Chapter 43: Three People Drunk
Xu Zhitang took a sip of coffee: “She’s just a white-eyed wolf. Even a dog would know to guard the house and wag its tail at its owner.”
Cen Wan smiled and didn’t say anything. That person was dead, and she didn’t want to mention it anymore.
Xu Zhitang just couldn’t believe it. The Cen family had been so good to Cen Xiu for twenty years. Everyone in their circle knew it. Cen Wan had always relied on her brother since she was a child. They had been so close back then. They never imagined that he would be so ambitious.
She asked, “Are you sad?”
“I was sad,” Cen Wan smiled. “I’m not sad now. I only feel the joy of revenge.”
Her lips curled up, but Xu Zhitang couldn’t see any smile in her eyes.
Xu Zhitang didn’t mention Cen Xiu again. What was done was done. There was no need to mention unhappy people or things. She could clearly feel that Cen Wan wasn’t very happy lately: “Why aren’t you happy?”
Cen Wan looked at her: “Am I?”
Xu Zhitang hummed in response.
Cen Wan thought, as expected of her plastic sister. She really wasn’t very happy lately. Revenge had been taken, but she still owed Lu Beixun a life. Even though she was reborn, Lu Beixun wouldn’t die at her hands again. No matter what, she couldn’t forget…
What she owed him… she couldn’t repay.
Xu Zhitang didn’t ask why she wasn’t happy. She picked up her bag, pulled her up, and walked out of the coffee shop: “Alright, stop frowning.”
“Let loose. Don’t think about those things.”
Cen Wan thought about what Xu Zhitang meant by letting loose. She pulled away from her hand: “I’m not going to find a man. I don’t want to die yet.”
Lu Beixun would probably be angry if he knew she was looking for a man.
“I’m not taking you to find a man.” Xu Zhitang: “After all, I’m afraid of your man too.”
“I’m taking you to drink. Let’s get drunk tonight!”
Cen Wan hesitated for a moment. She felt that she really needed to let loose. She had been so repressed lately. She had been nestled in Lu Beixun’s arms at night, looking at his gentle eyes, and she felt like she couldn’t breathe.
Cen Wan took out her phone from her bag: “I’ll call someone.”
“Who?” Xu Zhitang asked.
“The white lotus.”
“Ah?”
Cen Wan said, “The one who provoked me at the bar that day.”
Xu Zhitang remembered. It was that woman: “Aren’t you two at odds?”
“Yeah, we’re still at odds.” Cen Wan dialed Shen Jianyu’s number.
The other side might have been playing with her phone. As soon as she dialed, it rang once, and the call was already connected.
“What’s up?”
The voice on the other end was lazy, probably just waking up. Cen Wan said, “Want to go drinking?”
“Location.” Shen Jianyu said.
Cen Wan: “North Alley Bar.”
The person on the other end hummed in response and hung up the phone, without explicitly saying whether she would come or not.
Xu Zhitang asked, “Is she coming or not?”
Cen Wan put her phone back in her bag, her tone confident: “She’s coming.”
Shen Jianyu had been moping at home for several days, living in a daze. She would wake up, find something to eat, reply to important emails in her inbox, and then continue lying down. She hadn’t washed her hair in four days.
If Cen Wan hadn’t called her, she might have stunk up the house.
Cen Wan and Xu Zhitang went to the North Alley Bar and booked a luxurious private room, to avoid another incident like last time.
They booked the room and went up first. Cen Wan sent the room number to Shen Jianyu. It was an hour and a half later when Shen Jianyu arrived.
Cen Wan still liked this white lotus, but Shen Jianyu had treated her like a fool before, so she still held a grudge: “White lotus, look at what time it is. We’ve been waiting for you for an hour and a half.”
“Sorry, the white lotus was stinky.” Shen Jianyu explained: “I had to take a bath before I could go out.”
“Stinky?” Cen Wan was confused.
“Yeah. I’ve been cooped up at home for days and haven’t gone out.”
Shen Jianyu didn’t mind Cen Wan calling her white lotus. She even cooperated with her. She thought Cen Wan was quite interesting.
Cen Wan looked at her and introduced her: “This is Xu Zhitang.”
She then said, “This is Shen Jianyu.”
“We’ve all met before. We almost tore each other apart. No need for polite greetings.”
Shen Jianyu looked at Xu Zhitang and nodded: “Ms. Xu.”
Xu Zhitang returned a polite smile, but there was a hint of awkwardness in her smile that Shen Jianyu didn’t notice.
It was a good thing she hadn’t stood up for Cen Wan and ripped apart the white lotus last time. Otherwise, she would be the one feeling awkward today. She looked at Cen Wan and shook her head helplessly. Her plastic sister was useless at everything, but she was the best at screwing over her best friend.
There were only the three of them in the large private room. Cen Wan ordered a table full of alcohol. The three of them didn’t have much interaction, but they didn’t feel awkward. They were all easygoing.
They didn’t use glasses. They drank directly from the bottle. Cen Wan saw Shen Jianyu drinking silently. She felt a little uncomfortable seeing her like that: “White lotus, these past few days… have you been in a bad mood?”
Shen Jianyu looked up at her: “Yeah, otherwise I wouldn’t have been cooped up at home until I was about to grow mold.”
A woman’s sixth sense told Cen Wan that she must have been heartbroken. Cen Wan looked hesitant, wanting to speak, but afraid of mentioning something that would upset Shen Jianyu.
Shen Jianyu saw her expression: “Want to ask about Xiao Yan?”
Cen Wan didn’t deny it. Shen Jianyu smiled: “Ask if you want to.”
Xu Zhitang: “Xiao Yan?”
Cen Wan: “Yeah, you’re not mistaken. The one you know.”
Although Shen Jianyu said she could ask, Cen Wan didn’t end up asking: “Forget it, let’s drink.”
The three of them clinked their glasses. Shen Jianyu took a large gulp of alcohol, her eyes filled with bitterness: “I was with Xiao Yan for half a year. It’s been over two years since we broke up.”
Xu Zhitang felt unbelievable. She had known Xiao Yan around the same time as Cen Wan. He was a very cold person, and no one could get close to him. She never imagined that they had such a connection.
Shen Jianyu: “I pushed him away. He hates me.”
Shen Jianyu didn’t elaborate on the reason for the breakup. They didn’t ask further. Everyone has things they don’t want to talk about.
Xu Zhitang usually drank alcohol. Cen Wan and Shen Jianyu had things on their minds, so they kept pouring themselves drinks.
None of the three had a bad tolerance for alcohol. Soon, half of the alcohol on the table was gone. Empty bottles were scattered on the table and the floor.
The three of them were drunk and unconscious. Xu Zhitang leaned against the sofa. Cen Wan knelt on the sofa, leaning on the back of the sofa chair, her hand dangling, holding a bottle of alcohol. There was still half a bottle left.
Shen Jianyu sat on the floor with her legs crossed, leaning on the sofa, in a strange posture.
Cen Wan’s eyes were hazy, and her cheeks were flushed. She looked around, couldn’t find anyone, and called out: “White lotus.”
Shen Jianyu, who was leaning on the sofa, heard her and raised her hand: “The white lotus is here!”
Cen Wan nodded: “Where’s Tang Tang? Where did my Tang Tang go?”
Xu Zhitang frowned: “Don’t call me that. I’m right here.”
Cen Wan was so drunk that she still remembered to pour herself a drink: “As long as you’re here. I thought you two didn’t want me anymore… woo woo woo.”
Xu Zhitang pinched her brow: “Don’t cry!”
