Lin Shuyue entered the Public Security Bureau, and He Yuling led her to the same reception room as last time. Soon after, she and Hang Jiabai entered together.
Compared to their last meeting, this time Hang Jiabai was wearing a white long-sleeved shirt, the tail tucked into his jeans, the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing his bronze skin, paired with white sneakers.
This attire didn’t look like that of a twenty-five or six-year-old criminal police captain, but more like a student who had just graduated from university.
Lin Shuyue looked at him several times.
Hang Jiabai was keenly perceptive, but his expression remained calm.
After the two of them came in, He Yuling closed the door to the reception room.
Lin Shuyue took out several cameras from her bag, including the two white pills.
“I’m a reporter, Captain Hang, you all know that.” Lin Shuyue was thirsty, so she took a sip of the water He Yuling poured for her. It was ice cold, and drinking it made her feel much better. “In the past year or two, the buzz around internet addiction schools has been quite significant. You can see their advertisements everywhere, and even official media have come out to praise them by name.”
“I was very curious about this school, so I went undercover to investigate.” Lin Shuyue gave Hang Jiabai a wry smile. “The fact that I’m sitting here should tell you that my undercover findings are very bad.”
“I went undercover twice. The first time was posing as a parent. This is the recording pen and the hidden camera footage from that time.”
“The other time, I went undercover as a laborer. These cameras contain the recordings I’ve made over the past week.”
Two sets of evidence were pushed towards Hang Jiabai.
Hang Jiabai had heard of internet addiction schools. They had even discussed them before.
Some colleagues with children at home thought it was a good thing that schools like this existed to help teenagers overcome internet addiction.
After all, the number of teenagers lingering in internet cafes was increasing day by day. Some unmarried colleagues were more accepting of trendy things and thought internet addiction wasn’t a big deal. It had its harms, but not as severe as some media outlets reported.
Hang Jiabai didn’t express his opinion at the time. In his view, you had to investigate or experience something firsthand before you could evaluate it.
Especially something as important as sending a child to school.
“We’ll watch these videos now. Please wait here for a moment.” Hang Jiabai stood up with the evidence. “Sister He, please keep her company.”
“Okay.”
Hang Jiabai took Lin Shuyue’s report very seriously. Each of the actions she described was a criminal case on its own, and together they formed a major case.
Hang Jiabai knew that if what Lin Shuyue said was all true, then handling this matter could cause national turmoil.
How many such internet addiction schools were there across the country? How many students had been sent to them? Were all these schools of the same nature, or was it just this one school? If they were all like this, then how many students were in these schools, and how many students had “graduated” from this so-called school?
Just thinking about it made Hang Jiabai’s scalp tingle.
As soon as he left the reception room, he went straight to the captain’s office.
The captain was busy looking at case files. After hearing what Hang Jiabai said, he immediately closed the office curtains, turned on the projector, and began to quickly play the videos Lin Shuyue had provided.
Besides issuing tasks, the Good and Evil System also had a built-in video organization function, so the videos given to Hang Jiabai were all well-organized. Every frame of the footage made his blood boil.
After watching for less than twenty minutes, the captain heavily placed his water cup on the table. “We don’t need to watch the rest for now. Jiabai, have someone send those two pills to the forensic doctor for identification. Have that reporter Lin give a more detailed statement. I’ll call Director Du.”
Hang Jiabai returned, and Lin Shuyue wasn’t surprised. However, this time the person beside him had changed to Zhao Youcheng, whom she had met before.
Seeing Lin Shuyue again, Zhao Youcheng gave her a big smile.
Hang Jiabai glanced at his exposed white teeth before looking away.
“Reporter Lin, I’d like to ask you about some details.”
“I will fully cooperate.”
In the following time, Hang Jiabai asked, Lin Shuyue answered, and Zhao Youcheng took notes quickly.
The questions Hang Jiabai asked the most were about the two different faces Lin Shuyue used during her undercover work.
