It’s on you
It’s On You Chapter 6

Chapter 6: You’re so old, yet you’re still harming minors.

Because she was the one being called out, the others, haunted by rumors, wanted to look but didn’t dare, only glancing at her from the corner of their eyes.

Zhao Tianci held his breath and secretly moved his seat back, fearing that Jiang Yao’s outburst would affect him.

Surprisingly, Jiang Yao remained silent for a few seconds before slowly speaking, “My name is Jiang Yao.”

Under Zhou Yuhong’s encouraging gaze, Jiang Yao gritted her teeth and added, “Please take care of me.”

Zhou Yuhong let out a chuckle, then controlled her expression under Jiang Yao’s resentful gaze. She patted Jiang Yao’s desk and said, “Jiang Yao is good at math. You can ask her if you have any questions in the future.”

As soon as she said this, the students, who had been holding their breath, suddenly burst into laughter. But because Jiang Yao was present, they quickly stopped laughing.

Let they ask Jiang Yao math problems? So be it. The news of her repeating two years had already spread throughout the senior year.

Li You was laughing too, not at Zhou Yuhong’s words, but because Jiang Yao’s expression, with her face wrinkled with reluctance but a necessary obligation, was so adorable.

Thankfully, the incident was quickly resolved. After Zhou Yuhong finished roll call, she began explaining the review schedule and then took out the last final exam paper to discuss the wrong questions.

Jiang Yao, without a paper, could only stare blankly. Li You pushed the paper to the middle, afraid Jiang Yao would misunderstand him as asking her a question, so he said in advance, “Let’s look at it together.”

Her eyes were so sincere that Jiang Yao let out an “Oh,” then turned her head to stare blankly at the paper.

Time flew by at school. With Zhou Yuhong watching over her, Jiang Yao remained obedient in class for five days without causing any trouble.

After school on Friday, Jiang Yao had dinner outside and was about to wander around until dark, as usual, when she suddenly remembered her motorcycle and called a cab to the repair shop.

The car was parked outside the shop, and Jiang Yao entered, carrying the cakes she had packed on the way. This time, both doors were open. Cheng Lie, wearing a white vest, was repairing the engine of a racing car.

“Wait a minute, if you want to fix the car.”

Cheng Lie turned around and saw Jiang Yao, but the rest of his words caught in his throat. Jiang Yao hadn’t been seen since their last meeting at the cafe. Seeing her suddenly brought back memories of that embarrassing incident in the cafe.

Jiang Yao had almost forgotten about it. She put the snacks she had brought on the table and asked, “Where’s my motorcycle? Is it fixed?”

She walked over and spotted the pink motorcycle parked in the corner. The rear tire had been removed and propped up with something.

Jiang Yao bent down to take a look, then curiously reached out her hand—

“Don’t touch it.”

Before Cheng Lie finished his words, Jiang Yao felt a smear of oil all over her.

Jiang Yao instinctively took two steps back, bumping into the shelf behind her. Just as she was about to fall, Cheng Lie took a long step forward, grabbing her collar and pulling her back.

His arm was exposed, the veins bulging from the exertion.

After finally stabilizing herself, her heart still pounding, Jiang Yao turned to see Cheng Lie’s gloves stained with oil. She tugged at her school uniform T-shirt, and sure enough, the collar was stained with a large patch of black oil.

Cheng Lie removed his gloves and grabbed a bottle of alcohol from the nearby shelf. “Put your hand here.”

Jiang Yao muttered a muffled “Oh!” and, after washing her hands, frowned and tugged at her collar, fearing the oil from her clothes would get on her back.

“I told you not to touch me.”

“You’re too late,” Jiang Yao shirked responsibility, her face etched with anguish. “What do we do now? Are there any clothing stores around here?”

“No.” Cheng Lie pondered. “I have something I’ve never worn. Can you try it on?”

Jiang Yao curled her lips. “Okay.”

“In my room. Go up and change.” Cheng Lie glanced at her legs, a little skeptical. “Can you get up there?”

“What do you care?”

“Irregular kid,” Cheng Lie muttered. Just as he was about to put on his gloves and continue working on the car, his phone rang.

Xu Chaoyang: “It’s over, Brother Lie. I just saw your mother coming over. You should get ready to greet the Empress Dowager.”

Cheng Lie was startled. He looked up and saw Ms. Fang Hui enter the store.

He put down his phone and helplessly called out, “Mom.”

Ms. Fang, wearing sunglasses, had a stern face. “Don’t call me mom. I don’t have a son as promising as you.”

Cheng Lie thought his mother was here to settle a blind date debt, so she pulled a chair over and said, “Please sit down.”

“Why should I sit down? How could I be in the mood to sit down after you’ve done something like this?” Ms. Fang said, sitting down at the table and slamming her hand.

Cheng Lie: …

He had long been accustomed to Ms. Fang’s insincere nature, but hearing her say this just felt strange. It was as if he had done something shameful.

Cheng Lie poured a glass of water and placed it on the table, then stood there in silence. Seeing him like this, Fang Hui’s anger surged again: “Cheng Lie, I’m hoping you get married soon, but I didn’t want you to do something like this.”

“What did I do?”

“How dare you ask?” Ms. Fang pointed. “The girl is still young and naive, and you’re 26, and you’re still naive? You’re so old, and you’re harming minors, you—”

“What are you talking about?”
