cen Xiu, don’t worry, I’m here, Wan Wan will be fine.”
Cen Xiu was older than her, so she called him Brother Cen Xiu along with Cen Wan.
Cen Xiu breathed a sigh of relief and said, “That’s good.”
Cen Wan looked at Xu Zhitang, her expression softening slightly: “Sugar Sugar hubby, I promised Lu Beixun that I would go back to accompany him early, so I’m leaving now.”
She smiled: “Next time you invite me, it has to be a VIP luxury private room, otherwise I won’t come.”
Before Xu Zhitang could react, Cen Wan walked past Cen Xiu towards the exit of the bar. Cen Xiu was a little bewildered. He froze for a few seconds before locking his gaze on her back and following her.
Xu Zhitang was puzzled. What was wrong with these two? Were they fighting?
Cen Wan walked out of the bar and was about to hail a car back when someone grabbed her wrist: “Wan Wan.”
Cen Xiu had caught up. Cen Wan frowned and disgustingly shook his hand off: “Don’t touch me.”
She was disgusted by his touch from the bottom of her heart.
Cen Xiu’s eyes flashed with a hint of hurt: “Wan Wan, what’s wrong with you? Our relationship has always been good, why has it become like this today? What happened in between?”
Every expression of his was telling her that he was hurt.
In Cen Wan’s eyes, the man in front of her was like a clown, trying hard to perform.
Cen Wan couldn’t bring herself to talk to him calmly. She knew all his evil deeds. Three lives of her family were in his hands. She couldn’t even be bothered to pretend.
“I have a husband.” Cen Wan looked directly into his eyes and coldly questioned: “I also want to ask my good brother what it means to say you love me in front of my husband? Are you trying to break up our relationship? Are you trying to sow discord?”
Cen Xiu’s heart skipped a beat. Cen Wan’s eyes were like they could see through all his schemes.
He froze for a few seconds, his eyes gradually dimming. He slowly spoke: “Wan Wan, I don’t want you to be with Lu Beixun. I love you, can’t you see?”
“I really can’t see it.” Setting fire to her family and killing them, is that love? Misleading her to kill the one she loved, is that love? She couldn’t bear such love.
“Whether you believe it or not, I truly love you.” Cen Xiu suddenly hugged her, his voice full of affection. Cen Wan didn’t react at all.
She was cold all over. She pushed him away forcefully. Cen Xiu’s gaze fell on the car that had just left not far away. A hint of triumph flashed in his dark eyes.
Cen Wan didn’t notice. She hated the man in front of her. He had touched her repeatedly. She couldn’t take it anymore. She slapped him across the face, not giving him time to react. Then she slapped him again.
She didn’t give him another glance. She hailed a car and left directly.
After getting into the car, Cen Wan took out a wet wipe from her bag and kept wiping her hands. She couldn’t understand how there could be such a disgusting man in the world. On the surface, he was well-dressed and gentle like jade, but in reality, he was dirty and filthy, no different from a sewer creature. He would stop at nothing to achieve his goal.
The Cen family had raised him for twenty years. He had the best food, clothing, and living conditions. He had the best treatment. He had everything that she and Cen Luo had, both material and love. His father even wanted to hand over the Cen Corporation to him.
Her parents had never wronged him in any way.
How could he be so inhuman to do such a crazy thing?
She got home at seven o’clock. She went straight to her room, found a change of clothes, and went to the bathroom. When she came back, she saw the light on in the study. Lu Beixun was in the study.
After taking a shower, Cen Wan threw her clothes in the trash can as she had done before. It was clear how disgusted she was with Cen Xiu.
She picked up a bottle of perfume and sprayed it on herself. She left the bathroom. Lu Beixun hadn’t come back yet. She went to the study and pushed the door open.
Lu Beixun was behind the desk. He looked up at her when he heard the noise. His eyes were cold, the same cold and unfamiliar look he had when he saw her on the day she was reborn.
Cen Wan was stunned. She only heard Lu Beixun slowly speak, his voice cold and without any warmth: “Knocking is basic courtesy. Don’t you know?”
Cen Wan felt like she had gone back to square one.
What was wrong with him today? He had said before that she didn’t need to knock when entering the study. Besides, this was her home too…
She murmured softly: “Lu Beixun…”
“Is there something wrong?”
Cen Wan wanted to tell him about what happened today, but seeing how cold he was, she swallowed the words back down. He probably didn’t want to hear it either. She shook her head: “Nothing.”
“If there’s nothing, please leave.” Lu Beixun: “I still have work to do.”
Cen Wan really wanted to ask him what was wrong, but seeing how cold he was, she backed down. She was afraid that the next second, divorce would come out of his mouth.
“Then… I won’t bother you.”
After saying that, Cen Wan left the study and gently closed the door.
Lu Beixun stared at the door that had just closed for a few seconds, his expression gloomy. He threw the pen in his hand on the table, leaned back in his office chair, and rubbed his temples in frustration.
He tugged at his tie. He had no desire to continue working. He just sat there in the study, not knowing what he was thinking.