Lin Shuyue had been prepared for Hang Jiabai’s questions. She took out the cosmetics from her bag and gave them a live “face-changing” demonstration, leaving Hang Jiabai and the others completely stunned.
As two grown men who were busy with work all day and rarely even stepped out the door, how could they have ever seen such exquisite makeup skills?
Their worldviews suffered a severe blow at that moment! No one could remain calm after watching a beautiful young girl transform into a forty-something, timid middle-aged woman through makeup.
Zhao Youcheng’s eyes were wide open.
Hang Jiabai’s eyes were shining as he looked at Lin Shuyue.
As criminal police officers, they dealt with all sorts of criminals every day. Sometimes, they inevitably needed some disguises to help complete their missions.
But a bunch of big men like them didn’t know how to do makeup. Every time they went on a mission, their disguises looked ridiculous. The female comrades did know how to do makeup, but places where they needed to go undercover were very dangerous for women. Under normal circumstances, the higher-ups wouldn’t agree to use female comrades unless it was absolutely necessary.
If they also possessed such a transformative makeup technique… Hang Jiabai thought, feeling completely refreshed.
Despite the myriad thoughts in his mind, he didn’t show any of them on his face. Hang Jiabai took the notepad in front of Zhao Youcheng and added a sentence at the end with a flourish: Makeup skills are divine.
Lin Shuyue looked at their stunned expressions and felt very proud. After all, the reason she had painstakingly learned makeup was to amaze people at certain times.
Hang Jiabai closed the notepad. “Thank you for your cooperation, Reporter Lin. We will dispatch the police as soon as possible.”
Lin Shuyue nodded and left without removing her makeup, still wearing the face of a middle-aged woman.
He Yuling happened to be coming to find Hang Jiabai, and the two bumped into each other in the corridor. He Yuling’s mouth dropped open, and Lin Shuyue looked at her with a smile.
Two minutes later, He Yuling finally found her voice. “Reporter Lin?”
Lin Shuyue nodded with a smile. “It’s me, Officer He. I’m leaving now. Let’s hang out sometime when you’re free.”
He Yuling nodded blankly as Lin Shuyue turned and left.
He Yuling walked back towards the reception room, glancing back as she went.
As a well-informed female police officer in her thirties, He Yuling told herself to remain calm, but the more she tried to suppress it, the faster her heart beat.
She really wanted to know why Lin Shuyue looked completely different after being in the reception room for only half an hour! Her curiosity was piqued, and the question was driving her crazy.
So, after she left the reception room, she told her colleagues about it, but none of them believed her. So everyone went to the surveillance room to watch the footage. After watching it, both the male and female officers looked at Lin Shuyue on the screen with shining eyes.
Lin Shuyue had no idea about the commotion she had caused at the Public Security Bureau after she left. She found a place to change back into the clothes she had worn when she left the internet addiction school that morning, bought a few pounds of the cheapest fruit from a roadside stall, ate a bowl of pork offal noodles at a small shop on the street, and then headed towards the internet addiction school.
She had been tolerating those idiots at the school for a long time, and she had to do everything she had always wanted to do but hadn’t gotten around to before the police arrived!
When she returned, the students had just finished dinner. After a perfunctory search, Lin Shuyue returned to her dormitory. She took out the physique-strengthening pill that the system had rewarded her with after she completed the capture of Duan Taoyong last time. After looking at the brown pill, she took a sip of water, tilted her head back, and swallowed the pill with the water.
A warm current rose from her lower abdomen and instantly spread to all her limbs. The comfort made Lin Shuyue sigh contentedly.
It took a full ten minutes for the warm current to gradually subside. Lin Shuyue felt that her hearing was clearer, her vision was sharper, and her whole body was filled with strength.
Lin Shuyue thanked the Good and Evil System. The Good and Evil System wasn’t very intelligent, and even its reply to Lin Shuyue had an electronic tone.
Lin Shuyue didn’t care. At this moment, the phone placed in her system’s inventory rang. Lin Shuyue took out her phone from the inventory and opened the newly arrived text message.
The text message came from an unknown number, but the first sentence was a self-introduction.
Lin Shuyue read the message while saving the number to her phone’s contacts.
The text message from Captain Hang said that they had already set off and would arrive at the internet addiction school in an hour.
There were sounds of talking and footsteps approaching. Lin Shuyue put her phone back into her inventory. After the instructors went upstairs, Lin Shuyue took her phone out of the inventory and followed them.
Four instructors went up to the second and third floors.
There were a total of four occupied dormitories on each floor, and one instructor was responsible for giving medicine to the people in two dormitories.
As soon as they got upstairs, the instructors separated.
In dormitory 201, the girls stood in a row with their hands held out in front of them. The instructor had a lewd expression on his face as he felt their little hands and brushed against their buttocks while giving them medicine.
The girls were already used to it. Even though they felt disgusted in their hearts, they didn’t dare to show it in the slightest.
Some of them had once failed to hold back and were then sexually assaulted by the instructor in public.
When Lin Shuyue came up, she saw the instructor reaching his hand into a girl’s collar. Lin Shuyue’s anger flared up instantly. She pushed open the door and walked in.
The instructor, who was enjoying the young and tender flesh, heard the noise and turned his head to look. Before he could even speak, Lin Shuyue took two steps at a time and slammed a brick on his head. “I’ll screw your ancestors.”
The instructor was so dizzy from the brick that his hand slipped out of the girl’s collar.
Lin Shuyue wasn’t satisfied. She went up and kicked him to the ground, then swung the brick and hit him again. She turned her head to look at the stunned girls. “Give me your bedsheets. I’ll tie up this bastard.”
“Don’t be afraid.”
The girl closest to Lin Shuyue reacted the fastest, tearing off her bedsheet and throwing it to Lin Shuyue. At this time, the instructor had already passed out. Lin Shuyue was incredibly strong. She tore the one-meter-long bedsheet in half and tied the instructor up securely on the iron bunk bed.
He was jolted awake by the commotion. The girl who had just given Lin Shuyue the bedsheet took off her shoe and stuffed her sweaty sock into his newly opened mouth.
Then, without waiting for Lin Shuyue to speak, she grabbed her shoe and started hitting the instructor’s face hard.
The other girls woke up as if from a dream. They looked at the instructor who had brought them countless pain and humiliation with hatred in their eyes and swarmed forward, punching and kicking him, their tears falling.
Lin Shuyue watched them quietly retreat and went to dormitory 203, which was on the second floor and under the responsibility of another instructor.
This instructor in 203 was even more outrageous. When Lin Shuyue arrived, he was forcibly kissing a girl. Lin Shuyue thought she was angry enough when she was in dormitory 201, but now she realized that was nothing compared to this.
She went forward and slammed two bricks down. This instructor also fell, even more completely than the one in 201.
The girl he had forcibly kissed saw him fall and frantically snatched the brick from Lin Shuyue, aiming to smash it down on the instructor’s head. Just as it was about to hit, Lin Shuyue grabbed her hand. “His crimes will be judged by the law. Little sister, there’s no need to ruin the rest of your life for such scum.”
The girl stared at Lin Shuyue for a long time before slowly letting go of the brick.
Lin Shuyue recognized this girl as one of the girls who had been taken to the second floor in the afternoon. She wiped away her tears with her thumb and said to her gently, “Life is very, very long. There are still many, many beautiful sceneries in this world, and there are also many, many kind people. Little sister, don’t trap yourself here. You have to bravely walk out and see the scenery in this world that you haven’t seen before. Go and meet those good people you haven’t met before.”
“They are all beautiful. You have to see them one by one so that their beauty is not in vain. Without your gaze, how regrettable would this moment of their splendor be!”
